DESTRO from G.I. JOE - May 07, 2008 - 07:35pm
Yeah, I want to see the mask too. And Vaporman, if you really want to know, do a like google search. I saw they spoiler and wish I could have gone in not knowing. I'm sure it would have been obvious once I sit down to watch the movie, but it would've been a cool "aha" moment in the theater. I think imdb.com even has it spoiled.

Phoenix Taking On Rodriguez's HERETIC - Apr 23, 2008 - 06:31am
That looks like a cool story. Looking forward to it, and Solomon Kane.

Potterverse Threatened - Apr 21, 2008 - 07:16am
As an (unpublished) author, JKR is doing the right thing. The thing about copy right is you have to defend it. If you don't, you set a precedent for others to infringe on your work too. The Lexicon was ok, as long as it was a free website. When he tried to get it published (and make a profit), that's where the guy crossed the line. This is why numerous authors don't even allow fan fiction based on their characters these days. Not to be jerks, but because it becomes a slippery slope, as JKR is now learning. It's not so big of a step from published stories, resources, lexicons online, and the same appearing in the bookstore along side the original works. She is fighting this so hard to prevent it from ever happening again. And let's not forget Warner Brothers, who paid a pretty penny to have rights to the world. The lexicon infringes on their purchased rights too. This affects all future author rights deals, as this ruling could set a precedent. The amount of money JKR has made is irrelevant. Her copyright is protected whether she has made $5 selling a printout to her great aunt or the billions she's made from the rest of the world.

High Scale Theaters Coming Soon - Mar 26, 2008 - 07:53am
If they handed me a Blu-Ray/DVD combo disk with my ticket, I'd consider it. Otherwise, um, no. This would make a movie date night $100+ just for the movie and popcorn!

Spartans Returning, Y Trilogy and More Brainiac - Mar 14, 2008 - 08:45am
"What would a sequel to 300 even be called? 302?" No, just "1" One-eyed Faramir is the only one to survive. :) Or it could be called "3,000" if they want to start the movie where 300 left off.

Joes Are Patriotic, Black Panther Trilogy & More Supes! - Mar 07, 2008 - 08:22am
Possible GI Joe spoiler based on comic version from way back when: The Baroness went bad mainly due to the death of her brother, which she blamed on a person who would eventually be a part of GI Joe. If this funeral is that turning point, then like Wes menitoned, she'll join a mercenary group soon after to get revenge on her brother's killer.

New Toy Reveals CLOVERFIELD Monster - Feb 17, 2008 - 11:11am
Um... Spoiler image on the front page? Not everyone went to see this in the theater. I've been avoiding all Cloverfield reviews and information as to not be spoiled on this. NOw you post the picture on your main page (article preview). Thanks Mania!

First Glimpse at New WOLVERINE - Feb 14, 2008 - 08:33am
Huge coimic X-Men fan, and even larger fan of Wolverine. Do people really care that he's taller in the movie?? I'd rather a better actor than a better sized person in the role. And Stormrider: If the movies is your only exposure to Sabertooth, forget what you know. The comic character is MUCH better, meaner, and more complex. The fact that they didn't recast Dane as Sabertooth is the best news for this movie, AFAIC. Looking forward to this.

Del Toro Directing Both HOBBIT Films - Jan 28, 2008 - 06:38am
WK - "As to Alfonso Cuaron, PoA was my least favorite of the Potter film's because Cuaron took way too many liberties with the source material, ergo I couldn't be any more adamantly opposed to his returning to that franchise." That's interesting because according to Rowling, he nailed it and even caught some of her subtext that hinted to the future books (at that time unpublished). Back on topic, I'm glad Raimi is out. I wondered if he was in the front running or if he was just taking advantage of the press time from Spiderman 3 to campaign for the job. Del Toro will do a good job.

TORN - Jan 15, 2008 - 07:58am
It's not just a US thing, Jedibanner. I've seen movies in England, Finland, Denmark, Ecuador and Argentina. The same pricks that ruin the experience in the US have cousins in those places too. Maybe Canada is just the lucky spot. For me, the cost of movies is what keeps me at home. After the cost of the movie tickets, popcorn, and (now) babysitter, I might as well wait six months and buy the dvd and be able to watch it as much as I want. Or rent it, for that matter. I still see some films in the theater, the event films. I saw I AM Legend last month and am thinking about seeing Cloverfield (becasuse I want to see that one before it gets spoiled...) Don't want to watch dvds alone? Invite some people over. :) It's what I do.

I AM LEGEND 2 On the Horizon - Jan 03, 2008 - 07:38pm
To quote Will Smith in almost every movie he's in, "Aw, hell no."

Arnold Returning to TERMINATOR SALVATION Trilogy - Dec 30, 2007 - 01:00pm
Re: Arnie being a human character You forget that John Connor would shoot him on sight, or at least make sure the man is not a terminator by sticking a knife in him or something. Sure, two T 800's have tried to save him, but thime is getting close where the only T 800's are the dangerous ones.

WGA and AMPTP Aim Parting Shots Before Christmas - Dec 21, 2007 - 08:24am
It's not just TV, but movies, so the majors' use of Nielsen ratings to prove their point is very short sighted and shows they are grasping straws. THe impact won't been seen now or even next Spring (except when viewers wonder where the second half of their shows are). If the strike carries on to summer, that means no new movies wre being green lit. No new production. 2009 will show a dramtic decrease in normal dramas/comedies (low FX movies). 2010 will be very light on big blockbuster movies, the types that need a year of post production. The studios will have a huge hole in their revenue very soon. Reality TV isn't going to save their motion picture divisions. They need the writers. And they know it. They are betting on harsh rhetoric to sway public opinion.

Two More Confirmed for G.I JOE - Dec 20, 2007 - 10:19am
Nichols did a good job on the last season of Alias. She pulled off the innocent noob turning into a kick ass spy very well. Remember, Scarlet's specialty was counter-intellengence: spy. I'm looking forward to this movie more than I thought I would, especially since the story is rumored to revolve around Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow, easily my favorite storyline from the comics. The choices for the main three are solid (Snake eyes, Scarlet, Storm Shadow), so I'm happy. Zartan can be any (good) actor, since he's a master of desguise. Let's hope that Destro is actually Scottish. :)

Blu-Ray or HD-DVD? - Dec 11, 2007 - 04:34pm
I'll buy a HD dics (HDDVD or BR) when one of two things happen: one side wins or the players that play both formats hits $150. And not before. I suspect the majority of consumers out there are the same way. Until then, I'll enjoy my DVDs on my HD set. It won't be AS pretty, but that's really ok. Never be the early adopter of technology. You may feel better, but your wallet will be a lot lighter.

COMPASS Has Decent International Start - Dec 11, 2007 - 10:13am
Price of an average DVD = $20 *Pros = can rewatch it as much as I want *Cons = have to wait 6 months to see film Price of an average night out at the movies (2 people) = $20 (or $35 now that we need a baby sitter) *Pros = enjoy theater experience (unless there are jerks sitting behind us) *Can see a movie sooner *Cons = The jerks sitting behind us So, yeah. We hardly go out to the movies anymore. Our widescreen HD TV and home theater system give almost the same experience, costs less, I can have a beer or two during the movie in addition to what ever snacks I want, and all from my own couch. We saw two movies in the theater last summer (HP5 and Bourne), and that was only because my mother-in-law was in town to baby sit.

JERICHO Returns to CBS on Feb.12 - Dec 04, 2007 - 01:57pm
So, do I catch up on Jericho on DVD and watch in March only to be left hanging if the execs decide to can the shop in a cliff hanger? Or do I wait until season 3 is assured to catch up? I hear it's a great show, just didn't want to jump into the show mid stream last year.

Daniel Craig Updates on BOND 22 - Nov 26, 2007 - 09:18am
"As to fancy gadgets, I think people forget that Bond's first real "gadget" didn't show up until From Russia With Love and it was a briefcase with a pop out dagger, hidden currency, and an exploding deodorant cylinder. (Complete with explanation by Q branch.) " Exactly. If you think about it, the everyday gadgets used by Craig in CR are far more scifi than most of the "high tech" stuff in the early Bond films. Using hacking into M's account to track the Cell phone call Injecting the tracking device into Bond with the X ray confirmation. Hacking into Ms account to read dossiers. :) General cell phone police work. All of that would've been the oooh ahhh gadgets in the 60's and 70's, even the 80's for that matter. Now they are normal tech. And since we're sharing ratings: (early) Connery followed closely by Craig, Brosnan, Moore, and then Dalton. I don't dislike any of the actors. They each brought a different approach to Bond, but the writing on makes or breaks the movies.

Josh Lucas Searches For TELL-TALE HEART - Nov 07, 2007 - 10:10am
SO, Lucas' heart is going to beat louder and louder when he'snear the killer? ie The donor was the man with a milky eye? That's a bit of a stretch for me. I'm willing to give it a shot on DVD, but it's seems as inspired from Poe's story as much as Gladiator was inspired by History of the World part 1.

LOST Cut in Half & Related WGA News - Nov 06, 2007 - 09:14am
Sigh. It's like reading Feast for Crows*, knowing that most of your favorite characters aren't even in it. I'm almost in favor of them just holding these 8 episodes of Lost until they can finish shooting the rest. The same with BSG. Or maybe I'll just wait until they all comeout on DVD. No commercials and no wait between picket lines. *For those of you who don't read George RR Martin (and you should), book 4 took five years to come out. Then it was so big, he had to split it in half. To make it a more complete novel, he used the chapters that dealt with the southern half of the kingdom. Two years later we're still waiting for him to finish the second half, titled Dane with Dragons. Yes, his writing is worth the wait, but it's frustrating none the less.

New CONAN Teaser Poster Online - Nov 02, 2007 - 08:57am
I like the Rock, but I'd rather see see him in another Scorpion King movie than taking on Conan. Ok, you got me, I just really want to see Kelly Hu run around in skimpy clothes again. :) I'm glad they're doing Conan. Let's hope they do it right. It's got to be a less risk than LotR was (when greenlighted). I hope they gave it the needed budget.

Adrian Paul Battles Piracy as CAPTAIN DRAKE - Nov 02, 2007 - 08:49am
The Source has edged out Highlander 2 as the worst sequel, a feat thought impossible. The description looks good (I love pirate movies), but yeah, it's sci fi channel. Nothing good has come from there except BSG and the two Dune mini series.

Vanderbilt Writing SPIDER-MAN 4 - Oct 31, 2007 - 11:16am
Nice job, Wes. A nice tight story, building on the foundations fromt he first films and not throwing in every villian. The advantage of Sony wanting to do three more, is they can space out the villians and not cram them all in. Though, it might be fun to have the end of the second trilogy feature the Sinister SIx. (After they've all bee introduced in previous movies)

GI JOE Begins Casting For Feb Start - Oct 26, 2007 - 09:36am
Re: Keeping Cobra Commander's identy a secret They did it in Kingdom of Heaven, where Ed Norton played the Leper King behind the silver mask. Of course, that film wasn't under scrutiny during filming... I can't believe there were no fan boys hounding the set to make sure Balian's character was played true to history. :)

Smit-McPhee Cast for WOLVERINE - Oct 26, 2007 - 09:28am
I will call him, "Mini Wolvie." I hadn't considered flashbacks that far back, but ti could be cool. ANd the place to do it, not during a hoped for adventure in Japan for hte next one.

Wolverine, Avatar & Underworld 3 Shooting Dates - Oct 25, 2007 - 09:39am
I have a soft spot for werewolf/vampire tales, so I'm glad they're making UW 3. I really liked the first one and the general premise of the second, though they went a bit Hybrid Happy... From everything I've read, it appears that the prequel will center on Lucian's tale. Could be changed by now, but that's what Wiseman was saying just after Evolution.

New RAMBO Trailer Shoots Online - Oct 24, 2007 - 01:10pm
Meh. But since I didn't care for Rambo 2 and don't think I ever even saw 3, I'm probably not the targetaudience for this.

SARAH CONNOR Begins Between 24 - Oct 17, 2007 - 10:12am
So they are putting SC Chronicles up against Heroes? Whose bright idea was that? Or is 24 against Heroes?

Peter Berg directing DUNE Remake? - Oct 16, 2007 - 09:36am
Put me into the Dune Miniseries fan group. Especially the first part of the Children of Dun mini (Dune Messiah, actually). The end of that where the "debts are paid" is still one of my favorite movie moments of all time. I tried watching Lynch's version again a year ago. Still don't care for it. To much voice over. "Is he the one?" "Who am I" "Shouldn't this be an episode of Scrubs the way I keep thinking to myself?" Dune 2000 handled the internal monologue much better. Even so, if Peter Berg can pull a Peter Jackson with this, I'm there. (THe recent LotR trilogy was a "remake" too ;) )

Megan Fox Confirms Desire for HACK/SLASH - Sep 27, 2007 - 09:49am
I just want to say that Brian is a lucky man. :)

Update: Jessica Biel Out of WONDER WOMAN - Sep 25, 2007 - 09:32am
Monica Belluci would've been perfect 10 years ago. She's my fantasy woman, don't get me wrong, but they aren't going to cast her for WW. They need to find a younger unknown Italian/Spanish/ or (shocker) Greek Monica Belluci for the role. Please, not Biel. She good in some roles, but not this one. ETA: And for Superman they should cast Henry Cavill (http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0147147/). He was th son in Count of Monte Cristo and was in Showtime's The Tudors. He has the look, the size (now) and the acting chops.

Cohen Updates MUMMY 3 - Sep 25, 2007 - 09:26am
I'm looking forward to this too. They are fun movies. And I'm glad Sommers isn't on it. After what he did to Van Helsing... What a cool concept, wasted. I'd like to see a VH 2 without Sommers.

Robert Jordan Passes Away - Sep 17, 2007 - 11:31am
This news blew me away when I saw it. Knowing a man is sick kind of prepares you for this kind of news, but I was still heart broken. He will be missed. And Mlauzon, regarding your Goodkind comment, you named the one thing that would keep me from reading MoL.

Strike Memo of High Priority Movies? - Sep 14, 2007 - 10:44am
I read last summer that the strike has to do with DVD royalties. Writers got to eat. :) That's a long list of movies to get finished before June. Some of those are already being shot (James Bond for instance), but a lot of those aren't even offically in pre-production yet. I'm looking forward to Scott's Nottingham and hope the rush to finish doesn't screw it up.

Maria Bello Knows Kung-Fu in MUMMY 3 - Sep 12, 2007 - 02:36pm
"What I am not OK with is suddenly making her into a kung-fu master. That is ridiculously out of character." No, it fits. In the first film, she was just a stumbling librarian. In the second file (8+ years later), she's an accomplished adventurer. Now another 12 years or so have passed. Plenty of time to learn how to fight. Evie's development is pretty interesting, actually. O'Connel is still O'Connel, now just a husband and father. Evie has completely evolved.

More Mutants in WOLVERINE? - Sep 11, 2007 - 10:20pm
I just thought of something that might add to the Gambit rumors: One of the producers (Lauren Donner Shuler) is a huge fan of Josh Hollaway (Sawyer in Lost). Retconning Gambit to be in Logan's past wipes away the age issues (ie Hollaway is way to old for Anna Paquin's Rogue)

More Mutants in WOLVERINE? - Sep 11, 2007 - 09:39am
While I'm a big Gambit fan, I hope he's not in this movie. This is Logan's orgiin story, not an X Men story. That said, I assume the new mutant to be Maverick, Silver Fox, or some other Weapon X mutant (X not "10"...). Deadpool maybe.

Tobey Maguire Attacks in ROBOTECH - Sep 07, 2007 - 08:59am
As long as Max stilll has blue hair and Myra green, it's all god. Actually, they should retain all anime hair colors. :)

Universal Pictures Ready for IMMORTAL - Sep 06, 2007 - 10:16pm
The Source dvd was released in Russia last January. My brother was living in China and brought back the dvd. I'm a huge fan of the first movie and the tv series. I adopted the name "Myrddin" for the first time over 10 years ago on the Highlander forums. And I hated the Source more than HL2. Don't visit the official Highlander forums unless you want the ending of Source spoiled. Most of them ordered the dvd from Russia.

Universal Pictures Ready for IMMORTAL - Sep 06, 2007 - 10:36am
It can't be worse than Highlander: The Source (which is actuall worse than HL2...)

Fox Has Director for STREET FIGHTER - Sep 06, 2007 - 10:35am
I can't wait for the next fad in Hollywood. VIDEO GAME CROSSOVERS! Get ready for Mortal Kombat vs Street Fighter DOA vs Resident Evil Half-Life vs HALO Yugio vs Pokemon

Uhura Cast & Plot for Abrams' STAR TREK? - Aug 31, 2007 - 09:26am
Actually, this bothers me less than just a prequel or a straight reboot. It ties this new version to the old continuity, but as an alternate universe. So, anything that happens here will affect the future without screwing with the other shows/movies. It fits the rules already established within the franchise. It'd be cool if they established that OS Spock was now stuck in this alternate universe and the way back was closed. Or if they found a way to close the door on time travel after this (either in the "present" timeline or the new one) and let this alternate reality progress without further jumping in time.

Discoveries’ Open Call - Aug 30, 2007 - 04:52pm
This is an important note in their guidelines: "What we’re most interested in are books that are set in a contemporary or historical setting but with the addition of some SF, fantasy, and/or horror elements." No standard fantasy epics. Of course if yours is the best one written, I'm sure they'd be interested, but from all indications from the first open call for this imprtint 2 years ago, thy're looking for non-standard speculative fiction.

Dreamworks, Paramount Now HD-DVD Exclusive - Aug 21, 2007 - 10:03am
I think I'll just buy the $75 up-converter DVD player I saw at Sam's and wait for the format war to piddle out. Either one format will win or all HD players will play both so it doesn't really matter anymore than the fact that one blank CD on my desk is TDK and the other is Imation brand. Besides, competition is good. It'll keep the prices down.

Anti-Religion Not in GOLDEN COMPASS - Aug 21, 2007 - 09:49am
Pullman is to athiestic children's literature what Lewis is to Christian children's literature. The Golden Compass doesn't show Pullman's beliefs as much as the last book does, which to me devolved into the author's soapbox against religion and sacrificed the story. That said, Kidman's comment surprised me. As much as I disliked the way the trilogy went in terms of being anti-religion (anti-Christianity, really), I'm surprised that Pullman allowed this to happen. It'd be the same as making Aslan just some magical lion, not Jesus/God personified, ie removing the main thrust of the author's intent. Lewis would've rolled over in his grave had that happened. Interesting. And Merin, Narnia is steeped in Christian allagory on purpose. CS Lewis was a prolific writer of Christian theology. Very well thought out. He had a different view than his buddy Tolkien, who didn't care for direct allagory. Lewis was a fan of it. So, yes, Narnia is full of Christian imagery. All 7 books are. His Dark Materals, even neutered, is nothig like Narnia.

Eberron Author Marsheila Rockwell - Aug 15, 2007 - 10:20am
Cool Interview. I really enjoyed this book. Intriguing mystery and interesting characters. I hope Wizards offers her the chance to write more in Eberron.

Kevin McKidd As The New THOR? - Aug 15, 2007 - 09:18am
I've liked McKidd for awhile. Even so, before seeing Rome, i would've laughed at having the Scotsman playing a Roman Centurion. But he kicked ass. As for the "grounded in reality," unfortunately they have to if they are going to do an Avengers movie. All the seperate movies setting up the characters ill have to similar tones, or when they merge teh characters into one movie it'll feel weird. In the same way you can't picture Jack's Joker, Ahnuld's Mr Freeze, and Murphy's Scarecrow in the same movie. Tonally, each character is different, though they all exist in the same universe. Anyway. I like McKidd's casting here. Can't wait to see him on screen alone and then with RD Jr and Ed Norton.

Raimi to Direct HOBBIT, Jackson to Produce? - Aug 14, 2007 - 12:29pm
Hmmm... should Bruce play the Orc King, Beorn, or Bard? lol I hopr Raimi keeps the tone closer to LotR than Evil Dead or Spider man. And I hope Bruce doesn't have a "scene stealing scene" like he always tries to have. They worked in Spiderman, but the Hobbit should be more of an ensemble ala LOTR. I'm glad it looks like it's getting made, I'm glad Jackson is involved so there will be some continuity, and I'm glad Sir Ian and others are most likely coming back. I just hope it LOOKS like the same Middle Earth as the trilogy. Bags End should look identical, as should Misty Mountains, the (pre) stone Trolls, and Rivendell. /crosses fingers

Stephen Sommers to Direct G.I JOE? - Aug 11, 2007 - 07:30pm
I hate to say this, but I'll probably see this (on DVD). I grew up with the cartoon/toys (I'm 35 now) and wouldn't mind seeing Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow on the big (small) screen. I'm not sure how they'll do Destro, but I hope they do him right. I'm not saying this is a movie I'm looking forward to, like say THe Hobbit or Indy 4, but I'll still see it.

Next HIGHLANDER Direct to Tv - Aug 07, 2007 - 12:42pm
RE: "the Russian Cut" (ie my Chinese DVD rip off) The producers were supposedly re-editing after this version was released (legally, btw). On the offical forums, one of the original screen writers (of a previous draft of The Source) hangs out there. He basically said that there's nothing left out of the Russian Cut. It's the complete shooting script. There's nodeleted scenes to add back in to make it better/make sense. There's nothing the producer's cut can do but change voice overs (they've said no new footage will be shot). The Source makes you long for HL2...

NBC Gets New Supernatural Show - Aug 06, 2007 - 10:35pm
^^^^ LOL! Sad but probably closer to the truth...

Next HIGHLANDER Direct to Tv - Aug 06, 2007 - 10:32pm
My brother brought me back the Source on DVD from China. (No I don't support piracy, but he bought it, didn't want it and gave it to me) The cover was the video game cover from Star Wars Knights of the Old Replublic with Adrian Paul's head superimposed over the jedi's (lightsaber, space ships, and aliens still there). Even this would've been preferable to the movie... Keep your expectations low. Then you may just keep from flipping the channel half way through.

Helen Slater Confirmed For SMALLVILLE - Aug 06, 2007 - 09:14pm
Let's not forget Miss Tesbacher! :) (how ever you spell it)

NBC Gets New Supernatural Show - Aug 06, 2007 - 11:55am
Add me to the list of skecptics when it comes to the networks actually letting a show continue without being hacked off at the knees. I almost didn't wtch Heroes last year because I figured the NBC would pull it after 5 episodes. Even then, I resisted the urge to get sucked in until it became a "hit". Only then did I relax and enjoy the show, because I knew it wouldn't get axed. So, yeah, it's great the big five are greenlighting more genre shows, but they have a long way to go before convinving me they really stand behind their product.

Universal Acquires Silva's SPY Series - Aug 02, 2007 - 02:36pm
I read Prince of Fire and thought, meh. Maybe it was just the stage of the series, where the main character was resolving a lot from his past. Granted, had I read the first four, maybe the resolution would've resonated more. The writing was fine, a page turning thriller, but the story underwhelmed me. I hope the Messenger is a better tale.

Universal Wants SHINOBI Remake - Jul 31, 2007 - 10:28am
I have an idea. Let's remake Gladiator but instead of ancient Rome, let's place it in the American Old West. Wait, you say? It's not the same movie? Yeah, remaking a 16th century Japanese era film into a modern Hong Kong setting is like that. So basically, they're not remaking Shinobi, but Romeo and Juliet in Hong Kong with rival military forces.

BEOWULF Trailer Now Online - Jul 26, 2007 - 12:00pm
The trailer looked good, but the quality between characters varied. Jolie's animated form looked like the actress was there. The skin tone, shadows, details looked flawless. The others were less so. Especially the Queen (Princess Buttercup). She looked like a video game cut scene. You can tell the best people worked on Jolie. Her character was the only one whose eyes didn't look weird. I hope they have time to polish the rest before November.

Disney Bans SMOKING From Movies - Jul 26, 2007 - 09:01am
You know, I've always felt that Casablanca should be rated R due to the fact the characters smoke all the time! Rick also drank whiskey. They should look into adding that to the auto "R" list. /sarcasm

300 Marches on to DVD July 31st - Jul 24, 2007 - 11:47am
And so it begins... They start dropping stuff from the DVD releases to encourage people to by the HD versions. Seems like the Webisodes and Who were the Spartans? should fit on a second disk set. Put me in the "non-early adopter" group for new technology. Especially when there're two formats duking it out ala VHS/Betamax. As good as HD looks, it's not as much of a quality jump like VHS to DVD to make me want to ugrade my library. That said, this might be a movie I wait to buy in a few years on HD DVD (or Blu Ray) once the format wars dies down. This movie will visually pop in HD, more so that most films.

Stevenson is the new PUNISHER - Jul 23, 2007 - 08:24am
I've never seen a Punisher film. Not Dolph, Not Jane. Never cared for the charactert that much. But, I will see Titus Pullo in the role. :)

More Sequel & Comic Franchises - Jul 20, 2007 - 08:57am
"By the end of August, 14 sequels will have passed through movie theaters" 14?? Help me out here: Spiderman 3 Shrek 3 Pirates ot C 3 FF 2 Live Free or Die Hard Harry Potter 5 28 Weeks Later Oceans 13 Hostel 2 Surfs Up Evan Almighty Rush Hour 3 Mr Bean's Holiday (?) 14? But wow, that's alot.

Ridley Scott & Fox Grab VAMPIRE Tale - Jul 20, 2007 - 08:41am
Wow. Two bidding wars for a first book not even out yet??? I wish my first book would do a quarter that well... Or any of the following ones for that matter.

WOLVERINE Gets a Director - Jul 20, 2007 - 08:39am
I can't believe they're doing an origin story... Most superhero movies drag for the first half because they have to cover the origin. When they finally have a character whose origin was told (enough to understand him), they decide to tell his origin anyway. Sigh. Yes, seeing Logan doing covert operations type stuff will be cool, but not as cool as going to Japan and facing off the Hand (real hand, not the girl scouts troup they showed in Elecrtra). Or Madripoor. Seeing Wolvie lying low in that pit with an eyepatch while he recovers from jean's death in X-3 would be a good segue into his own series. And yes, I'll probably still go see it no matter what, so put me in the "Part of the problem, not hte solution" column. Wolvie and Gambit were my favorite characters when I collected comics in high school. I'd really like to see

THE LAST LEGION Trailer - Jul 17, 2007 - 08:46am
I've done a lot of research into the historical roots of Arthur, so I'll probably see this regardless. Whlie the production values seem low (to comparable epic movies), it looks like they're taking a new(er) approach by focusing on Arthur's father and "Merlin" trying to pave the way for the once and future king. The sword quest at least gives someone raised in Rome a reason to go to Britain that late in history (after the legions left), where he can consolodate power against the germanic invasions. While nothing presented in the trailer or synopsis resembles any historical basis or theory I've read, the historical Aurelius is a candidate that is sometimes presented as being Arthur or his father. The trailer did mentioned Vortigern (a story Aurelius is sometimes associated with), so I assume this will deal with the fall of that Celtic highking who invited Saxons to his own shores as mercenaries. Definately a better plot than sending Arthur north of the Wall to rescue a Roman senator a day before his men's contract runs out...

10,000 B.C Trailer - Jul 11, 2007 - 07:55pm
Looks good. Maybe now he can direct Soul of the Age. I'm really looking forward to that one.

No CGI in INDY IV - Jul 05, 2007 - 04:17pm
I'm not wholly against them using CGI for Indy. I'm glad they're not going in thinking, "Let's use CGI to create a sequence where..." But, some of the effects from the original could've wroked better as CGI. (for example, the plane crashing (and subsequent explosion) in the side of the mountain in Temple of Doom looked bad. CGIing effects like that I'm in favor of). Regardless, low reliance is good.

Olyphant talks HITMAN & DEADWOOD - Jun 28, 2007 - 09:14am
I just started watching season 3 of Deadwood last night. Great show. Everytime I watch it, I'm amazed how such crass language can flow with almost Shakespere-like dialog.

Lucasarts LIGHTSABER Game for WII? - Jun 28, 2007 - 09:10am
Almost makes me want to buy a Wii...

New Line Looking For CONAN - Jun 28, 2007 - 09:07am
Even though I wished they could get a Arhnold King Conan movie made (5 years ago), I'm happy that they're trying to reboot the franchise. Though most S&S is cheesy and lame, I still like the classic ones.

VALKYRIE Filming Barred in Germany - Jun 26, 2007 - 08:55am
I both laughed at this announcement and cringed. Yes, I think a religion created by a sci-fi writer is the height of stupidity, especially one where paying to be "saved" (cleansed) seems to be the main point. But it's unnerving that a religion would be the reason to bar a movie production in a modern country like Germany. In their defense, though, Crusie does have certain religious requirements with every production he is a part of. He requires that tents are set up to answers questions about the religion, etc. Essentially, he requires scientology missionaries to be on set. That may be the root of their complaint. If Cruise backs down on his personal requirements, I wouldn't be surprised to see filiming commense on German soil.

Aged INDY Picture Revealed - Jun 22, 2007 - 07:35am
I love Indiana Jones and am really looking forward to this. But... what kind of man is wearing exactly the same shirt, pants, and hat from 20 years ago? The hat I can see. Besides being his trademark, a hat is something that can stand the test of time. But otherwise, it looks like he got dumped in the middle of nowhere with a suitcase he packed in the late 30's... No, I'm not saying the movie will suck or anything, but the picture stirred some uncomfprtable thoughts.

"Transformers: The Album" Arrives in July - Jun 14, 2007 - 08:22pm
Speaking of Stan Bush and MySpace, I just had a childhood flashback. :) Sure the songs are cheesy, but damn they bring back memories of a kid imagining along side them.

Battlestar Galactica Series 1 Action Figures - May 30, 2007 - 08:57am
Not that I would buy this regardless, but why have a doll for Hotdog? Why not Baltar, Adama, Boomer, Roslin, or Starbuck? You know, a main character? But since I don't play with dolls any more, maybe I'm not the target audience. ;)

CLONE WARS Preview - May 28, 2007 - 01:42am
McKracken: Lucas said the live action tv show would not feature the skywalkers. The animated show is in the same vein as the other Clone War shows, thus includes the cast from the prequel. As for the preview, looks good. Well, it looks really good for the space battles and clone vs battle droids. Just a step off the movies. But the character faces will take a while to get used to. I'll tune in, but it's not high on my list. But then, I'm hardly the target audience. By the time they're released, my son will be old enough to watch them. :)

To the Bat Cave, Robin! - May 24, 2007 - 03:01pm
lol That's too funny. Of all the movie/comic/tv collectable junk I've seen, I could see myself buying this. If it were $30.

"The Cage" Enterprise - May 18, 2007 - 08:36am
I'm not a fan of Star Trek, but I found the first post interesting and original, unlike the typical Internet troll named ORIGINALdave77. lol

Murphy to Welcome All to ISLAND - May 10, 2007 - 10:17am
I guess this means The Love Boat will be making a comeback soon... Where Murphy will play Julie, Gopher, the Doc, and Captain Stoobing.

ABC's LOST to End in 2010 - May 07, 2007 - 09:47am
This is great news. I wish X-Files had done this. And I hope Battlestar Galactica will do the same. Some shows should not just continue just to continue. With the revival in quality in season 3, I'm excited about Lost again.

Spider-Man Death of Eddie Brock Statue - May 07, 2007 - 09:41am
Umm... Some of us don't go see movies on openig weekend... Thanks for the spoiler. :(

"Highlander: Best of the Best" Contest - Apr 08, 2007 - 04:52pm
Sounds great! Except, I can't find which episodes are even on this collection... Care to share a list with us?
