About Me:
I came from a time when you had to stay up late at night on Fridays, or Saturdays to catch the local monster movie host. Our local host was Count Gregor. I relished the old b/w Universal monster movies and I remember when it was all the rage to get your 3D glasses at 7-11 so you could watch The Creature from the Black Lagoon in really, really bad 3D. I hope it has improved, I am the last man standing who hasn't seen Avatar, or any of the new 3D movies (UPDATE: Saw Avatar without the benefit of 3D. Have seen many 3D movies. Mixed bag.) Anyway, many a night was spent waking up from nightmares of King Kong spying through my window, or just the thought of the transformation of the Wolfman. Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein was a favorite. And, of course, the first time you got to see the Wolfman and Frankenstein in a showdown was a thrill. I also devoured all the scifi movies and TV shows of the time. Not to mention the truly scarey old time radio programs (they replayed them on an AM station). And, I was an avid comic book reader. So, that was my foundation into the world of geekdom. Funny thing, all of the movies mentioned are still great nastolgic films for me. I would set through a marathon if I could. Now, I love a lot of genre TV. I miss the X-Files (and the last movie just made me sad) and I'm disapointed to see both Lost and 24 come to a close. I have no idea what I will replace my TV addictions with when they are all gone. Oh well, a good Mel Brooks or a Monty Python/Terry Gilliam film will always cheer me right up.  Welcome to Mania.  I'll approve your friend request just as soon as I know you're not a spammer or something!  (FYI, that's going to take more than a day.)  :)

Later!  Hope to see ya on the boards.

No problemo dude.  I just thought it a bit odd that I had a friend request the first day you created your profile.  That had "spammer" written all over it, but am glad that is not the case with you.  From one previous "lurker" to another, welcome to the show.

By the way, have you noticed how many profiles are being created by spammers lately?  I just don't see how people can think that will generate any business whatsoever.  Though, I guess if there purpose is for me to look at their profiles and then boycott any and everything they are hocking, well, maybe they are onto something.

And finally, my apologies for being locked in as the first 2 comments on your profile page.  We are now linked together from now till the end of time... or at least Mania.com.  :)

Peace, bro!

By the way, you've probably seen "Avatar", it's just they did it with no CGI and actual Bufflo - "Dances With Wolves"...I said from the beginning that the previews looked like "Dances With Wolves" in space, and after seeing it, that impression didn't go away...you know how super fans on this defended the movie?

"hey man, it's not "Dances With Wolves" in space...they're only in space at the very beginning for like 2 minutes...the rest of the time they're on the planet"

Not kidding...so remember, it's not "Dances With Wolves in Space", it's "Dances With Wolves on an Alien Planet".

Thanks for the kind words about my work and my handling of easily flammable comment box situations.

Some people do try to bait you into flame wars, and I can't say I've never bitten, but it is a fool's game. Anyway, glad we can agree on some things and agree to disagree on others.

Just had a crazy idea. you should start all your post with your new catch prase "Let's be honest...", like Dennis Miller's "I don't mean to go off on a rant, but..."

I grew up with Sammy Terry, out Indianapolis, IN.  I was 10.  Late night horror movies, campy, classics and a good time with my dad and uncles.  Priceless.

RedHood:  Always fun to find a fellow friend in cyber who shared childhood memories of late night horor movies.  I'd like to see them resurrected.  Host and all.
