Despite being out for over 18 weeks, Ben Affleck’s Argo has returned to the top 10. The Academy favorite is now creeping in on rivals Zero Dark Thirty and Silver Linings Playbook. Which of you Maniacs caught Affleck’s Argo? I personally loved it, despite the a few exaggerations with the story, but over all I found it to be an entertaining film. Argo was not the over all winner for the weekend in dollars. That honor goes to Identity Thief.
Here is what Ruby Subers had to say about Identity Thief and how it took the number one spot despite Winter Storm Nemo. “At 3,141 locations, Identity Thief earned an estimated $36.6 million this weekend. That's one of the best openings ever for an original R-rated comedy, and it's director Seth Gordon's top start ahead of Four Christmases ($31.1 million) and Horrible Bosses ($28.3 million). It's also way up from Melissa McCarthy's Bridesmaids ($26.2 million); all three of the aforementioned titles wound up closing with at least $117 million, which suggests a $100 million finish is within reach for Identity Thief”. - Box Office Mojo

I don't think Argo is getting the pity vote but Lincoln was the better movie. But both were very good. Yes the airport scene was over the top - they added the sauce there just for the audience.
Hansel and Gretel .. ok movie with lots of action and nudity ... yummy ... 3/5
I caught an Argo matinee about six weeks after it was realeased. I really enjoyed it. And I'm not at all a fan of Benna-Fleck. I'm just a huge military/war/espionage fan and so I read a lot of such books and watch related movies, especially classic war movies. Actually getting ready to pop in A Bridge Too Far on Blu-Ray; one of my favorites. I'm just a big fan of military/war/espionage and so a movie like Argo entertained me. I also read a lot and Tom Clancy is my favorite author, and I always have two or three books going at once and always at least one of those books is non-fiction. My current non-fiction book is Atomic Obsession: Nuclear Alarmism from Hiroshima to Al-Queda by John Mueller. Fascinating read...
Also been reading Henry Kissinger's Nuclear Weapons and Foreign Policy. Lol, it's a tedious read!
Argo was a decent flick but it didn't "wow" me. Kind of reminds me of American Beauty or Beautiful Mind years ago. They were critical darlings and won many awards. I saw both and thought they were good movies but nothing super.
Speaking of Identity Thief, did anyone read Rex Reed's review in the NY Observer? He's under fire for personally attacking Melissa McCarthy.

I enjoyed Argo when I saw it. Even though I was familiar with the story, the tension and fear for me was palpable everytime things got tense.The movie felt real like a documentary. I really haven't seen any of Affleck's other films but I thought he did a masterful job here. Kind of wished Jack Kirby's real life contribution got mentioned but that would've been too much of a sidenote. The only other nominee I've seen was Les Miz which I also thoroughly enjoyed.
Baz, I heard about what Rex Smith said and the huge backlash he's received. That was highly unprofessional of him to take personal jabs at the woman rather than talking about his review of the movie. I'd like to hear what he has to say now after so many have gone after him.
Didn't see anything but I will make a point of seeing John McClane die alittle harder this weekend.
I saw Identity Thief. It was funny. I heard about Rex Reed's review. He's wrong. She's funny and talented. I'm not sure there has been as funny a physical comedian since John Ritter or Lucille Ball. I can't think of a female that has given as much of herself or taken as much physical abuse for a joke since Lucille Ball. Maybe Carol Burnett?!?
Went and saw bullet to the head and to me it felt like the whole movie was phoned in. Don't know if anybody else saw it but it seemed to me like very little effort was given to even one part of the movie.
Also saw Django again with my brother who hadn't seen it yet and I enjoyed it again for the second time.
Argo was really good to me as well. Yeah they took some big creative license with certain parts but in reality supposedly the operation went off without really any incident so without some tension it would have probably been a boring movie.

I caught Argo, didn't think it was great. I still think Lincoln should be the film walking away with all the awards. I think Argo is getting the pity vote for Affleck since he was not nominated.
Didn't catch anything this weekend mostly due to the snow storm but caught Movie 43, Parker, Warm Bodies, Bullett to the Head and a 2nd viewing of Hansel and Gretel during the week.
Enjoyed all of them and have to admit to having found Movie 43 and Parker much more entertaining than I thought would be the case.
