Sony Targets Assassin's Creed (Article) - 10/21/2011 10:12:27 PM

Yeah Tiredjay actually understated things. The franchise evolved, moving the "Past" section of the narrative from the Crusades to Rennaisance Italy, and the "millenia-long" conflict does indeed stretch back to Adam/Eve, who weren't actually quite human, but hybrids of their "Race who came before" overseers, and perhaps the first prototypical Assassins.

I'd disagree with Stormrider though. It's the Quantum Leap/Matrix elements of the story that elevate this beyond a standard period piece or even Price of Persia. I'd do a fairly literal translation of the first game to start, although perhaps breaking it into multiple parts.

The overall storyline though is very Lucas-esque in it's execution, and by that I mean original trilogy Lucas. As it evolved it became even deeper and richer in scope.

Cosplay Babes and Hotties at SDCC 2011 (Article) - 7/24/2011 9:51:09 AM

Unknown cosplay girl is no doubt Bayonetta from the video game of the same name.

The correct spellings are Boushh and Silk Spectre.

DVD Shopping Bag: Superman: The Motion Picture Anthology Blu-ray (Article) - 6/7/2011 11:51:16 AM

They should have thrown in a Blu-Ray release of Supergirl as well for completeness-sake. (The longer International release of course)

WOLVERINE Director Search Continues (Article) - 5/27/2011 9:46:19 PM

@Stonedtodeath, sorry man but I can't get into the stuff you're smokin'

Shouldn't shoot in Japan? Forget all the revisionist 90s stuff, Logan's Japan adventures, especially the uber stuff by Frank Miller is what has defined the character in more ways than anyone except maybe John Byrne.

The whole point of Wolverine is that he is a would-be modern Samurai fighting against the baser demons of his nature, and the mayhem that ensues when he fails his internal battle. He may be a killer, but there is an extreme code of honour behind that raging beast.

The 5 Best Smallville Episodes Ever (Article) - 5/13/2011 9:03:37 PM

DaForce, the only mention I caught of Lana by Toyman was his description of how she sacrificed herself for him. I don't tihnk he said the Leigon of Doom did it.

I took it to be a somewhat poetic description of Lana's fate that we knew of, namely that she sacrified her and Clark's relationship to keep him safe by absorbing the kryptonite radiation in the bomb. Not that she actually died.

Good ep overall tongiht, but Darkseid was beaten far too easily, and no really good look at Clark in the full suit. So in the end the big bad villain for the season was another Doomsday and we get hosed for the real payoff with Clark yet again.

Smallville: Prophecy Review (Article) - 5/11/2011 9:13:33 AM

A pretty bang on review, and it's a real shame.

For this to be Kara's finale was truly unfortunate. OK, I can perhaps buy that her super brain can calculate the arrow's trajectory, and her super reflexes allow her to be an expert marksman, but then it goes south in a hurry.

Jor-El forces her to choose between leaving and staying, where staying risks the world's survival. OK that single point I can even buy into, but she has to go without saying goodbye? Like Clark isn't going to wonder what happened to his only living relative?

And to cap it off, they STILL have her in the prototype Supergirl outfit. You'd have thought since she is the more capable El power-wise at the moment, and he's sending her to the 31st century, that Jor-El could have at least ginned up a proper costume to match the one Clark has on ice.

Drag Helen's old suit out of mothballs, hell, get someone to do a replica to fit Laura (eBay has vendors who could do this for less than $500 US). The ultimate payoff for Kara's character in the series, and it fell flat as a pancake.

Mania Review: Your Highness (Article) - 4/8/2011 8:58:22 AM

OK, we should like it because Kevin from AOTS liked it?

Even if I didn't have my doubts about this movie, that sealed it for me.

Kevin from AOTS is a tool, a d-bag, and an idiot. A brainless twit who turned a good show like The Screen Savers into the most sophomoric pile of drivel ever to hit the airwaves, namely Attack of the Show. If it wasn't for the female hosts on the show it'd be completely unwatchable.

I like Portman, and don't mind Franco, but seriously guys, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!

X-Men: First Class' Hellfire Club (Article) - 3/6/2011 9:29:58 PM

Bear in mind that all those cool visual powers cost money to put on screen. And with a cast of characters as large as a typical X-Men film, those costs only compound.

That's why you don't see more mutants with the visibly cool powers. Had Nightcrawler and Beast not been the showpiece mutants of their respetive films, you'd likely have never seen them on screen. Same goes for Mystique although in her case you can cheat somewhat by having her appear as other more normal looking characters a lot of the time.

New CONAN Photos Online (Article) - 3/5/2011 10:47:35 PM

He's got the right build, but the face just doesn't do it for me.

Conan ostenibly comes from what would be Northern Europe, and Jason looks obviously Kiwi.

The sword I can live with, but Arnold's was better.
