About Me:
I came from a time when you had to stay up late at night on Fridays, or Saturdays to catch the local monster movie host. Our local host was Count Gregor. I relished the old b/w Universal monster movies and I remember when it was all the rage to get your 3D glasses at 7-11 so you could watch The Creature from the Black Lagoon in really, really bad 3D. I hope it has improved, I am the last man standing who hasn't seen Avatar, or any of the new 3D movies (UPDATE: Saw Avatar without the benefit of 3D. Have seen many 3D movies. Mixed bag.) Anyway, many a night was spent waking up from nightmares of King Kong spying through my window, or just the thought of the transformation of the Wolfman. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein was a favorite. And, of course, the first time you got to see the Wolfman and Frankenstein in a showdown was a thrill. I also devoured all the scifi movies and TV shows of the time. Not to mention the truly scarey old time radio programs (they replayed them on an AM station). And, I was an avid comic book reader. So, that was my foundation into the world of geekdom. Funny thing, all of the movies mentioned are still great nastolgic films for me. I would set through a marathon if I could. Now, I love a lot of genre TV. I miss the X-Files (and the last movie just made me sad) and I'm disapointed to see both Lost and 24 come to a close. I have no idea what I will replace my TV addictions with when they are all gone. Oh well, a good Mel Brooks or a Monty Python/Terry Gilliam film will always cheer me right up. "Always look on the bright side of life..."
UPDATE: The Walking Dead, American Horror Story, True Blood, Dexter and Archer seem to fill a void.
Favorite Manga, Book, or Graphic Novel:
Graphic Novel: The Sandman series.
