The Walking Dead: A Review (Article) - 4/3/2014 7:18:08 AM

Another thing.... isn't that Daryl's poncho that Terminus girl was wearing? Since she didn't get it from Daryl, where did she get it from? Beth?

redhairs99, man that Smallville show was terrible. I tried to sit back and enjoy it, but it hurt me. I did enjoy the comment box on that show waaaaaaaaay more than the show itself.

fatpantz, nice to hear from you. I have no doubt Hanso is more than capable of picking up the mantle.

rogue188, I'm sure Mania already has someone lined up for Game of Thrones, and to be honest, I'm looking forward to watching this show, and have no desire to review it. I put in a ton of work on those reviews. Though to be honest again, I do miss the forum. It was fun, but very time-consuming. That said, I'm sure I'll pop in to check out the weekly revews.

I have a couple other ideas that I haven't seen explored here, and I stopped reading the comc book during Season 2 just to keep everything absolutely fresh.

I'm thinking since it was very clear while the ringleader, the archer, the samuari and the kid were darting through the maze of bullet fire that no one was aiming for a kill shot. Why? Because either the Termites need slave labor, or more grotesque, they are eating these captives, but can't kill them, because the meat would turn before they were cooked. Not sure of the rules, so if you're shot in the head as a human, I'd imagine you don't turn to a Walker, but it the meat might still be spoiled - UNLESS you cook the person alive - possibly heavily sedated.

I agree with a reader (whose name escapes me) that there was a religious aspect to the room with the names on the ground. Very human sacrificey. I believe I saw old bulet holes on those walls too, so this gauntlet has been run by a number of captives.

A hearty Lost Fan Fist Pump back at ya, Jarrod. I'll try to pop in more often.

Hanso my good man; how's life treating you, sir? Good to see your name on this article. Nice work. I haven't been on these Mania pages in a while. Been pretty busy with full-time giging again. Great to see some other familiar names and avatars.

I just now watched the episode, and to be honest assumed last week that BBQ had a little Soylent Green odor coming from it. Now after seeing what seemed to be human skeletal remains, I'm less confident in that decision - or at least, less hoping to be right - but it most likely still is. Most of me wants to believe they are settig us up to belive this is a human farming/slaughter station, and then there will be some WTF switcheroo, but it seems pretty clear it is what it looks like it is.

I agree with your point  in the comment boxes that you'd love to have seen Tyrese and Carol, and also agree that they'll probaby play a part in the ultimate escape. I say that, but Rick's confident claim that they're "screwing with the wrong people" makes me hope the pay-off is mostly of Rick's design, and he isn't rescued by a cavalry of two.

Anyway, the show closes out with two strong episodes, and just in time for a new season of Game of Thrones. Checked out some behind the scenes stuff on HBO last night, and this season looks a lot more dynamic than the last one. Bad thing is I really need a refresher. I honestly forgot all about the Red Wedding.

All that said, again, nice "seeing" everyone again. Hope everyone is well. - Joe

Great episode, and excellent review.

My guess is Lori really knows already, and just didn't want to say anything.

Hey there Hanso! Love ya, buddy.

You too Millean, and anyone else who mentioned me in my absence.

No doubt Tim has done a fine job. I'm kind of jealous, because I love being in the middle of these discussions and I came late to the party late on this one.

I'll just reinterate what I said earlier and what I've read from more than a few people, but Lori's reaction was completely out of left field. She had been saying she had Rick's back. Promising Rick, no matter what, the baby was his. Until that last episode it seemed since Rick was back, Shane made her skin crawl, and she only softened on that in the finale when she tried to have a heart-to-heart with him when he was repairing that weather vein or whatever it was.

There's no doubt the baby is Shane's and maybe that will be reveale next season. The only reason I can tolerate her now is I'm hoping her (hopefully eventual and soon) demise amps Rick's paranoia and dark side up even higher.

Walking Dead: Beside the Dying Fire Review (Article) - 3/20/2012 10:13:53 AM

Hey guys, just wanted to check in with my 2 cents. I was on a plane the last two Sundays so couldn't watch or review either show. Just got around to watching both episodes last night.

Personally I enjoyed watching without the obligation to criticize and review, so the experience was different for me, and I enjoyed that freedom. Not to say I wasn't checking it out with a critical eye, but it's nice to watch leisurley, and not rewind while taking notes.

Loved Michonne at the end. I do agree with some of Tim's comments. I wasn't sure how a random helicopter, followed by other random nosies led an army of undead to Hershell's farm. I'd have bought the power of smell, but the sound thing was fairly random.

Very interested in watching Rick's character get darker. Lori is an unsympathetic character, and not very realistic much of the time. Not of fan of that character. She just doesn't ring true as an actual human being.

I'll check out all the comments when I geta chance, but I did enjoy the episode, and look forward to next season.
