First Trailer for Anderson's DEATH RACE - Jun 21, 2008 - 02:08am
No Hitting pedestrians? BUT Statham is cool, Joan Allen is great in everything she does, the cars look cool even if the don't have the "personality" of the cars in the original. I'll definitely see it but can it be as fun as the original? Prepare for the worst and hope for the best.
Exclusive: Getting What You WANTED - Jun 20, 2008 - 10:01pm
I agree raulendymion, this summer has just been unbelievable and we haven't even hit July yet! I was so caught off guard by "Wanted". I have to say that I really wasn't expecting alot but it's a total blast. Now just gimme gimme gimme Dark Knight!
Where Have All The Faces Gone? - May 29, 2008 - 10:25pm
Couldn't agree more. Thanks for writing about it. Imagine the disaster movie craze of the '70s transposed to today: Earthquake - No Heston, Ava Gardner or George Kennedy!!!!
Towering Inferno - No Paul Newman, Steve McQueen, or William Holden!!! Not that these are the greatest examples, I think your Jaws example is really where it's at. None of those actors in Jaws would fly today. It's a damn shame.
Top 6 Reasons 2008 Could be the Year of PS3 - Jan 15, 2008 - 09:39am
I was an extremely happy 360 owner for six weeks. I still can’t wait till Best Buy gets in a new shipment of ‘em so can have one again. I don't believe in fanboy-ism. I'm just into keeping an open mind calling out the best system from the facts that are out there as I see them. In fact
Yeah, I’m pissed as hell that Microsoft hasn’t gotten its shit together with its hardware. And you know what? You should be too. Whether or not you have an Xbox companies need to learn this is crap is unacceptable on every level. I will be honest with you all and say if I were the consumer I should be I would use my Best Buy credit for a PS3.
The fact is that I’m already invested into the 360 with games, accessories, about a dozen Xbox Live Arcade games, and a year long gold subscription to XBLive and I just don’t have the money to switch. Sure I could sell the accessories and games on e-bay but I wouldn’t get what I paid for them and I’m still out my XBLA games and my XBLA subscription AND I honestly and truly do love what the 360 does right. I also personally love the exclusives that it does have. Bioshock is, in my opinion, one of the very best video games ever made. I also am REALLY looking forward to Ninja Gaiden 2 and Fable 2.
But aside from my personal tastes take a look at the following:
*The following are just SOME of the games being released in multi-format in 2008 (Thanks EGM):
Fallout 3
Grand Theft Auto IV
Tomb Raider: Underworld
Star Wars: The Force Unleashed
Turok
Left 4 Dead
Silent Hill 5
Alone in the Dark
Dead Space
Saboteur
Golden Axe
Army of Two
Brutal Legend
Tom Clancy's EndWar
Ghostbusters
Prototype
Mirrors Edge
All those games are coming out on BOTH systems. That's a pretty compelling list.
*And Microsoft STILL hasn't figured out its hardware issues!
*Even if Blu-Ray becomes irrelevant as a movie medium its super high storage capacity makes it a stronger media for console gaming than standard DVD.
*Yes, there are complaints about developing for PS3. That could be a huge stumbling block but the list isn't called 6 reasons why PS3 might stumble this year".
*Shogunpimp: Mr. Mattrick didn’t even talk about ONE new exclusive. He just said they have a bunch of exclusives and it will be another year like 2007. It sounded to me that Mr. Mattrick feels a little too overconfident about the lead that the 360 has over the PS3. Yeah, we’re only two weeks into the new year but PS3’s slate looks a bit sexier than the 360s. My point was, and still is: With all the great games coming out on both platforms are Microsoft’s exclusive titles going to be enough to sway people to buy the system when they can get a lot more for a lot less with the PS3.
As I stated in the article, someone would have to shell out over $700.00 to get the hardware that PS3 gives you for $399.00
*And Microsoft STILL hasn't figured out its hardware issues! TWO YEARS LATER!
*As far as movie formats go: I agree with you that stated that soon all movies will be “on demand”. I too think the Hi Def format wars are pointless. They WILL though determine how console games will be delivered , and what we’ll be using as storage media and the like.
* Merin: I agree with that it's too early to call. Who knows what surprise announcements lurk around the corners? Both sides have to be very careful in their strategies but as we moved into the new year I really didn't hear anything from MS that impressed me, in fact, just the opposite.
But like I said earlier, it's a fun show to watch. In fact I want a reality show based on Sony’s and Microsoft’s console divisions! How great would that be? “Darlene, (My illiterate secretary) get me Mark Burnett on the phone…NOW!”)
*EagleManiac: I used to feel the way that you did, that PC gaming was without a doubt the way to go. UNTIL - I came home with Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 and I couldn’t even install it on my new Dell desktop. I called up tech support for the game and was told in no uncertain terms that I was out of luck. I’ve never bought another PC game again.

Thanks for all the feedback, sorry some didn't agree with my list, but the list was done for the fun of it and this was simply my opinion. Personally, I think any list that can’t be quantified should be perceived as someone’s opinion. I also need to point out that I didn't steal anything from anyone nor have I ever even seen the blogs mentioned or any of the blogs on the Mania site for that matter. Sure, other films could have been included. That's pretty much always the case with any best or worst list. To me the most important thing is that people chimed in with their thoughts and opinions which I always enjoy hearing whether they reflect my own or not.

Bdd, I'm so grateful that I fell asleep during EH because like gauleyboy states It's an hour of my life that I didn't waste while watching that movie. And Alien 4 could easily be called awful BUT it could not match the enormous disappointment associated with A3. You gotta remember that this is the movie that followed A2 which was a fantastic commercial and critical success. That giant buildup and huge disappointment is what put A3 on this list. Also remember that A3 was a franchise killer. A4 just failed to "resurrect" a franchise that was already dead.
LoneReconEagle: It is stated in BR:DC that Deckard is a replicant. At the end of the film Gaff (Edward James Olmos) Leaves a origami of a unicorn. The unircorn that Deckard dreams about while at the piano. This goes beyond implication in saying that even Deckard's dreams were implanted and on file. Also Ridley Scott himself has gone on the record stating that Deckard IS a replicant. I agree with you LoneRecon, leave it ambiguous at least!
Thanks for the spelling correction macgawd. I should have caught that one!
