Shock-O-Rama: Location, Location, Location (Article) - 11/13/2014 10:53:12 AM

Classic trailers are the best at dropping this kind of insane nonsense, then distracting you with something visually dramatic. lol

I had the exact same throught when I rewatched the trailer last week.

Book Review: The Slow Regard of Silent Things (Article) - 11/12/2014 6:03:34 AM

@Walker, while I very much enjoyed the unique and peculiar structure of the book, I could easily see how it would be a huge turn off for some poeple. Hence the grade. -Chuck

Shock-O-Rama: Two Blobs, Same Universe? (Article) - 10/23/2014 5:06:08 AM

The Raft is one of the segments of Creepshow 2, Monkeyfoot. Scarred the hell out of me as a kid and stuck with me.

31 Days of Horror: Trick %u2018R Treat (Article) - 10/9/2014 4:20:04 AM

For those in general proximity to the Philadelphia area, Trick r Treat is playing this Friday (tomorrow) night at The Colonial Theatre. It's a rare 35mm print screening (there are only two 35mm prints of TrT).

Mania Box Office Report: Bell tolls Annabelle (Article) - 10/8/2014 4:52:41 AM

Saw Annabelle, it was incredibly boring (note: I thoroughly enjoyed The Conjuring).

Also note: Transformers 4 was either one of the shittiest films to ever see theatrical release, or the longest product placement vehicle ever made. You can decide which, but you can't actually ascribe a label like "good" to it.

Blu-ray Shopping Bag: Universal Classic Monsters: Complete 30-Film Collection (Article) - 10/7/2014 6:31:38 AM

Seriously not even a consideration until these are at least blu rays. I have the amazing Universal set from '12, and will patiently wait until vol 2 and 3 come out. If they never do then they can't just write off my cash monies. (releasing important collections on DVD only in 2014 stokes an agry fire within me).

The 'Burbs Steelbook Blu-ray Review (Article) - 9/17/2014 5:02:42 AM

Dodgyb2001, as I was watching it this time, I was struck by how much The Frighteners matches The 'Burbs' tone.

Shock-O-Rama: Stagefright (Article) - 9/6/2014 11:53:23 AM

You must be new here, BunyonSnipe, if your impression is that I'm ignorant of giallo. That being the case, welcome to Shock-o-Rama, where I've literally discussed, reviewed, and listicled dozens of giallo films (or more, who keeps track?). I also curate and cohost both a monthly horror rep cinema series, and a yearly all night italian horror film marathon (I think it's safe to say that my italian slasher cinema (or Giallo) card is quite safe). That I didn't feel like bandying about the term in this week's installment shouldn't automatically put you into smug putdown mode. Go back and read past Shock-o-Ramas if you don't want to take my word for it.

Mania Review: Sin City: A Dame to Kill For (Article) - 8/22/2014 7:14:29 AM

I'm actually truly excited for this, as is my wife. We're both enormous fans of Rodriguez and the original. So we're stoked to see this.
