Is Edgar Write related to the Edgar Wright of 'Shaun of the Dead' fame?

Mania Review: After Earth (Article) - 6/1/2013 11:39:07 AM

What I want to know is where all the Anti-Smith family garbage comes from?  Now it could be a front, but I doubt it, but everything I've seen from Wil and Jada indicates that the young Mr. Smith wants to act and that as such his father being the big name in hollywood that he is, has found projects for his son to work on.  Including producing and overseeing the projects.

Why would anyone attack this?  This sounds like the kind of a thing a decent upstanding father whose been in the cesspool that is knows as the Hollywood machine would do if he wanted to let his son follow him.  Will could just unleash his son to the wolves and try to make a name for himself, but he's looking out for him.

I've seen a lot of interviews with the parents that have said that if the kids didn't want to act, they wouldn't make them do it.  Case in point: Willow.  But Jaden seems to like doing it and by the way, he was the kid in Pursuit of Happyness and he did okay there, and in the Karate Kid.  Granted, he's a lot like a little Will Smith, but his Dad is Will Smith and what little boy does not want to be like his awesome father.

National Lampoons Vacation Blu-ray Review (Article) - 5/31/2013 11:53:27 AM

I am picky about the movies I re-buy and DVD has been solidly around or 17 years.  I'm not counting on Blu Ray to go to it's grave anytime soon.  And I have been buying Amazon instant videos, but that service isn't perfect yet, and I'd rather own physical copies for my "BIG" movies.  Ones that I consider classics.  I see no reason to purchase the Mission Impossible movies on Blu Ray for example.  I have them on DVD and they are not good enough to justify paying extra for them, although they should be in bargain bins for Blu Ray.

But we have Vacation on Beta.  And it's been gone for twenty-five years.

It's time my family updated Vacation.

The Summer of '83: Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (Article) - 5/21/2013 7:03:28 PM

Shellhead, it wasn't either King Solomon's Mines (with Richard Chamberlin and Sharon Stone) or Firewalker  (with Louis Gosset Jr and Chuck Norris)??

Hey, my plus didn't come through!!  This movie is a D-Plus .  Or barring that a DD!

The Summer of '83: Spacehunter: Adventures in the Forbidden Zone (Article) - 5/21/2013 8:24:48 AM

A "D"? For SpaceHunter?  Really?  Have you no taste?  No decency?  This movie is not a "D".  It needs a new rating.  Like a "D "    We have Ernie Hudson and Michael Ironside.  Ernie Hudson!

This movie is excellently bad.  Gads, go with what it is, a fun and horrible movie, where the hot android dies and the shrill teenager lives!

Give me this and Yor: Warrior of the Future and you have a double header of dumb that is oh so fun!

Mania Review: Star Trek: Into Darkness (Article) - 5/20/2013 12:00:58 AM

My big issue with this movie was Spock getting unhinged, that was stupid.

We did that last movie.  Sure it was set up, but he's supposed to be a Vulcan for the love of pete.  Unless this Spock isn't walking the path of logic.  I think it would have made it more powerful if Spock didn't have his outburst until he got hold of Harrison.

Maybe get teary...a little...then go back to the bridge all logical and calm.  Go beam down to earth and then royally kick John Harrison to death...Or close to it.
