Mania Review: Noah (Article) - 4/4/2014 10:41:49 AM

Logic, I see why you chose that name, lol. You present a logical case. I guess it comes down to - again - whether you believe the Bible is accurate or not. And if you don't, then do you respect the people who do believe it's true enough to understand their position. Which it sounds like you do. I wish everyone on here was as measured and civil as you. Cheers.

Nice interview, Rob! Love your end line. Well done.

Logic, sorry I totally mangled that first paragraph pertaining to you, hopefully you can understand what I was trying to say. Your closing question seems to be in conflict with your agreeing that history/Religious movies should be handles more carefully. :)

Mania Review: Noah (Article) - 4/3/2014 8:33:55 PM

Logic - You clos by asking why should the Bible be any different? Because for many it falls under the history/religion category - which you agreed to in your opening should be off limits - or at least handled much more carefully.

Monkeyfoot - I hear you on the other Bible stories - I think we all know some liberties are going to be taken  - it's more a realistic continuim than a 'don't change anything.' I would argue overlooking a stutter is not equal to not even mentioning the word God in the whole movie. Which has been now confirmed by many sources.

As for the dialogue that a movie like this creates - I can't argue with you on that. It's true, it is happening. But I think creating misinformation so that people will talk about it is just, ultimately, not a healthy thing to do. Heck, people disagree about it when they are reading from the same dang page! LOL

Anywho, for me, I don't want to give the makers of this movie my money - I want it to fail so Hollywood takes from this that Bible movies - Or Buddah, or whatever - are different than regular source material films. Peace Maniacs.

Mania Review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Article) - 4/3/2014 8:24:33 PM

Just got back from the 8 pm showing myself and was blown away. Just amazing how theymade the most out of ALL the characters in this movie. I still don't know how they did it. And Falcon? best. Sidekick. Ever. Wow. Black Widow kicked butt, as well as Fury. Fight scenes were creative and intense. Great plot. Just really blew my mind, guys.

Mania Review: Noah (Article) - 4/3/2014 12:38:12 PM

Okay, what we have here is a basic disagreement about one major thing - which has unfortunately sprouted a ton of superflous tentacles about Christians being haters and Athiests being animals. The question really is:

Is the Bible fair game to be loosely interpreted for a movie like any other source material?

Personally, I say no. It's one thing to change things/combine characters for Iron Man, and quite another when it involves a book that millions base their religious beliefs on. If you disagree, and you are certainly free to do so, then you are equating a simple comic book character with God. Now, it's all well and good to do that, if you wish. But why act surprised and angered when believers cry foul? Or refuse to see it? Why does that anger you so much? No one is judegning you. We are judging the interpretation of a hollywood director.

You ask, 'What harm could come of it?' Well, someone said it earlier: People today BELIEVE movies like this. Want proof? Just ask anyone what they believed happened with the JFK assasination and they will most likely play back some version of the Oliver Stone movie. A movie that made some huge leaps with the facts and connected dots that have never actually been proven. Entertainment needs to be clearly sepatated from history/religion or we are traveling down a very confusing, foggy path.

If a movie is going to be called Noah, then it should adhere to what is written about... wait for it... Noah. Otherwise, call it something else - name the character differently. Don't pervert what was written that so many people call truth. If you're an Athiest, respect that. Maybe then, you will get the respect you feel you deserve.

X-Men: Days of Future Past Behind the Scenes (Article) - 4/3/2014 11:59:44 AM

I liked the last X-Men flick a lot. I hope this one echos that one more than Singer's last few flicks in this franchise. Diff director, I know. But really hoping the influence is there.

Mania Review: Captain America: The Winter Soldier (Article) - 4/3/2014 11:52:40 AM

As for Cap, going to see the first showing tonight at 8:00 pm. Very psyched.

The way I see it - ANY superhero flick that does well is a plus for Maniacs. It means more will be made. We should all do well to remember that.

@ BlankCzech

Gee, I wonder if the fact your avatar is Superman has something to do with it? Sour grapes because DC has for the most part sucked movie-wise is just sad. Although, I for one, enjoyed the last Supes movie and the Nolan Batman series.

At any rate, get off Rob's back. He's a great reviewer and if he uses words you can't understand, just look Google them.
