Eh...if the dude can act, I don't really mind. Then again, I'm not the biggest FF fan to start with.
Besides, the term "being considered for the role" isn't anything substantial. Fox is purposely exploiting this casting rumor to drum up hype and controversy over the project on sites like this, which is unfortunate since they're taking advantage of a genuine talent based off of his skin color being a break from the status quo for the Torch.
If they go ahead with this casting and the promotional material shows promise, I may check it out. I don't hold out much hope for FF films under Fox in general. They pepper projects with actors from other Fox products that either work (Chiklis as Thing) or don't (NIP/TUCK jackass as Doom). A black Human Torch is the least of our worries. We may get DeVito as Mole Man and Louis CK as Annihilus...
...then again, maybe this film will be AWESOME...for the wrong reasons...;)
Looks pretty good. Did I see a Jean Grey flashback in there?
Just got back from seeing it. I really enjoyed the first 2/3's of the film. When they start moving towards the conclusion, it started to lose me a bit. Beautifully shot all throughout, but pretty much after the scene that was based after the short film, they just kept showing the entity more and more and it just didn't seem as terrifying as in the beginning. Still a fun watch though.
I saw this on Friday. Yeah, it's not the greatest gangster film or anything too cerebral, but it definitely has a B-movie cheesy, fun energy to it. The story is very by the numbers, but at no point was I ever really bored watching it. It was entertaining and not nearly deserving of the critical thrashing it's getting.
That gag reel was hilarious. Cobie Smulders' screaming for Coulson was cracking me up. And Ruffalo: "Dude, you guys are on your own!"
I really liked it. As a "teaser," it certainly did its job 'cause my interest is peaked to see more. We got the Jonathan Kent voiceover at my screening, and I gotta say, the audience was really taken by surprise. Someone next to me really wondered if it was another kind of Perfect Storm movie, but as soon as the little kid with the red blanket for a cape (I'm guessing it's Clark as a kid?) showed up, everyone started to catch on and by the time you see Supes flying, everyone was cheering. I think that encapsulates the feeling of a teaser pretty well: you really don't know what it's supposed to be and then in the last 20 seconds or so, you are pleasantly surprised.
Sorry to hear about the shooting. That really was some sad sobering news to wake up to considering the fun time I had at my midnight screening. My thoughts are with the victims and their families.
About the actual film: I liked it a lot. But even though I liked Hardy's Bane (despite not understanding his dialogue at times), I gotta say that he wasn't "scary." He was fascinating to watch and intimidating, but at no point did he ever come off as creepy or terrifying. It was still a great film and still a great performance, but I definitely missed that eerie and uneasy presence that was represented so well by Ledger's Joker in Dark Knight.
Also liked how they referenced No Man's Land. Thought the ending was good, but kinda wished they had just held the shot on Michael Caine and left it ambiguous as to what he's reacting to.
Despite those quibbles, a very enjoyable watch. Think I'll go again tonight. :D
Nice list. Personally, I would have liked to see Year One on here, too, just because it really brought an "everyman"-type quality to Bruce Wayne I felt by showing his not-so-successful first attempts at crimefighting (not to mention the clear influence on Nolan's movies). A second choice would have been the introduction of Robin since he did kind of open the gateway for a larger "Batman Family." Plus, we wouldn't have had as good a comic series like Wolfman & Perez's Teen Titans if Dick Grayson had never been created...;)
Saw this at midnight and really enjoyed the ride. Did they change a lot of things from the book? Yeah, but I felt it stood as its own enitity. Historical accuracy? Pfffht! No way, but if you're going to a movie called Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter for an accurate historical account of the real-life President, you may want to rethink your priorities a little...;)
All in all, this film was just FUN. The actors were likable in their roles, the action was stylish and brutal and the 3D was honestly really cool (and I usually hate 3D). It feels like a lot of critic's complaints about this film are echoing complaints about Cowboys & Aliens last year, which I thought was good, too. Like these films don't deserve to be done with a serious tone, they HAVE to be jokes or comedically-driven. Are they high art or prestigious award-winners? No, they're fun action movies with engaging characters that you should be able to cheer for as much as you laugh at.

Looks pretty cool. It would be kinda awesome if the guy in the hoodie they showed jumping out of the exploding building turned out to be Luke Cage.
