Cage Heading To Prison in SCARED STRAIGHT - Aug 02, 2008 - 10:31am
I do not think that Carpenter has faltered once! I am a huge fan and I am not quite sure why Ghosts of Mars and Vampires get hated on so much....?... Hell, every director from 70's and 80's had somewhat altered how they direct films and which ones they take; look at Croenenberg! If you guys want to talk about a director who has jumped off the track, look at Romero!
I do not need a trailer for any of his films, I will be there!
DVD Shopping Bag: DVD Maniac Worthy? Almost - Jul 29, 2008 - 01:07am
It seems Doomsday is a movie you either like or dislike and for me the movie was fucking awesome! I rented it, liked it and then bought it the same day! The movie was like putting Road Warrior and Escape from N.Y. in one movie but hey!, I like it!!
Good, good movie!
couldnt Spielberg and/or Lucas think up a better escape from an Atomic bomb than a lead lined refrigerator? They've had almost 20 years to dream up some really good escapes.. this was NOT one of them.
i could think of a proposed semi-logical solution:
Indy, realizing he's trapped inside DOOM-TOWN, the Nevada testing area, remembers (shown in flashback) what the guards at the gate said about not being able to let them in... suddenly he realizes he's gonna get nuked...the towns air raid sirens go off... stumbling around he either finds an airplane and escapes... or finds an abandon mine shaft that takes him under the explosion and escapes using the test rocket booster under the city that goes back to Area 51... plausible? no. Keeping within the confines of the Jones mythology of last minute ditch escapes that come from no-where... sure... I'll buy that faster than a lead lined refrigerator getting thrown clear of the blast. (thrown clear is also an oxi-moron since he'd have to have been thrown at least 50+ miles in that refrigerator unit to escape the blast... and didn't break a bone in the process of crash landing either)
