Holy Shitaki, Batgirl (Article) - 9/18/2008 3:12:32 PM

Hunter, I was never suggesting they had or would sell the copies, although that would be a major coup if they pulled this kind of recall with some in the "bag" only to sell more later. No, here I mean publicity, good or bad brings attention to your comics.

To generate interest, I mean the all star batman and robin sounds interesting, on the surface, but once you actually sit down and read it, yeah. Hard to hide crap.

But, I agree with you. When I started collecting comics back in `88, I was a stupid kid. I mean, I loved to know how much something was worth, going to be worth. That's a cool fun side of collecting. Still is, but yeah, what's the most expensive. But to show off is fun.

But, I started buying with a more speculation oriented minset, and yeah. I got out of collecting for a good decade.

Nothing wrong with the word collect, hell you have quite the collection it sounds like, it's just words like (w)horde and mindless speculation. A little speculation, ain't bad if you love the art (comic books as a whole) but to win you have to play the game right.

Not the I want 3 copies of each X-Force #1 and X-men #1. Oooh, ooh. Yeah.

Kurt, I agree. Anyone who buys into this garbage, really, really gets what they deserve. Although, why do I wish i had a stack of of copies to sell on eBay all of a sudden? Controversy, how can there be controversy in comic books these days? Where are the puritans of a previous poster anyway? In the world following stuff like Preacher (which according to a puritan would send you straight to hell, do not pass go, do not collect $200 for even knowing about it, let alone reading it). Or even Watchmen. Who the hell would care about some bad words found in Batman. Who in the comic book fearing purtian world would even let their kid touch a comic book anymore? It's all DC here and it's a monster of their own creation. But, why did they create it? Money. More money.

Screw Fox.

INSIDE MAN 2 Green Lit for Universal (Article) - 9/6/2008 10:17:09 AM

Wow. My wife and I finally sat down and watched inside man last night. How, almost ironic. We had saw the end of it like a year ago, and I spent the last couple of months trying to find it. With no title or any idea who was in it. I got lucky. I really hope they don't ruin a great movie by attaching a sequel to it. Not every movie needs to live on. Half the magic of really good movies is they don't need sequels and are in some way degraded by them. Then again some are made better, but I don't quite see how this could be made better by one, or improved... Wait and see I guess...

Well, Hell, your boycott could just be, "I ain't giving fox any of my money, until they settle this." In this day and age you can watch their shows with out paying for them, if you know what I mean. Just make it a point NOT to give them any money. Download a tv show, slip an usher a couple bucks at a theatre to let you into a Fox movie (if you had to, or just sneak in), download a movie, get some of their movies and tv shows and share them with other people, your friends, the internet, the cat down the street who knows. Main point, don't give them any money, and take while your at it. If you wanted to be really mean that is.

I've been thinking about this, like the moron I am. Shit, why didn't Fox throw a fit when WB started to film Watchmen? I think for one reason. They wanted to make sure it was in the bag. SO the WB would HAVE to shell out when they take it to court, or threaten to, or delay it. I mean if they demanded their "rights" of consultation at the start of the movie, WB could have just dropped this movie like it's been dropped so many times before and probably sold whatever right they had to it, or just shelve it indefinitely. I mean movie studios lose money all the time. In pre-production they might not have considered it too big a loss. By waiting for the movie to be done, or mostly done to the point it's been shown to the fans, the WB is pretty committed to finishing and releasing it, Fox would then technically or potentially have the WB by the balls so to speak to milk the project for more money, with minimal work on Fox's part. I mean what do they really have to do, send in the Lawyers? I mean it's a movie studio it's got to have a stable of lawyers just hanging around waiting to sue somebody. That's what I think. Somebody probably said it already, but I don't think I'm too far off the mark.

What if they settle it before then? Hell, don't be the idiot pony, just be the person who told us so.

Shame fox doesent have any crappy "mega blockbuster wannabes" we could pretend to letter write and boycott to get them to get this shit taken care of.

Like say an X-Men 4: Ratner's Magnum Opus. We could lie and bullshit tell them we refuse to see it until they give up the case with WB or settle, if they don't let Watchmen come out and stop punishing fans. Tell `em we all wanted to see X4 but sorry, you bunch of jerks are holding a good movie hostage.

Well, gives them more time to work on Watchmen I guess.

HBO Scraps Adaptation of PREACHER (Article) - 8/27/2008 5:23:42 PM

Now, that I have had time to think about it, maybe it's a good thing. Whatever happened to Spawn? I remember watching that on HBO. Gone away never to come back? They probably would have taken 16 years to do 50 episodes, and cancel it right before they were to wrap it up. Seeing how they wanted to do one episode per comic. Not counting, one-shots and other odds and ends. Of course some serious time between seasons with the show being in a pseudo limbo. Maybe showtime should have it.

God help us, there next move will be to spoof, spoof movies.

More Info on the Fox vs. WB WATCHMEN Suit (Article) - 8/27/2008 7:12:13 AM

It will come out on time. Whatever the hell the deal is here though, it's really confusing. I mean, I think I get it, but it's dumb. Somebody will wave money, and hollywood is full of whores and someone will take the money and say sure, yeah. Or they'll get a bigger piece. But, I'd truly be suprised if the movie was delayed at all. But, stranger things have happened.
