About Me:

It's so hard to pick favorites. There's no shame in loving the classics but what about our favorite B movies? Would my Mania membership be revoked if I admitted to multiple viewings of "Big Man on Campus" or "If Looks Could Kill"? My personal tastes are indefensible. These movies are endearing to me because of personal experiences and I wouldn't expect anyone else to love them the way that I do.

That being said, I love sci-fi and fantasy in general. I also love "true" tales of the paranormal. I love when the fiction and "non-fiction" cross over and influence each other as authors strive to find source material and witnesses grasp to explain their sightings.

Favorite Sci-Fi Movie:
Favorite Horror Movie:
Rosemary's Baby
Favorite Genre TV Show:
Fringe, Psych, Ghost Whisperer
Favorite Comic Book:
Anything by Steve Niles
Favorite Manga, Book, or Graphic Novel:
Wheel of Time Series
Favorite Video Game:
Legend of Zelda
Must Have DVD:
The 10th Kingdom (This is actually very good.)

Howdy LittleNell. That Lizzie Borden for your avatar or am I way off base?
LittleNell1824 5/19/2008 10:59:34 AM
Hey Joey! It is! I love those old murder mysteries. Did she or didn't she? Why do we want it to be her? There's some evidence that there might have been an axe murderer/serial killer at the time, but no one knew what a serial killer was then. The avatar I use in the Maniacs forum (I post in Lost) is of Lotta (Lottie) Churchill, another young women who allegedly killed her parent.... I'm a horror fan, and true horror scares me more than any make believe story could. ---Thanks so much saying 'howdy'!!

I thought I recognized that picture. It was bugging me all morning! Yeah I’m currently Bostonian and love it! I was, however, born & raised an hour south in lovely Fall River, MA, hometown to Lizzie and those dastardly deeds. I actually lived around the corner from Maplecroft for about 3 years as a kid. We used to dare each other to go into her yard. That was the huge, gorgeous Victorian Lizzie bought with her Dead Papa’s money. My understanding is he was a bit of a cheapskate, which may have played into the motive. Haven’t kept up on any recent theories/books on the murders but I doubt she actually committed the acts herself, though I think both her and her sister knew who done the deeds and were probably accessories before & after the fact. Ain’t heard the Ax murderin’ serial killer angle before though. Were there other similar murders around that time and area?

I agree wholeheartedly with your sentiments LittleNell, I really hope Brandon Sanderson has the skill and fortitude to finish A Memory of Light with all the dignity the series conclusion deserves.

It's nice to see someone else here on the site who recognizes that Robert Jordan's WoT arc really is one of the best epic fantasy series of all time (there are too many haters out there!). I know Sanderson has officially begun writing AMoL recently, so hopefully it won't be too long before it hits the shelves. Now if only we can get a release date on that, as well as A Dance with Dragons, I'll be one happy camper!

Hey! A little late on this, but having read all of Christine Feehan's books, you should definately check out her other "...Games" books. She has two other very popular series, the "Dark..." books and a series about 7 magical sisters. All very tasty in my opinion. She has some other stand alone novels also, but everything she writes is superb. She's my only author in the romance section that I buy the books the day they are released. If you're interested in learning more about the series and reading some of the 1st chapters then u can visit her website at Ok well, that all sounded rather like a commercial, but I do really love exposing others to this particular author. Well, sorry to bother but i couldn't help myself! Take care!

But hey to each her own. i've copied your thoughts into my notes and put your name beside them...the suggestion that she's "kind of drab" can fit nicely in...wiseguy likes the sexy librarian, i'd had the notion for an ice cream girl...maybe the librarin can teach her a thing or two :)

Hey nell,

best war movies have to be, Braveheart ( first of it's kind really in my opinion), LOTR, Gladiator, are good ones to start with. =)

Hey Nell. So glad you like Lies of Locke Lamora. It's such a great book. It just gets better and better as you read on. I too love how the magic is there but is kind of in the background. And yes the characters seem unlikeable at first, (they aren't called the Gentleman Bastards for nothing) but you do get to love them. Let me know what you think when you are done. Man, talking about it makes me want to read that again now. Once I'm done with the Percy Jackson series I'll give it a re-read.
