First Look: CONAN Set Photos (Article) - 5/10/2010 2:09:36 PM

Why do you think Conan is set in Mesopotamia?  Howard suprimposed his world over a map of Europe, Asia and North Africa.  Conan orginates in the far north in Cimmeria but his stories range all over the world.  He is eventually King of Aquilonia (Western Europe) but is also a reaver off the coast of Stygia (africa) an Afghuli chieftain (Central Asia) etc.  If the images are of his home village, think Germanic culture, not Mesopotamian.

I agree. Thor and the Asgard are Gods.  To change that cheapens the charactr and the setting.

15 Cancelled TV Shows That Were Ahead of Their Time (Article) - 1/14/2010 1:46:05 PM

I have to support Twin Peaks too.   Also, what about Seaquest?  It either went one season too long or it needed another to fix what they screwedup.  Either way, I can't recall any other nautical themed genre show since.

Dollhouse: The Attic Review (Article) - 12/22/2009 10:28:43 AM

If you stopped watching television on Friday nights, why are you so insistent that this show be killed?  How about showing a little consideration for the people (I am not one of them)  who do like the show?  Especially if it doesn't interfere with your life in any way.

Dexter: The Getaway Review (Article) - 12/15/2009 1:42:39 PM

I think only Quinn  will suspect Dexter.  Time of death willput the murder around the time Dexter was acting in his official capacity at Arthur's house where Deb and everyone saw him.  The only question will be why did it take him so long to disover the body and his answers will be suspicious to Deb, who will dig deeper.

As for why Arthur chose Rita, they will discover Arthur visited the police headquarters and saw the Trinity investigation files.  He chose Rita because she was the wife of a member of the team looking for him and because she fit his patern.  I believe everyone else at the headquarters will be sympathetic to Dexter and feel lucky it wasn't them Trinity targeted but Quinn won't let it go due to his issues with Dexter.  Deb will start seeing Quinn and her slowly discovering Dexter's secret and having to choose wher her loyalties lie will be a major plot point.

I don't see what grounds the grandparents would have to seek custody of the kids rather than Dexter keeping them.  I think they would want to stay with him and even without Rita, Dexter still has that family bond to them.  I think the addedcomplication in Dexter's life is what the writers want.  Dexter going back to a serial killer bachelor living in an apartment oversimplifies his life again and we have already seen that version of Dexter.

Of course, this is all just my opinion and speculation.

LOTR Trilogy Blu-ray Set (Article) - 12/15/2009 10:50:49 AM

This reeks of Peter Jackson, or more likely the studio, pulling a George Lucas and milking every last cent out of a loyal fan base.  Don't tease me with a Blueray LOTR trilogy until you match or improve on the content I already own on the extended version DVDs.

McG Wants More TERMINATOR (Article) - 12/7/2009 10:44:14 AM

It was a decent sci-fi action flick but it lacked the character driven plot of the first two or a story that made sense.  My problem was with the writing.  There were just too many huge leaps of logic we had to accept.  Blair siding with Marcus, essentially turning her back on her species, without even considering he was using her to infiltrate the human base?  John Conner spent his entire life being told he is humanity's only hope, decides to go on a one-man suicide mission against SkyNet?  Every previous part of the mythology indicates people are living underground and in hiding, basically fighting a guerilla war.  This film indicates there are battle lines and there is still an organized military with bases large enough to maintain and launch hardware like A-10's and nuclear submarines.  It doesn't fit with the story we already know.

7 Rules for Making THE HOBBIT Movie (Article) - 11/19/2009 11:42:18 AM

I believe the dwarves were armed before they set out.  Their original plan had them following the main trade route through the misty mountains and across the woods but they detoured into the wilds to stop at Rivendale and they lost the path in the woods.  Also, Gandalf mentioned that the previously safer wilds were becoming more dangerous and more sinister.  We later learn due to the remergence of Sauron in disguise as the necromancer in the south of the woods.  Finally, they had an f-ing wizard with them!  Gandalf in one of only five known wizards in all of Middle Earth.  Do you really think Thorin and company were calling the shots and making the plans?  They most likely just assumed Gandalf was in charge and would steer them right.

First PERSIA Trailer Online (Article) - 11/2/2009 5:37:47 PM

Why does everyone in Persia have English accents?

Dexter: Remains to Be Seen Review (Article) - 10/5/2009 5:42:07 PM

It seems kind of obvious to me but the Lundy character gets special treatment by pretty much everyone because he isn't any Joe Schmo off the street. He is a former FBI superstar who is gracing the Miami precinct with his presence.  The fact that he is retired doesn't mean that an overworked and newly promoted detective won't use his knowledge and experience as much as possible to help clear her cases.

Reeves Cast the RIGHT ONES (Article) - 10/3/2009 4:22:18 PM

I agree.  The original Swedish worked well because of the setting.  Americanizing it will cause it to lose something that was unique to the story.
