So are the movies......
As much as I was NOT looking forward to this reboot, I was pleasantly surprised by the Star Trek movie that Abrams put together. I really found myself enjoying it, and have enjoyed it each time I put the DVD in and sit back and watch.
This story arch does NOT have to be a re-telling of Wrath at all, but simply the re-introduction of Kahn into the Star Trek Universe, now that the timeline has been so messed up, thanks to Nero's actions.
I am personally excited about this and cannot wait to see what they have planned!
If we're going to compare Burton Batman and Nolan Batman, I have only one thing to say: Burton's Batmobile was FAR SUPERIOR to Nolan's silly Tumbler Batmobile. There, that's all I can say at this point that has not been discussed!
Now, hating on Avatar, that's SO easy. It was a TERRIBLE movie, with awful acting, atrocious script, cliche'd story, and forgetful music score. FX were great, for a while, then got old. All around, if I gave it a rating, I would use Rotten Tomatoes % scale and give Avatar a 10% rating. Probably the only movie worse than Avatar is Plan 9 from Outer Space, and IT'S a classic bad movie!
You all who know me know where I stand on Remakes, Re-imagining, re-whatevering movies. I don;t mind the occasional remake, if it is done right, like with Invasion of the Body Snatchers done in 1978. THAT is an example of a remake that is done CORRECTLY and faithfully to the original, yet bringing new elements to the story without compromising it.
Now, we not only get tons of remakes, but most completely SUCK!!! Doing remakes before the "original" has even had a chance to become part of history is even worse, and it's getting more and more prolific today!
I still think that the PC Game, TRON 2.0 was a better sequel to the original movie than TRON Legacy, though Legacy was a pretty fun flick, but not classic like the original TRON. The game is still incredible to play and really immerses the player into the TRON Universe. I still play it today, even though it came out in 2005. Great game!
How about Cameron NOT make sequels to quite possibly one of the WORST movies ever made? All they'll be is Over-CGI'd, horribly acted, cliche'd filled crapfests like the first one. The ONLY thing good about Avatar was the visuals, and they got old and boring after about an hour into the film. To this day, I cannot sit thorugh that mess of a movie without either laughing at the piss-poor acting, or getting bored with the "been there-done that" story.
Meh, looks like another over-blown "Transformers" wannabe, and that's NOT a good thing.......I'll wait 'till the cable release......if I even bother to watch it then.
Hanso, I didn't know Jarrod was a Houstonian! ME TOO!! Native one, and have lived here all my life!!
Live Long and Prosper!

I am so stoked for this movie. This, along with The Avengers should keep my brain in constant bliss for months!!
