Marvel Entertainment has posted their first look at Tuesday's all-new episode of Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. titled “0-8-4”. In “0-8-4” Skye (Chloe Bennet) officially joins the team and Agents Ward (Brett Dalton) and May (Ming-Na Wen) aren't too happy with Agent Coulson’s (Clark Gregg) decision.  “0-8-4” premieres Tuesday at 8:00 p.m. ET on ABC.

Check out Mania’s review of the Pilot here

Synopsis: Clark Gregg reprises his role of Agent Phil Coulson from Marvel’s feature films as he assembles a small, highly select group of Agents from the worldwide law-enforcement organization known as S.H.I.E.L.D. Together they investigate the new, the strange, and the unknown across the globe, protecting the ordinary from the extraordinary. Coulson's team consists of Agent Grant Ward (Brett Dalton), highly trained in combat and espionage, Agent Melinda May (Ming-Na Wen) expert pilot and martial artist, Agent Leo Fitz (Iain De Caestecker); brilliant engineer and Agent Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) genius bio-chemist. Joining them on their journey into mystery is new recruit and computer hacker Skye (Chloe Bennet).

The only problem is that this show is on ABC. To those with children, hey that works pretty well. But man, I'm nit saying Nolan-it (quite frankly tired of the phrase) though while watching, I'm not too convinced with the characters. Comic book nods and references to the past movies will only go so far. Hopefully I'm proven wrong once things get "intense" or deeper, farther along.

Lost was also on ABC, so is Grey's Anatomy, Revenge, etc, point being that just because it's on ABC doesn't mean it's intended solely for kids. Yeah, something like F/X or AMC would have given them a chance to go a bit darker, but that's not what the MCU is about. The MCU is intended to be comicbooks with real people in them. There aren't a whole lot of "mature audience" Avengers books out there.

I actually think this is a serious issue. I think this is one of - not the only, or the worst, by any means - the problems with the Star Wars prequels. People forgot that George Lucas was making movies for 12 year olds. His original 12-year-old audience thought they were still being made for them and got pissed that they were "kids" movies.

Look back at the Marvel films. There's a reason they didn't do "Demon in a Bottle" as a movie story. They kept even the darkest parts of the film universe pretty light, because they knew there were be kids filling those seats next to their parents. SHIELD will run the same way.

I agre WarCry.  I think that's where the some of animosity for Iron Man 3 came from.  It wasn't a kids comic book brought to life on the big screen.  It was a little more cerebral than some of the other MU movies.  People cried that it was a "Tony Stark" movie and not an "Iron Man" movie.  Ya' know what?  They've all been Tony Stark movies.  They've been movies about how Tony Stark deals with the world around him.  Every super hero movie/tv series is just that - how the heroes deal with the world around them.  Just in these cases, they put on masks and punch out bad guys. I'm interested to see how the characters on SHIELD develop and deal with this wonderful world they've been written in to.

Also, it's funny to think back 20-25 years.  Who back then would've thought DC would be the grittier, more serious comic company (and movie/tv company) and Marvel would have the glossy, family friendier stock.

Good points, WarCry. I was solely a Netflix guy for a while, so I never really paid attention. But yeah, it was only the first episode, so I still have yet to see the show wade out into the deep end. Not bashing it by any means, I'll be watching a few more episodes before that happens. Haha.

Another thing to keep in mind, is also a Joss Whedon show.  None of his past shows really started out overly dark or gritty...and even when his shows go a bit dark, there's still usually plenty of humor in the journey.  I'm sure that at some point in the series he'll deal with some meatier material, but I'm really digging it so far.

I'm definitely ready for more. My fear is that it will continue to be linear. Coulson is the man, though. Like I said, I shouldn't judge on the first episode, but a first episode does usually set the tone. I do, however, appreciate all the info from you guys and I'll gladly accept more. Joss Whedon has definitely proven himself for years and continues to do well.

Let the haters hate, I think this show rocks and it is only going to get better with time. Bring on the Wrecking Crew, AIM, and HYDRA! Bring on all the cool Marvel villains. Agents of SHIELD has tons of potential.

im willing to wait. Buffy didnt exactly become a hit with one episode, nor did firefly, or heck even some of the biggest series on tv. The show has a TON of potential, and it looks kinda like a writers dream. Yes, there will be limits as yo what the series can/cant do but we dont have to worry yet. Im most interested to see how or even if theyll tie it in to avengers 2, thor and captain america.

So far I get the vibe they are not going to go with even 2nd or 3rd tier villians and heroes with this show.  They are going to force the crew they got now down our throats with "personal" backstories.  They are probably hoping they get popular enough to intro the crew into regular comics.  It's probably going to take low ratings to get them to see things our way and get more comics related people on this show for next season if picked up.  Like what they are doing with Arrow now bringing in Boy Speedy and Flash.
