CBS Grabs New HAWAII FIVE-O - Aug 22, 2008 - 12:14pm
So now the main character will be Steve McGarrett's son Chris? I wonder if Chris' arch-enemy will be the son of Wo-Fat?
"Put out an APB on Wai-Fat!"
(Cue the theme music!)
Personally I think it would better as a send up, perhaps with some parodying Jack Lord's performance. Perhaps David Ducovney or Ben Stiller or some such? But maybe it's impossible because how can you replace Chin Ho or Dano?
Bloodgood Fights in New TERMINATOR - Apr 21, 2008 - 12:10pm
Good for Moon Bloodgood, she was great on "Journeyman" which is all I've ever seen her in other than I think the very short-lived "Daybreak" series. Too bad that "Journeyman" got canceled because I really thought it had some potential.
Tony Soprano Takes on PELHAM - Mar 24, 2008 - 08:22am
I don't remember the character of the mayor from the original film-now that I think about it I think it was the Ed Koch look-alike guy who has played a ot of NYC mayors, but this is a good reason to go back and rewatch the 1974 version.
If you've never seen it, it's a definite must see. It's a great little pot boiler of a film with Walter Matthau as a NYC detective (or maybe he's a transit cop I forget exactly) who spends a lot of the film trying to negotiate with the hijackers and figure out how to catch them. Robert Shaw plays the head of the kidnappers all of whom have names like Mr. Brown and Mr Blue and so on, I suppose the inspiration for the same bit in "Reservoir Dogs" which this could be the "prequel" of.
The ending is really great as are some of the scenes where the cops are racing through NYC with the ransom money to try to keep the hijackers from killing another hostage. Matthau is wonderful as the hangdog cop who acts dumb but is smart like a fox.
Put it at the top of your Netflix queue. It's a five-star thriller.
TERMINATOR Loses the Salvation Title - Mar 11, 2008 - 08:11am
I've got a novel idea.
Why don't they just hire JAMES FUCKING CAMERON?
You know, the guy who made TWO sure-fire box office SMASHES! And CREATED the whole damned franchise!
I'm certain he'd have a better idea of what to do with the material than any of the pin-heads involved in this production.
Need I say more than T-3?
SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES: The Demon Hand - Feb 29, 2008 - 03:50pm
I think one of the bits overlooked in all these comments is that Cameron the ballerina terminator might be fighting cross programming or might be an outright plant by Skynet. The reason the brother Reese might hate her is either she or a twin model tortured him in that basement and he doesn't quite remember it, or that Cameron is like a sleeper terminator letting events play out to bring about Skynet and then readily staying close to John to be ready to kill him once Skynet's inevitability is certain.
What would be good would to keep casting suspicion on Cameron and let it create tension so that the audience would keep guessing whose side she's really on.
And as well John could be seen as trying to get Cameron to have free will, to encourage a certain humanity, understanding that right and wrong exist and that instead of killing off all the artificial intelligence, this android population - to instead make a peace with them after a fashion.
I think that could have a powerful positive message because that's what we all sort of wanted with Arnold's good terminator persona in T2. Like John we didn't want to see him die, that after a fashion though he claims crying is something he could never do he achieves humanity by reasoning that sacrifice of his life is necessarily.
It would raise the Terminator mythos to me to show John not just as the great military mind, as the warrior, but also as the peacemaker in an unlikely way.
WB Splits TERMINATOR Rights with Sony - Feb 26, 2008 - 05:32pm
monkeyfoot, I never thought the crappy Outer Limits story gave Ellison much of a case, I think the studio just settled with him to make him go away. I think for all his bluster, Ellison is pretty much a crap writer and wants far more credit and respect than his talent deserves. Have you ever read the script for his CotEoF? It's laughable that he thought Star Trek could have produced it on tv in 1967. To me, he's a blowhard and idiot.
Bottom line, Cameron WROTE and DIRECTED the first tow movies and lost control over his baby. T3 was ultimately a rip-off of Cameron and his fans. I don't have much confidence in this McG character.
The tv series OTOH isn't horrible so perhaps there's hope. Though the actors aren't terrible, I wish they could have cast someone who looked more like Linda Hamilton, but then that might have not been any more satifying, I think they certainly should have gone with an actress who was a little older and capable of seeming hard as nails as LH was able to do in T2, but again sometimes there's only so many actresses that can do that anyway. The FOX tv series is more compromise than solid successor to the films. About the best thing you can say about it is with reruns on Monday night there's not anything better on to watch.
I do like Summer Glau or whatever her name is as the female Terminator, but so far the scripts haven't given her a lot to work with other than being comic relief. I guess they don't have a huge stunt and FX budget because most of the Terminator on Terminator fights so far are pretty anemic and boring.
Like any story that grows to a franchise of continuing stories, movies, tv shows and such, Terminator doesn't have anyplace to go but down because of all the conflicting interests, writers and inputs from people devoid of creativity and story-telling abilities.
Better to just pop the Cameron movies in from time to time and enjoy them and not dwell on the dumbness of today and what might have been.
WB Splits TERMINATOR Rights with Sony - Feb 26, 2008 - 09:12am
I wonder what Cameron must think of the total appropriation of his ideas by others? While I find the tv series on Fox interesting, I feel a twinge of guilt when I think that Cameron might be pulling his hair out in frustration over how his baby is now wholly out of his control.
T3 had bits that were entertaining, but they were basically things that referenced the best parts of the first two movies. The utterly downer ending, the female Terminator and Claire Danes were elements that just didn't work on screen however they looked in the script.
Someplace I remember hearing Cameron gave Arnold his blessing to do T3 as I recall because the studio was going to do it anyway so basically go ahead and reap the money and get paid. I got the idea that Cameron was pretty pragmatic that it was long out of his control which is really sad.
It also never fails to fascinate me how someone can make such a hit as Cameron did and then have the money guys shoot themselves in the feet grandstanding to take control from the guy who originated the ideas and made them a surefire hit in the first place.
And it's further ironic that the theme of the movies is that humans are so foolish that we get our asses kicked by automaton robots. Much like how we ordinarily let bureaucrats and functionaries out-maneuver us and steal power from us and lead us to destruction.
"We're not gonna make it, are we? People, I mean."
"It's in your nature to destroy yourselves."
"Yeah. Major drag, huh?"
Vanderbilt Updates on Writing SPIDER-MAN 4 - Feb 02, 2008 - 07:40am
Other than JK Simmons and the actress that plays his secretary and Rosemary Harris that plays Aunt May I think the whole cast could be replaced for my taste. I don't know who would make a better Peter/Spidey, but I'm not in love with Tobey as Peter particularly. I actually liked Harris alot as Aunt May who was a wonderful improvement over the crappy, needy clingy character she was in the comics. Cliff Robertson as Uncle Ben made me sorry his character had to be dead to serve the storyline. Robertson and Defoe deserve a lot of credit for being willing to come back and do essentially cameos in the sequels. Dunst just looks stranger and stranger with each movie and the whole romance thing just went utterly south in 3. The character of Mary Jane could just go away entirely for my taste.
/my 2 cents...
LEGEND Has Record Breaking Debut - Dec 16, 2007 - 06:38pm
When I saw it last night with a theater full of teens and Navy personel from our nearby base the buzz as they filed out was people saying variations of "Well that sucked" and I thought the ending really did because it was basically the only place all these post-apocalyptic stories have to go.
****SPOILER*****
Can you imagine going to live with a bunch of people in a backward compound probably and likely reverting to some fundamentalist Christian end-of-the-world nut enclave? Would it really be better than living in zombie Manhattan? Would there really be anyone up there that would know what to do with that vial of blood?
The preachy "WE DID THIS!" tone was grating. Hell the only thing that's ever prevented something bad like zombie-fying the world like that is the total implausibility of it happening. It's a miracle humans haven't ended the world a dozen times over since the atom was split, so what was the point of that?
Myself I thought the zombies, excuse me, "dark seekers" looked FAKE, FAKE, FAKE. And as for the scary inside the dark hive building where why didn't Neville have a bunch of those hand grenades handy or some flares? Or RPG? There should have been shitloads of that stuff laying around? Hasn't Neville ever seen the guns in a Wil Smith movie? I was surprised he went in with anything less than a noisy cricket.
And suddenly the alpha male zombie got smart enough to do a counter snare? PLEASE! And speaking of the snare thing, didn't that whole creepy mannequins in the music store seem monumentally stupid?
The visuals of lifeless NYC were really stunning and really the only thing that makes it worth the price of admission, but for me the movie began a descent into silliness as soon as Neville went to the record store and made eyes at the mannequin. It never impressed me after that. Not even killing off the dog. Like in 1,001 days before that the dog wouldn't have already run into some building and gotten bit or eaten? It was cheap pap. From there on out is was as silly as the Heston version for me.
At least there was "The Dark Knight" trailer though I don't have any high hopes for that other than it will be pretty to look at in places.
Updated: How Long Before Your Shows Go Dark? - Dec 14, 2007 - 05:51am
I wish I knew where "Journeyman", "LIFE" and "Moonlight" were as to if there are anymore left and if between low ratings and the WGA strike they are basically canceled already.
I'd trade any of those shows for the putrid "Lost" or other dreck like "Pushing Daisies". Shit, the promos for the the latter look so retarded you have to be a drooler to want to watch it. Who are the retards watching that crap?
Was that too opinionated? Let me try again:
The people who created, write, star-in and watch "Carpoolers" or "Cavemen" ought to be taken out and shot, or barring that be sterilized so they don't pass their clearly recessive genes onto another generation.
Wait, was that too harsh? Mmm... let me try one more time:
I wish I believed in Hell because there should be a special ring in to for the people that waste our airwaves on ABC's crapfests like "Desperate Housewives", "Ugly Betty" or the satanic "Gray's Anatomy". May you all fans of that become McKrispy!
/Man, I gotta cut back on my caffeine...
First Set photo of X-FILES 2 Online - Dec 12, 2007 - 08:19am
I'm surprised that it'll have been 10 years since the previous film. In many ways they should have ditched the tv show and done a movie every year or two instead.
I wonder if the inclusion of Peet means that Gillian's looks have reached their sell-by date?
I also wonder if Mitch Pileggi, Robert Patrick or Annabeth Gish will show up for this? I though Agents Doggett & Reyes were great and what will "The X-Files" be without Skinner?
I fear this movie is a case of striking while the fire has long since turned to ashes...
HELLBOY Fully Loaded in New Photo - Dec 12, 2007 - 05:51am
Is Perlman officially a senior citizen yet? Because we need more senior citizen action heroes. Cause it would be funny if both Perlman AND Hellboy both qualify for the AARP discount at the pancake buffet...
Also we don't have nearly enough Selma Blair movies.
And I hope all the demons and stuff piss off the amusing religious nuts.
New BATSUIT Photo Appears on CineLive - Dec 09, 2007 - 05:54am
Add some nipples to this one and it's instantly back to the Gay Knight look. Not that there's anything wrong with that...
But this whole angle trying to steep Batman in a more realistic world than the former arch tv series or campy Burton movies isn't making the Bat any less creepy, and putting Bale in it isn't helping either.
Even Bale's lispy speech impediment lent an unintended hilarity to "Batman Begins". "Will & Grace" had more hetero chemisty that Bale and Katie Holmes. I can't see recasting Holmes part making that any better.
Since I passed the age of 13 I haven't cared about watching Adam West sashay around in his tights with his seeming Quaalude slurred lines like "Quick Robin! To the Batcave!" which he managed to deliver as if such lines were anything BUT urgent.
However I have to say with each "improvement" to the Dark Knight the character seems to get gayer and feyer than the outright wink and nod that the West/Ward version had.
I still think Keaton played the part the best even if the movie all around him was a load of camp crap. Bale just doesn't do it for me, perhaps because I can never get that crazy "American Psycho" character out of my head. No matter what the Batsuit looks like he still seems like some sort of homo-psychokiller. That suit ain't doing him any favors.
Nor does it do any good to keep showing stuff like the cape becoming a glider which any kid who passed 8th grade science knows wouldn't work any better than a can of spray 'shark repellent'...
The world of Batman works okay on a comic page, but putting it on the big screen always seems to make it look sillier and sillier the harder they try.
NBC Orders Full Season for CHUCK & LIFE - Nov 27, 2007 - 03:20am
I second the sentiment regarding "Journeyman". I wonder though if NBC will sacrifice it because it probably doesn't do well against CSI:Miami. You know how stupid people love those stupid CBS shows.
I hope the writer's strike doesn't make the rest of the season a wash because with a lot of NBC's shows like Chuck, Heroes, Journeyman, Life, (grudgingly) Bionic Woman plus the comedy lineup they have on Thursdays this has been the best year for new tv in a long time.
I miss me some Daily Show most of all...
SAW IV Hits DVD January 22 - Nov 26, 2007 - 01:39pm
There's nothing like watching people tormented horribly to death in hi-def I suppose for some of our fellow Americans.
If they can figure out how to combine this with group bukkake porn torture I think Hollywood can really push their box office accounting into a hyper-mathematics realm.
ENCHANTED Jumps Ahead of Hitman - Nov 24, 2007 - 07:00pm
I'm just so happy that the constant "Hitman" promo commercials seemed to have slacked off. That this turd tanks and everyone involved would die in a fire would make it even better.
I don't know anything about this film, but the weird image of the nerdy bald dude with the billowing red tie and American flag thing was really getting on my nerves. Was that supposed to make him look like a super tough bad ass? Cause he looked hopelessly faggy to me.
"A sinner will become a saint." ??? What was he, some altar boy who got turned out by a priest working for the CIA? What kind of saint has a barcode mark o' the beasty tatted on his skull and kills people with automatic weapons? St Remington of Smith & Wesson?
All the trailers for the film made it look like some Saturday Night Live joke commercial without the punchline at the end.
And how long have they been running basically the same inane tv commercial? Over a month? Aren't there any FCC regulations to prevent them from abusing the public this way?
I'm so sick of seeing the stupid HITMAN commercial I wanna pop a cap in the ass of everyone involved in making the film just because of how much it's gotten on my nerves. I would only see it if it was 90 minutes of someone shoving those gun up the hitman's ass.
Seriously, does that skinny fey bald dude look like he would last five seconds trying to kick ass against any other movie action hero?
What would make me happy with those stupid tv commercials is to see Bruce Willis pop up and shoot him with a hearty "Yippie-o-kiyay muthafukka!"
It's commercials for crap like this that make me wish I had some sort of ad-blocker with a big DO NOT WANT button to stop this madness.
Ben Cross as Sarek in STAR TREK - Nov 19, 2007 - 06:15pm
I wonder if this picture means Sarek will be sword fighting in this movie because that would be cool.
Sword fighting WHILE chewing scenery with his bare teeth! Or maybe he could have BEAR teeth!
We are changing stuff around right?
Kirk's Father & Nero's General Cast in TREK - Nov 14, 2007 - 04:12am
At this point there's only one thing to do:
We go back in time and prevent Roddenberry's parents from ever meeting.
It's the only ethical thing to do at this point to restore the time-line.
SPOCK'S Mother Will Be Human - Nov 10, 2007 - 08:47pm
At least this time around Spock's mom will have an awesome rack.
Hey, it's SOMETHING.
I'm wondering why we aren't seeing any peeks at sets or how they are going to match the look to or deviate from TOS?
Greenwood Captains Crew in STAR TREK - Nov 08, 2007 - 02:33am
Actually I think he'll be a great choice for Pike, but I'm heartbroken my first choice for Pike wasn't cast:

STAR TREK Casting Call Online - Nov 07, 2007 - 01:55pm

Three New Spots For I AM LEGEND - Nov 07, 2007 - 11:49am
Yeah, the Tom Cruise analogy IS apt because like Cruise he's always playing someone with skills and intelligence I can't believe he actually could ever have.
Cruise as an F-14 pilot in "Top Gun" or Smith as a Hornet pilot in "ID4"? Pull my other leg!
Here he's a 'brilliant scientist' gettin' all up in some science an' shiat? Gonna kick some virus' punk ass? Negro please!
X-FILES 2 Hits Theaters Next Summer - Nov 01, 2007 - 01:19am
I see the opening shot already. There is sand in the desert near blasted ruins which begins to stir in a wholly unholy, unnatural way and it swirls and bulges and forms into the shape of - a man!
A CIGARETTE SMOKING SAND MAN!
Or maybe they could just go with Duchovny in a Speedo fighting aliens or something...

Obviously this policy worked out so great on the epic success that was "Superman Returns".
Way to go DC!

The New Look of CAPTAIN AMERICA - Oct 14, 2007 - 01:01am
There's an easy fix to STOP this.
Stephen Colbert can just refuse to give back Cap's shield.
SURFER Tops Off DVD Market - Oct 11, 2007 - 08:47pm
I stand by my opinion that this film was a total turd.
And Alba seems to be made up to look like she's eternally 14 and can't act for shit. I don't get the appeal she seems to hold.
And Andre Braugher ought to be ashamed to have fallen so far as to be in this film getting punked by that weird Nip Tuck dude.
Seriously, what is wrong with you people? Has George Lucas and Michael Bay totally lowered your standards for what constitutes a good movie???
SURFER Tops Off DVD Market - Oct 11, 2007 - 09:22am
Oh please. I waited to see it via Netflix this week and the film is as big a peace of crap as the first one. The nicest thing I can say about it is that the horrible Thing costume looks marginally better than the disaster it was in the first film.
There's only a few shots where the Surfer looks believable and you've seen them ALL in the trailers. The rest of the time he looks like the computer animation he is.
The film is horribly miscast all the way around and I'm still utterly mystified by the appeal of Jessica Alba who seems to be some sort of pedo-sex-symbol no matter how old she gets. The weird guy who plays Richard Reed just doesn't do it for me, nor does the unlikable idiot playing Torch. I've loathed Chiklis just from having to watch commercials for the insipid "Commish" and can't think of a worst guy to play Grim.
While I was working the other day I put the film on one more time and listened to director Story's commentary with all of his whining about how he had to cut all the terrific stuff he had planned that I'm amazed they even bothered to make this mess.
INCREDIBLE HULK Bottling Rage in Brazil? - Oct 03, 2007 - 11:30am
How hard is it really to FIND Banner?
I mean the American military and spy people can't find Bin Laden because let's face it everyone where he's hiding has a beard and turban.
But Banner? Look for the guy wearing PURPLE PANTS! There's like only TWO of them!
"Ah, false alarm guys. This dude really is the Artist Known as Prince. And man, is he scrawny."
"Yeah we're looking for the OTHER scrawny guy in purple pants."
EARTH STANDS STILL A Few Months Later - Sep 26, 2007 - 06:47am
What a crock! With so many original stories in sci-fi literature that haven't been ruined by Hollywood yet why are they deciding to deface one of the handful of good sci-fi movies ever made?
I hope everyone connected with this to DIAF.
Apollo Chaos in INCREDIBLE HULK - Sep 20, 2007 - 10:09am

Uhura Cast & Plot for Abrams' STAR TREK? - Aug 31, 2007 - 09:10am
This whole project stinks other than as something to make fun of. The last time I heard an idea this inane was when it was rumored Nick Cage was going to be the next Superman years ago.
If Nimoy is going to be in this film, then this whole movie is going to have to be a flashback or time travel and this spoiler is indeed plausible given that.
The question is if this turns out to be the turd many, me included, expect that it will be if that will finally about wrap things up for Star Trek?
Uhura Cast & Plot for Abrams' STAR TREK? - Aug 31, 2007 - 05:09am
Just as I suspected. The Enterprise is caught in a temporal causality loop yet again.
I suggest we decompress the Main Shuttle Bay to push the Enterprise out of the way of the errant Romulans.
I'm also disappointed the casting hasn't gone as I had hoped...

The FOURTH HORSEMAN Rides to Intrepid - Aug 28, 2007 - 02:53am
I hear they were going to name the kid "Levon", but turns out he may not grow up to be such a good man.
Often overlooked in the retelling of this mythology is the Fifth Horseman named "Tad" who is a mite ghey...
I wonder how many virgins you get in Heaven if you slay a Horseman of the Apocalypse? I'm thinking seventy-two virgins sounds about right, and with an average of say thirty seconds per pre-mature ejaculation you could go through all of them in, well, hey my math is a little rusty. But I digress.
What was I talking about? Oh, yeah, the end of the World. Horsemen. Don't we think this day in age they'd ride Harleys?
Nick Cage can always use the work.
Warner Bros Has SUPERMAN Cast in JLA Movie? - Aug 25, 2007 - 06:29pm
I hope Welling and the rest of the cast of "Smallville" could get a chance at the big screen, or at least that they could translate Superman onto to the small screen at some point.
I can't say I've ever been much of a fan of "Superman" even as a kid because he was often such a crap character and a lot of the time even Smallville has fallen on cheap Krypton hurts Clark storylines. Downplaying the 'super' invincibility of the character is what makes the Smallville Clark work when it does work and the cast are top notch and decent without troweling on the good-two shoes stuff like the Reeve movies did.
Trying to imagine the characters all immersed in their costumes for 2 hours though and less of the human characters that Smallville is built on might nullify Welling’s contribution and presence. Nothing will matter if it's a nonsense story like "Superman Returns" or "X-Men 3".
New Red Band BEOWULF Trailer - Aug 25, 2007 - 04:49am
I already saw this on Movie List or someplace that has the international trailer. What's different is that you see the video game animation of Jolie's tits for a split second and the video game animation nipples are covered in GOOOLLLDDD!
Which would be funny if it were an Austin Powers movie, but I think this thing is going to be laughed out of theaters.
AND it's going to be a bane for any student who has to take a class where they MAKE you read "Beowulf".
Remember kids, NEVER, EVER, EVER take a class where they make you read "Beowulf".
New Red Band BEOWULF Trailer - Aug 24, 2007 - 05:13pm
I'm in the US and can't seem to get past the restriction. What's this "US Government Issued-ID" b.s. anyhow? I saw this Ray Winstone guy in some PR thing for the new Indy movie he's in and he sure is a lot tubbier than his 'digital' Beowulf character. I think this is shaping up to be another turd from Robert Zemeckis.
INDIANA JONES 4 Update: New Video - Aug 14, 2007 - 01:49pm
I happen to remember Karen Allen in "The Perfect Storm" from seven years ago and she HAS aged quite a bit. Any 50 something would look good in a video clip that is so low-rez.
As for anticipating the film, if it's another Raiders or Crusade, yeah, great. But I also remember what a steaming pile of shit Temple of Doom was. I just watched it again the other day on Netflix and it was even worse than I remembered.
Yeah, this one is for 'us', the fans. If it blows chunks, do you think they'll refund our price of admission?

A Look at the BIONIC WOMAN CC Panel - Jul 29, 2007 - 10:50pm
The thing that bugs me about this is the 're-imagining' part.
Unlike say the original BSG, the old Bionic series wasn't so bad. Oh sure the science was often potty, but why couldn't Lindsay Wagner stay Jamie Summers and have the new girl be a new character? That would have given them the ability to fudge the re-imagining so that Lindsay Wagner could do cameos or take over the Oscar Goldman function at the very least.
I mean, come on, poor Lindsay Wagner is reduced to selling those stupid Sleep Number mattresses? Don't we OWE her more than some vague promise of a cameo?

IIRC didn't Indy wear basically the the fashion of the day when he wasn't out in the field, i.e. when he was at the university he taught at?
Except for the fedora which might vary depending on hat preferences, the way Indy dresses in the field is pretty much the way ANYONE who works outdoors would dress. I wear a cowboy hat on the farm because it has a wider brim, but I would otherwise be dressed like Indy anytime I work or go hiking.

GALACTICA Going? - May 12, 2007 - 11:22am
An ending for Adama's character could be a bump up for the guy playing his son. There could be wonderful dramatic possibilities for killing off the elder Adama and even the President character in a sort of dual Moses who lead to but can't enter the promised land of Earth.
GALACTICA Going? - May 11, 2007 - 08:54pm
Not knowing really how grueling the production schedule might be on the cast and crew I suppose if they feel like it's time, then they are probably worn out and we need to bid them a thankful farewell.
Still though it would be great if they could go two more seasons, but I'm hopeful that they can pull out an ending that doesn't suck. The Bob Dylan thing gave me great pause with the end of this season as a huge wrong note. I hope for something like they find Earth, but it ends before we know WHEN in the history of Earth they've arrived. It would be great to wonder if it's at the dawn of civilization thousands of years ago or if it's the future so fans could imagine that anyway they wanted.
I just hope history DOESN'T repeat and we get some lame spin off like "Galactica 2010"...
FX Entangles SPIDER-MAN 3 - May 09, 2007 - 05:12am
At first I thought the headline was a pan review of the film...
Eric Roberts joins "The Dark Knight" - Apr 27, 2007 - 09:00am
I hope he's the guy that gets it from the Joker's hand buzzer.
"I'm glad you're dead!"
Malkovich, Lilly and Duris join "Afterwards" - Apr 14, 2007 - 11:30am
I'm sure they'll screw this up by having Malkovich naked but Lilly not. OTOH, once Lilly's clothes get lost then there will go the last shred of fascination she holds for her horny fans.
You know LOST is giving me a whole new appreciation for Gilligan and crew. At least they built huts and took showers and washed and pressed their clothes. Mary Ann and Ginger never looked as skanky as the girls of LOST.
Just sayin'
Scott Derrickson directing "The Day the Earth Stood Still" - Apr 11, 2007 - 09:06am
I hope that like the original, all the men wear hats.
Men today just don't wear enough hats.
Of course what will stretch credulity is the idea that we have enough tanks and National Guardsmen left in country to surround a flying saucer.
Some things you'll just have to suspend disbelief about.
Images of Stallone as "Rambo"! - Mar 26, 2007 - 11:30pm
Hollywood never makes the most obvious, audience pleasing movie.
What would make a Rambo movie that everyone would go see?
FIRST BLOOD RAMBO VS CHUCK NORRIS DELTA FORCE (or RANGER WALKER if you like)
No need to thank me. No charge. You're welcome Hollywood.
Airport Erases "Lost" Footage - Feb 12, 2007 - 10:00pm
Meh, they always seem to have the dumbest morons working airport security. I had a stupid heifer nuke 4"x5" sheet film in a Kodak film box despite me telling her it was film. In a yellow KODAK box. That said KODAK FILM. And this was ten years before 9-11.
It's that sort of abuse rather than terrorism or fear of crashing that makes me avoid commercial flying at all costs.
NBC Gives Green Light to "The Bionic Woman" - Jan 06, 2007 - 07:04pm
The can never cast someone to replace Lindsey Wagner, other than one time guest star Helen Hunt maybe who could bring the same tenor to the role. But she's at least if not over 40 too and wouldn't be cast. They'll go with the bimbo of the week and ruin it.
Even still I have seen some episodes of the original SMDM and BW several years ago and seeing the leisure suits of Steve Austin and the crap stories both shows had DVD sets probably would only sell to the hardest core fans.
It's just superman in another package and a clunky one at that. Why can't Hollywood think of something new and let the past be the past?
ABC cancels "Day Break" - Dec 18, 2006 - 06:25pm
I thought it was okay and I liked it regardless of the accusations of being a rip off of "Groundhog Day" and "The Butterfly Effect." Rather than be a rip-off I think it probably helps that the premise of the show isn't totally over the audience's head.
It probably would have been better if it had been a event sort of show like the Sci-Fi Channel's "The Lost Room" which also might suffer if you can't miss an episode or two and not be lost.
Trying to launch a show viewers have to be so dedicated to during the HOLIDAYS was madness anyway. I've missed episodes just due to my own familial madness.
Maybe Sci-Fi will give it a new lease on life?
I guess we'll all go back to watching prime time game shows, amateur hour singers and those darn precocious sitcom kids that are a barrel of laughs if you eat CheezWhiz by the barrel that is...
J.J. Abrams to direct "Star Trek XI" - Dec 08, 2006 - 02:29pm
Matt Damon as Cap'n Kirk?
Who's Spock and McCoy?
Let's picture this hmmm?

"Day Break: What if They’re Stuck?" - Dec 08, 2006 - 11:51am
I caught "Groundhog Day" on tv late last night and thought about "Daybreak" all the way through it on and off.
GD wasn't really that high-concept, but it's hard to remember what it was like to explain it to people who hadn't seen it before way back then. Now having a "groundhog day" is practially part of our idiom. That none of the idiots on this show admonish Taye Diggs character about the old movie is fairly unbelievable but then they were probably to cheap at ABC to pay for the rights.
Still I like this series better than I thought I would and it's a vast improvement over LOST. I could care less if it returns in January.
So now the main character will be Steve McGarrett's son Chris? I wonder if Chris' arch-enemy will be the son of Wo-Fat? "Put out an APB on Wai-Fat!" (Cue the theme music!) Personally I think it would better as a send up, perhaps with some parodying Jack Lord's performance. Perhaps David Ducovney or Ben Stiller or some such? But maybe it's impossible because how can you replace Chin Ho or Dano?
