First Official Photo Arrives

Many us have seen a similar photo for Kick-Ass 2. This is the first official image released by Marv Films. The image, which comes via Entertainment Weekly, features Jim Carry as Colonel Stars and Stripes and Arron Taylor-Johnson as Kick Ass.

The Plot: Kick-Ass, Hit Girl and Red Mist return for the follow-up to 2010’s irreverent global hit: Kick-Ass 2. After Kick-Ass’ (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) insane bravery inspires a new wave of self-made masked crusaders, led by the badass Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey), our hero joins them on patrol. When these amateur superheroes are hunted down by Red Mist (Christopher Mintz-Plasse)—reborn as The Mother F%&*^r—only the blade-wielding Hit Girl (Chloe Grace Moretz) can prevent their annihilation. When we last saw junior assassin Hit Girl and young vigilante Kick-Ass, they were trying to live as normal teenagers Mindy and Dave. With graduation looming and uncertain what to do, Dave decides to start the world’s first superhero team with Mindy.

Unfortunately, when Mindy is busted for sneaking out as Hit Girl, she’s forced to retire—leaving her to navigate the terrifying world of high-school mean girls on her own. With no one left to turn to, Dave joins forces with Justice Forever, run by a born-again ex-mobster named Colonel Stars and Stripes. Just as they start to make a real difference on the streets, the world’s first super villain, The Mother F%&*^r, assembles his own evil league and puts a plan in motion to make Kick-Ass and Hit Girl pay for what they did to his dad. But there’s only one problem with his scheme: If you mess with one member of Justice Forever, you mess with them all.

Entertainment Weekly’s Caption for the Photograph: In the action-comedy sequel Kick-Ass 2 (out June 28), the eponymous hero (Aaron Taylor-Johnson, right) joins a superhero team called Justice Forever, led by Colonel Stars and Stripes (Jim Carrey, left). Chloe Grace Moretz reprises her role as Mindy, but has “given up Hit Girl and is trying to be a normal teenage,” says Jeff Wadlow, who picks up the directing reigns from Matthew Vaughn.

Kick-Ass 2 arrives June 28, 2013

This is most I've read about the storyline for this movie yet.  Gotta say, sounds kind of lame.  I thought the first one was more RedBox than Theaterworthy and this one looks the same, or more probably, worse.  Even for the tone of these movies, I'm betting Carrey goes over the top.  I think they waited too long between sequels too, the main actors are 3 years older which is a lifetime in the evolution of a teenager.  I know I post here a lot saying most new movies look questionable or worse, so maybe I'm a cynic or a pessimist, but for what it's worth, I usually hope that I'm wrong.  Usually; if Battleship had been good, I would have been pissed.

I wonder if Kick Ass will have Carrey talking out his ass?

I liked the first one, kinda because it was a little cheesy. Looking forward to this one, sounds fun, like the addition of Carrey!

Loved the first one can't wait for the sequel, especially interested to see how they use Jim Carrey.

I hosetly can't understand why a comic fan, or a fan of this genre, couldn't have LOVED the first Kick Ass - it was awesome and I enjoy it each time I watch it! I just hope that this second film can live up to the first one.

Muenster, when was the last time you watched Me Myself and Irene? Jim Carey certainly used plenty of profanity (and props) in that one!

almostunbiased 1/21/2013 2:11:41 PM

I thought the first one was a riot, hope this is just as messed up

Muenster 1/21/2013 8:26:12 PM

This is ought to be interesting... Jim Carrey does not like to use excessive profanity. Have not heard Carrey use gratutious blue-language (assuming he does in this film) since his stand-up days back in the 80's and early 90's. But then again, his character is "born again". Might be the only one that doesn't.
