I agree with countzenit. At first there was some speculation that this movie would be like Godzilla, with one big monster and several smaller ones, mostly because of that scene, but looking at it paused and in hi-res really looks more like men in hazard suits dragging someone around to me too. And if I had to make a wild guess, I’d say this movie will be more like Blair Witch: Lots of tension and scares more from the sounds and glimpses than from clear explicit monster action, which is a very cool notion, btw. Looking forward to this.

I saw the episode and I remember that – like most of the episodes of the old series – the twist in the end was very cool. I won’t spoil it for anyone, but it gives you something to think about. It is a great short story but I don’t know how well it would translate to a full movie. I’m a huge fan of the old B&W show and always appreciated the way the stories where much more surreal and chilling than explicit and gory, mostly dealing with some aspect of the human nature (vanity, loneliness, greed, etc.) that made it all the more creepy for being something we could relate to. I hope the movie keeps this approach.

I’ve always liked original and entertaining ways to catch the audience attention to any product, but I can’t help but think that this sort of thing could easily backfire if not done properly. This flick is a big mystery, down to the movie title. We don’t know what to expect (at least not with absolute certainty) and so far this viral campaign hasn’t filled too many blanks. And I agree with Wiseguy that it’s been dragged out and starting to loose its appeal. Unless they come up with something more interesting closer to the date, 1-18-08 may be a bit too far away for this to keep working. I know that the whole idea IS to make people speculate so they talk about this movie and make them curious, but if the hype is build too high and the flick doesn’t deliver it, it could do it more harm that good. We all have seen more than one nice and rather entertaining movie get trashed in the box office and reviews because people came to expect too much of it. Or, in short: Snakes on a Plane.
