First off, before I make my comment on T4, I want to address Metalwater. YOU sir seem to be constantly stating negatives in reviews, and now, in this case, one that isn't even about the topic in question. You decide that you need to jump on Lucas and his Star Wars prequels. I think we all KNOW you didn't like them, so constantly spouting about it is getting OLD OLD OLD! You know, there are those that DO like the prequels, and do admit they weren't as good as the originals, but give Lucas SOME credit. He did end the prequels with a great story-line in EP3(I know, you'll disagree AGAIN on this). And I agree with Flat and DarkJedi about Lucas' directing. He's NOT Hitchcock, but not many are. If YOU, Metalwater, could do a much better job of directing, and coming up with new cinematic technology, and a better story than what Lucas did in EP1-3, then by all means, DO SO, but shut up about it otherwise. Walk the walk, don't just talk the talk! Now, on to T4. I ask, WHY? I mean, T1 and 2 were fantastic, and T3 was OK, but by no means had the "power" of the first 2. It seemed off-kilter and the time-line was messed up by the fact that in T2, Skynet was supposed to have been destroyed, and no more traces of the Terminators would be made because of this. But somehow they found a "loophole" and made it possible for T3 to be made. Now we have T4. Not sure how this will work in the time-line either. TayDor has a great idea there, I admit! The only problem I really had with T3 was the time-line continuity. It just seemed a bit odd considering the events that were supposed to be "ended" in T2. But, we'll just hafta wait and see what they come up with. I still love the whole "Terminator" story line!
The Live Action show sounds excellent! If it can be done with a more gritty ESB feel in the likes of the new Battlestar Galactica(excellent show, btw), it could really work. I am, I must admit, one of those few Star Wars "Old Timers" that actually liked the prequels(well, except for AoTC), but I hope he stays away from that "feel". Also, this series needs to be on HBO. I agree with some above that if it's on SAci-Fi or FX, there'll be too many commercials and the series will be lumped together with Eureka or Flash Gordon, and that can't be a good thing! I'm not sure about the timeline, though. I think the SW universe as we know it has been fleshed out enough, with all the books, the 6 movies, and so on, that I think it would be better to have a story line based on events after RotJ.
No. No no no no!!! WHY?!?!? First, it's a remake of Logan's Run news that upsets me. Now we find out that Follywood is making a sequel to TRON?!?!? What the hell is wrong with Follywood? They already HAVE a "sequel", and it was brilliant! Tron 2.0 for the PC! Excellent story. Fantastic visuals. And since it is a GAME, it put YOU right into the action! This is pathetic! Why can't Follywood come up with ORIGINAL IDEAS anymore? They suck. This will suck. And the Logan's Run remake will SUCK. LEAVE THE CLASSICS ALONE!!! DAMNIT!!!
MadManiac999, they already DID another Tron. It was Tron 2.0 for the PC(amd other systems, but the PC version ruled). It continued the story and was a visual masterpiece! Great game! IF they do a MOVIE, it should be based off of that game!
Actually, this sounds more like Kevin J Anderson's "Hopscotch", or Richard K. Morgan's "Altered Carbon", NOT Johnny Neumonic. Both books deal with this subject matter, and would probably make better movies than this one.
This is the reason George Lucas said he will never allow "Time Travel" to be used in any Star Wars stories. He says it makes for a less dramatic and "easy" way to "save" the characters in a given situation. I agree. Star Trek has used the "Time Travel" pitch way way way too often. You'd think, after so many jaunts back and forth in time, something would have been messed up, or have discontinuity, but it all seems to snap back together without issues, for the most part. "First Contact" was a good example of doing it right, but again, time travel is over-used in Trek. This plot, if it stays on track, will be terrible! And silly. Looks like we have another "Nemesis"(which I felt was the absolute WORST of the Trek films, with the exception of "Final Frontier"), and it will only solidify the notion that Star Trek has over-stayed it's welcome. The best thing they could do is NOT do this movie, and don't even THINK about making ANOTHER TV spinoff. Star Trek's films should have stopped at "First Contact". Now THAT was an excellent Trek film, the best of TNG cast and probably as good as "Wrath of Kahn", if not better, IMO.
I always have loved Poltergeist since it truly scared the BeJezus out of me when I was younger. I really loved the "storm scenes" and the "swimming pool" scene. The late Jerry Goldsmith's music had a creepy eerie feel to it that made the movie that much better. I can't wait to get this!
Just another classic that's going to be dumbed down for the masses, and will be as much of a failure as The Invasion was! Does Hollywood HAVE any original ideas anymore? What's next, a re-make of Forbidden Planet? God help us if they do!

I hate this idea as much as ANY piece of classic Hollywood that is being "remade" or "re-envisioned" for a new generation of movie goers. What a load of crap! TDTESS is one of the all-time greatest science fiction movies ever. It's right there along with Forbidden Planet. And I hope to HELL they don't decide to remake that one too! I'd heard a while back that some studio was considering remaking The Andromeda Strain, but due to pressure from Wise, the original director, Michael Crichton, the author, and many fans of the movie, they have dumped that project, for now. Lets hope the producers of this remake have major problems, and decide to cancel this remake too! And WhiskeyMovie, it's not that it's a remake so much as that Hollywood's recent foray into remaking these films has been lackluster, at best. They are actually RUINING the original idea by trying to add a bunch of FX and the acting isn't up to par! Example: One of John Carpenter's best horror flicks he did was The Fog. Simple. Scary. No Gore(for the most part). Visuals were what they needed to be. Then, Hollywood does a remake, and we have a TERRIBLE movie, with over-the-top FX for the "fog" itself, and the story is even changed, somewhat. THAT is what I personally hate about these new "modern remakes". Unlike when in 1978, we got a remake of the '50's classic, Invasion of the Body Snatchers. Some say the '78 version is the best of the two. THEN, we get 4 more takes on it, with the dismal "The Invasion" being the latest. THAT is the point I'm making about the recent rash of remakes coming out of Hollywood. It seems they no longer care about CONTENT or the STORY, just jee-wizz FX and mindless plots! Much like Hollywood's "regular" films!
