Stan Winston Passes Away at 62 - Jun 17, 2008 - 08:10am
Somewhere, a T-800 and a Velociraptor are pouring one out for a fallen homey. At least Jim Henson will finally have someone to talk shop with. Thanks Stan!!

Update: Wilson and Main Cast Return for TRANSFORMERS 2 - May 29, 2008 - 07:58am
Is anybody else worried that John Turturro is listed as part of the returning cast? Wasn't it pretty much a consensus that the whole "Sector 7" part of the first movie was the opposite of a good time? I know they disbanded the organization at the end of the movie, so hopefully he's coming back in a role that won't be as cringe-worthy. The man can act; he just needs to be utilized better.

INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL - May 22, 2008 - 09:38am
Caught a sneak of it Tuesday night and I would have to say I'm surprised by some of these "A-" reviews I've been seeing. It's got some good action, but was there was a little too many "cute animal" scenes for me. Along the lines of the series, I would put above "Tomb" in quality, but still below "Raiders" & "Crusade". The thing I was most pleased with was that Harrison is just as good now as he was in "Raiders". Age didn't even come in to play in regards to action scenes.

Laura Dern Returns for JURASSIC 4 - May 19, 2008 - 07:21am
Agreed agreed. I read the first book 10 times and enjoyed the first movie, though definitely think they could have done a little better. I won't even discuss how they desicrated the second book-to-movie, which was especially surprising because I was under the impression that Chrichton was "highly motivated" by Universal to pump out a second book for them to adapt into another hit movie. Instead, they decided to pick and choose elements from the book and the spend half an hour on a horrible Godzilla-like ending. The whole movie trilogy was basically two books spread out over 3 movies, with the last two done very haphazardly, though I will say I enjoyed JP3 more then the JP2. As for JP4, of course I'm in. It's freakin' dinosaurs!!

Remake Coming for SHORT CIRCUIT - Apr 04, 2008 - 07:34am
That "Batteries Not Included" remake script I wrote is looking a hell of a lot more likely to see the light of day now :)

Millar and Gough Exit SMALLVILLE - Apr 03, 2008 - 07:43am
I'm definitely in the camp of "Season 7 (or hell, even 6) should have been the last", but agree that it will be interesting to see what direction the show takes without these two running it. I'd rather not see a season of "Clark in the City", but wouldn't mind seeing them wrapping some story lines up (killing Cloe, Lionel, anyone left involved with Veritas) and ending the series with Clark moving to Metropolis. In closing, I would like to thank Millar and Gough for bringing the series to the screen and giving us comic book geeks something to watch every week, especially in the dark days after Buffy ended.

Zemeckis and Dougherty Calling All ROBOTS - Mar 28, 2008 - 07:50am
It will be interesting to see how they do the motion capture for the robots (assuming there are some). As for a CG Godziilla-esque story, I'm in, as long as they have y CG Smog Monster-esque creature.

Wadlow Leading the TOMB - Mar 28, 2008 - 07:46am
They forget to mention the Rom-Com element of this movie, hence the Kenny Chesney and Drew Barrymore ads.

Pixar's Brad Bird Takes on 1906 Earthquake - Mar 13, 2008 - 08:30am
Sounds like a great plot to me and I'm in for anything Bird does. I just wish Pixar would stop giving Lasseter priority (yes, I know he's one of the founders) and let Bird do an Incredibles 2 before they pop out a second CARS or a 7th Toy Story.

Ludwig, Hinds Race to WITCH MOUNTAIN - Mar 05, 2008 - 03:23pm
C'mon "Escape to Space Mountain"!! **FINGERS CROSSED**

Two Actors Out of SMALLVILLE S8 - Mar 05, 2008 - 03:21pm
Agreed. I'm a huge fan of the show, but I would have absolutely no problem with the 7th season being the last. We've had some laughs, killed Bizarro, made Cloe a "meteor freak", so why not end the series on a higher note before they're resorted into bringing in Dr. Fate to extract "Alexander" once Rosenbaum leaves?

Hasbro's New Transformers for 2008 - Mar 04, 2008 - 07:25am
The new cartoon is the bastard child of the raping of the original being raped by the CN version of "Teen Titans". As for the die cast toys, my memories are of a G1 Optimus barely being able to hold himself in truck form after being played with "too much". Did anyone buy the 20th anniversary Optimus? I just couldn't shell out $80 for a Prime without a trailer.

DARK OZ Trilogy in the Works - Mar 03, 2008 - 08:05am
Sounds like they took the 1985 Disney flick "Return to Oz" and replaced Dorothy with the three twenty-year-olds. Don't get me wrong: I'm all in for a dark take on the Wizard of Oz as long as it's done well.

Toshiba Officially Drops HD DVD Format - Feb 19, 2008 - 10:02pm
All I'm going to say about the current state of digital distribution is that I paid $6 to watch Transformers on Comcast On-Demand HD and it pixelated the F out of the scenes the most worth watching (any of the action scenes). I know On-Demand isn't true/high-end digital distribution, but it definitely sucked eggs and didn't instill any confidence in me for the download of HD features to any set-top box.

Gambit is Cast, Dead Pool Update for WOLVERINE - Feb 19, 2008 - 09:50pm
Do not worry, mon ami: da Cajun is here :)

Audiences Hunt After FOOL'S GOLD - Feb 11, 2008 - 08:33am
snallygaster - I remember paying $1-$2 more for the "Meet the Robinsons 3-D" & "Nightmare Before Christmas 3-D" in the Seattle area. Nowhere near the price gouging they're doing for Ms. Cyrus.

Arnett Replaced by Val Kilmer for K.I.T.T - Feb 07, 2008 - 08:55am
I agree with bjjdenver: Bring back Mr. Feeney. I figure this thing won't make it past the mini-series/"pilot" phase, so why not give him the honor of reprising one of his roles that warmed our nerdy hearts. TURBO BOOST!

The 5 Most Unintentionally Hilarious Comic Strips - Feb 01, 2008 - 07:49am
I love me some Mark Trail, though the best strips are the ones where he's beating the hell out of some anti-environmentalist or getting yelled at by some senior citizen. Classic.

Paramount Confirms CLOVERFIELD 2 - Jan 31, 2008 - 07:31am
All they have to do for a successful sequel is follow the same formula they did for Blair Witch 2 (Book of Shadows): Get rid of the single camera POV and any sense of tension/interesting plot, deviating from everything that made the original so good/interesting.

Glimpse of Krauss for HELLBOY II - Jan 29, 2008 - 12:38pm
There's a solid shot of him up at the ol' Wikipedia as well. Just scroll to the bottom to view: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Krauss Looks like an underfed "Big Daddy" to me.

Del Toro Directing Both HOBBIT Films - Jan 28, 2008 - 07:54am
I say let Del Toro due the rumored two-part version of the last Potter film and get it out of the way before diving into Hobbit. I agree with the Cuaron comments in that his version was definitely different, but from what I've heard, he's been part of the driving force for cutting up the HP books to make the shortest movies possible.

Update: Ledger's Autopsy Is Inconclusive - Jan 22, 2008 - 02:27pm
I shall poor one out for my fallin' homie.

Megaton Directing TRANSPORTER 3 - Jan 18, 2008 - 07:28am
I think we all read what we wanted to read. Who better to direct the third Transformers movie then one of the bots themselves? I remember he directed a few of the later cartoon episodes and I always thought he was more comfortable behind the camera then in front of it.

WB Confirms JUSTICE LEAGUE On Hold - Jan 17, 2008 - 08:35am
Agreed. Better to kill this half-assed attempt then to go forward with something we'd all be ashamed of. To get your Justice League movie fix, animation style, check this out: Justice League: The New Frontier http://www.warnervideo.com/jlnewfrontier/

Top 6 Reasons 2008 Could be the Year of PS3 - Jan 15, 2008 - 07:18am
My Two Cents: The only way Nintendo is going to stay ahead of everyone else is if they ramp up the release of quality games. There's been way too many companies rushing out inferior games to take advantage of the hot Wii sales. I'm eagerly anticpating the release of the Wii editions of Smash Bros. & Mario Kart, but if Nintendo wants to keep their strangle hold they need to: A) Get some better 3rd party games on the market (and not just Wii ports of previously released games) B) End this hardware shortage (easier said then done, I know) C) More online games (don't need to dominate the interweb, but BWII is good times online)

Producer Talks G.I JOE and TRANSFORMERS 2 - Jan 09, 2008 - 07:22am
My only expectations for the G.I. Joe movie is it ending with a lesson about drugs or doing homework, followed by "And knowing is half the battle". GO JOE!! Also, if Joe is successful, please greenlight a M.A.S.K. movie. It's the next logical step in this '80s toy movie revolution.

The 10 Most Awesome Movies Hollywood Ever Killed - Jan 04, 2008 - 07:51am
Halo - Yes Unbreakable 2 - Would have been nice 4 years ago (Should have focused his energy on this instead of his last two piles) Super Mario Bros. 2 - I'm still waiting!!!

Bay Promises More Robots in TRANSFORMERS 2 - Jan 03, 2008 - 07:30am
I myself saw the flick 3 times in the theaters and agree that about 35% of the story/dialogue was complete garbage (really? robots sneaking around a house?), but the reason I kept going back because, like most of you have said, the action elements were so stellar it was worth tuning out all the Sector 7 garbage. For the sequel, we need: 1) Less human screen time 2) The REAL Devastator, not Michael Bay's random assignment of the name to a bot (Go Brawl!!) 3) Actually let Bumblebee talk 4) Megan Fox in a bikini 5) Somehow, bring in Gambit (suck it, Singer & Ratner!!) As for Soundwave, like others on here, I was a huge fan of him growing up, but seeing Frenzy in the movie really soured him for me for the big screen. If they could figure out a good way to do him (the proposed satellite idea), but don't half-ass it like they did with Frenzy.

HELLBOY 2 Trailer Hits Online Thursday - Dec 19, 2007 - 07:34am
I also enjoyed Pan's Labyrinth, but I would rewatch Hellboy before rewatching Pan's again. The message I got from that movie is for the love of crap, stay out of Spain!

Raphael Finds Love in Apatow's YEAR ONE - Dec 17, 2007 - 10:40am
If you want some decent intentional Bible humor, rent the 1993 mockumentary "...And God Spoke" Hilarious! As for Superbad, I agree with hanso: It shames American Pie on many different levels and is definitely good for a laugh.

New K.I.T.T Car Polished & Ready to Roll - Dec 13, 2007 - 03:30pm
I'm guessing this is the "transformed" KITT they kept mentioning in the early press, essentially confiming that this mini-series will be a hybrid of "Knight Rider" and the early 90's classic/GM commerical "Viper".

NBC Reveals Early 2008 Lineup - Dec 07, 2007 - 09:25am
Early 90s, late 80s, judging by the Sarah Connor Chronicles over on FOX. Yes, Gladiators was the definition of cheese/corny, but who didn't want to run the Gauntlet?

Gerard Butler & Natalie Portman in WOLVERINE? - Dec 07, 2007 - 09:21am
If you could find someone with Mane's stature that could carry on a conversation, we would be set. I'll third the vote for Butler as Kraven, if only because he doesn't have the height to pull off Sabertooth.

First PUNISHER:WAR ZONE Pic - Dec 06, 2007 - 05:28pm
My first thought was this was on old promo shot for Executive Decision, so I'm throwing in a Segal vote as well. I swear, if his hair is in a ponytail..... Am I the only one who thought Thomas Jane did a decent enough job in the first one?

Chung Finds Love in DRAGON BALL Z - Dec 06, 2007 - 10:22am
I see people being able to buy a double DVD of this movie and DoA next Christmas for $10 at Wal-Mart. That said, Jamie Chung is smokin' hot.

Marshall Talks INDY, JURASSIC, & BOURNE - Dec 06, 2007 - 10:15am
I, too, was under the impression that the only thing the Bourne movies had in common with the books was their titles, so that excuse doesn't fly. The excuse they should be using is that Bourne's story has been told and has nothing more to say. I thought the third one had some solid action, but the story was definitely stretching thin. I say let it rest with 3 flicks and not make a sequel for the sake of making a sequel. As for JP4, the more robotic arms, the better!

HELLBOY 2 Promotional Posters - Nov 30, 2007 - 09:52am
From all the public info I can find, Doug Jones is doing the voice, along with body work for Abe and 2 other characters.

GHOSTBUSTERS Sequel Hits Consoles Next Year - Nov 15, 2007 - 09:19am
Of all the proposals of ways to do a third Ghostbusters (travel to hell, training a new team, etc.), I think this definitely is the way to go. I say if the game sells well, why not turn it into a CGI movie? That, and I'm glad to see Ernie Hudson finally included in a cast listing!!

JOKER Site Updated for Halloween - Oct 31, 2007 - 11:34am
My sister went to the location in Pitt and didn't see jack squat, so you guys must be right about taking photos of the letters. Kind of lame, but way to market suspense.

Jessica Biel Ready to DIE A LITTLE - Oct 24, 2007 - 01:13pm
Image of Jessica Biel, Serious Actress: http://thebosh.com/upload/2007/08/20/Jessica%20Biel%20nude.jpg

Chucky Creator Adapts LIO Comic - Oct 24, 2007 - 01:09pm
I agree with snallgaster that this is easily one of best comics in the paper these days and that translating it to the big screen probably won't work, especially if it is live action. The whole "lack of dialogue" is what makes the comic so good and even a narrator would take a way from it. I say if anything, just make a bunch of animated shorts and slap them in front of random movies.

TRANSFORMERS - 2 Disc Special Edition - Oct 23, 2007 - 09:47am
**SPOILER ALERT** Fate of the Decepticons: Megatron - Destroyed by the All Spark Starscream - Flies off to space Bonecrusher - Obliterated by Optimus in the freeway fight Brawl - Shot to hell by troops/Autobots Blackout - Shot to hell by troops/Autobots Scorponok - Shot to hell by the U.S. Air Force Frenzy - Beheaded by himself The other ones just kind of disappear: Barricade - ???? Mt. Dew machine, XBOX, Cadillac Bots - ????

TYLER PERRY Shows Strength in Debut - Oct 15, 2007 - 10:02am
I'm going to agree with everyone and say that Perry has definitely done well for himself in putting out a product that people enjoy, but does anyone else find it incredibly egotistical to slap his name in the front of all his movies? Or is it more of a marketing thing for the casual movie goer that walks into a mulitplex and says "Oh, a Tyler Perry movie? One please!" Either way, it appears to be working!

Hardwicke Leading Vampires in TWILIGHT - Oct 03, 2007 - 02:51pm
From what I've heard about these books they: A) Are basically soft-core porn for teens B) Take place in a rain-soaked town on the coast of Washington State, thus no sunshine Could be good, but definitely no "30 Days"

Megan Fox Confirms Desire for HACK/SLASH - Sep 27, 2007 - 09:43am
I, too, put in my vote for Megan Fox as Wonder Woman because: A) As mentioned, she is one one of the hottest brunettes in Hollywood B) Can do some great stoned-faced, emotionless acting, which is actually Wonder Woman's character C) She's gorgeous!!

HALO 3 Hits $170 Million Mark on First Day - Sep 27, 2007 - 09:38am
First off, I want to say congrats to Bungie & Microsoft!! Second, I want to say I really don't like these cross industry comparisons, if only because the per unit sales don't match up. Sure, the game beat the first day sales of HP, but considering the book cost ranges from $20-$35 and the game cost ranges from $60-$130, it's a hell of a lot easier to make more money while still selling a similar amount of units. Don't get me wrong: I loves me some Halo, but the latest HP book sold 11 million copies on its 1st day in the US & UK. That be a lot!! However, if the $170 million gets the movie rolling again with Peter J. at the helm, I'm all in!!

WB Finds Heyman for PADDINGTON BEAR - Sep 14, 2007 - 09:53am
Paddington was a great kids book! I say bypass the CG bear and go the route of "A.I." and do an animatronic bear. I don't remember him doing gymnastics or any extreme movements, so I think it would work just fine and would definitely look more real. Plus, aren't all the CG artists busy right now with the upcoming "Alvin and the Chipmunks" exstravaganza?

Lionsgate Adds to HAUNTING Horror - Sep 14, 2007 - 09:43am
First: Virginia Madsen is slammin'!! Second: When I saw the headline, I thought it was a sequel to the abysmal 1999 flick "The Haunting" and threw up a little in my mouth Third: It sounds like a decent/creepy story and I agree with everyone that we do need a good ghost story nowadays that isn't reliant on piles of SFX and/or torture.

JOHN RAMBO Gets a Release Date - Sep 12, 2007 - 10:24am
Wait, so he guides the missionaries up the river, loses them, and then guides the rescue party back up the same river? Or does he guide them up, leave them, and then comes back with the rescue party? And when does he fight Apollo?

More Mutants in WOLVERINE? - Sep 11, 2007 - 09:12am
My vote is definitely for Alpha Flight, also, since it makes the most sense for the rumored setting. Then again, the last movie had Omega Kid as some kind of porcupine, so "sense" may not be a factor. The ideal situation for me would be the story starting off in the bayou, picking up Gambit, then heading off to do whatever. Or, running into Gambit at some seedy bar in French-Canada where's he's hustling foos at cards. Either way, GAMBIT, GAMBIT, GAMBIT!!

Kosinski Directing TRON Sequel - Sep 11, 2007 - 09:05am
Hey, I posted days ago about my idea for "ESCAPE TO SPACE MOUNTAIN" & "ESCAPE FROM SPACE MOUNTAIN". Where's my greenlight, Disney?! As for the ongoing sequel/remake argument, I'm putting my vote in for the "needs to stop" campaign. I like the idea of sequels if there is a good enough story to warrant it, but the remakes we don't not need. Yes, the new "3:10 to Yuma" is a solid movie, but I think an original Western storyline would have been just as good with the exact same team. Why the need for a remake? And don't get me started on the rumors for an "Enter The Dragon" remake...

The Rock Enters WITCH MOUNTAIN Sequel - Aug 29, 2007 - 08:14am
Not to nitpick, but wasn't the movie called "Escape TO Witch Mountain"? Either way, I'm good: no "sequel" needed. If you want The Rock in a Disney movie about a magical mountain, I say cast him as Lt. Dash Lightning in the summer blockbuster "SPACE MOUNTAIN", followed by the sequel "ESCAPE FROM SPACE MOUNTAIN". Disney, I await my check.

Stephen Sommers Back on G.I JOE - Aug 24, 2007 - 07:39am
I say that if G.I. Joe (with Van Damme as Conrad S. Hauser, aka "Duke") is successful, DIC Enterprises steps it up and puts out their long overdue "M.A.S.K." movie. Soldiers driving transforming vehicles is just the next logical step in this cinema evolution.

Warner Bros Options Darker WIZARD OF OZ Revision - Aug 22, 2007 - 08:14am
Speaking of Alice, wasn't American McGee working on a game that was supposed to be a darker version of Oz (a la this movie)?

Livingston Says 'Yes' to TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE - Aug 22, 2007 - 08:10am
Zing! And true!

Abe Finds Love in HELLBOY 2 - Aug 15, 2007 - 07:20am
Does anybody know if David Hyde Pierce is returning as the speaking voice of Abe? I know Doug Jones has been doing the voice in the past two animated movies, so I was curious if they're going to bring Pierce back in or not.

Warner Bros Takes on DRAGON Remake - Aug 10, 2007 - 07:43am
I haven't seen "Enter" yet and even I know it shouldn't be remade. When you have a pivotal piece of cinema like this with a star like Bruce (whose soft-toed shoes could never be filled), why the F would you remake it? They should just do like all the other recent remakes and rape the heck out of the original story so that no elements are recognizable. Then give it a completely different name with the word "dragon" nowhere in the title.

WOMEN OF THE DC UNIVERSE: STARFIRE Bust - Aug 08, 2007 - 07:14am
The official dictionary definition says a bust is "a sculpture of somebody's head and shoulders". I says she be hot!!

Pictures of the IRON MAN Mark 1 Suit - Jul 31, 2007 - 12:12pm
Me likey. Good amount of humor and action and the F/X look solid. I'm glad to see they didn't try to modify the helmet to show Tony's "human features", a la Mr. No-Hidden-Faces Raimi.

PIRATES Hits Dvd Shelves Dec 4 - Jul 27, 2007 - 11:12am
I agree with Cappy: A straight, action-packed, non-monster Pirates movie would have been sweet. I liken the Pirates trilogy to that of the Matrix trilogy: the first movie got us intrigued and wanting more, while the 2 follow-ups made us reminisce about the engaging experience we had with the first one.

Disney Bans SMOKING From Movies - Jul 26, 2007 - 10:49am
So is this going to apply to Disney's other production companies like Touchstone & MGM? Somehow I doubt that shit will fly. We all know the rating system needs a serious overhaul anyways, so this is just more fuel for the fire. I was rewatching the classic "AIRPLANE!" the other day and saw the PG rating it got in 1980 and thought "Man, this would be NC-17 nowadays". I mean, it's got smoking and boobies!!

Polley & Leto Like MR. NOBODY - Jul 17, 2007 - 08:15am
Brussels is the new Prague!

Japan's EVAN Release Canceled - Jul 16, 2007 - 11:16pm
Carrell was committed to this way before he got famous with "The Office" and "40-Year-Old Virgin". I think he saw it as a direct-to-video flick that might get him some screen time. Unfortunately, Universal saw his piles of success over the past 2 years and green lit a huge budget that no comedy could hope to make up.

BOND Not Returning to Prague - Jul 16, 2007 - 11:13pm
Sounds like Prague is falling out of favor in the ol' Hollywood scene, just as Seattle did in the late '90s. See you in hell, Vancouver!! Then again, where's cheaper then Prague?

SIMPSONS Homeward Bound to Vermont - Jul 11, 2007 - 08:45am
Here's the address for all the submitted Springfield videos: http://www.usatoday.com/life/movies/simpsons-contest.htm Being a Pacific Northwestener, I was hoping Springfield, OR, was going to win. Oh well, at least we got a Kwik-E-Mart!!
