Well here is some good news about a film’s release date. The remake or re-imagined Evil Dead will now arrive one week earlier! Producer and star of the original film, Bruce Campbell had this to say: "The world cannot wait. The Evil Dead remake launches one week earlier! 4/5/13. You demanded it - you got it!"
The Plot: Directed by Fede Alvarez and produced by Sam Raimi, Rob Tapert and Bruce Campbell, the film follows five twenty-something friends who become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead. An archaeologist's tape recording reveals that the ancient text was discovered among the Khandarian ruins of a Sumerian civilization. Playing the taped incantations, the youths unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.
Evil Dead arrives April 5th, 2013.
Phew. When I first saw the headline I thought it was being delayed and was going to end up wallowing in development hell.
BTW, has anyone at Mania considered bringing back the Development Hell section from the old Cinescape days? That's the whole reason I started coming to Cinescape.
This is a smart move IMO at least for being the only "new" wide release opening that week which should help.
On the original date they had Scary Movie, 42 and Oblivion exclusively on I-Max to compete with
VT Gamehendge, I read that too back int he day. It was great but isn't the whole site part of that now? We don't need a section for that as we cover everything now. It was perfect when it was a magazine, once a month. But an hour after Abbrams was announcd to direct Star Wars we had it up. When Iron Man 3 got put on hold for RDJ injury we had somehting up.
Gotcha, Trate. I was just thinking about how there used to be a big pull-down list of movies that were "in production." I guess the way you guys do it now is probably better since you cover movies that are actually of interest. Lol, I remember that old list was like 200 movies long. We're still talking about some of them now, in fact.

So Scary Movie 5 is making them open against Jurassic Park 3D? Oh right it was because the fans wanted it sooner. It will be interesting to see how the numbers shake out.
