Superman vs Batman Delayed

Coming NOW in 2016

Well 2015 got a little less crowded over the weekend. Warner Brothers has pushed the Man of Steel sequel, Superman vs Batman, back to 2016. Variety is reporting that the Peter Pan origin story “Pan” will now move into its spot.

Warner Brothers is claiming that they need more time to “help fully realize the vision”. Perhaps the casting of the film’s villain (could it be Joaquin Phoenix?) has things on hold?

This also throws Ben Affleck's schedule out of Bat-Sync has he was supposed to direct Live by Night after production of Superman vs Batman wrapped. Could this mean a delay or a departure for Affleck on either project? Will anyone else have to leave the film?

This is all very interesting as the pressure will definitely be on Warner Brothers and Zach Snyder to deliver one hell of a film. Their direct competition, Marvel and Disney, will have had another Captain America released, as well as an Avengers sequel to contend with. Not to mention Guardians of the Galaxy and Ant-Man are just waiting in the wings.

Yes but the Superman/Batman film will be released on the same weekend as an untitled Marvel movie from what I read.  Seems to me that Warner Brothers is trying hard to rise to the challege.  Either that or they really want to screw with Disney/Marvel by dropping their biggest movie of their schedule on the same weekend as theirs....

Whatever the reason, I think it's good because what they're doing sounds like a desperate attempt to keep up/compete with Marvel. It went from being a sequel to some premature vehicle for JLA.

It may have nothing to do with money or schedules. They may just be getting serious about what they are doing. It would be absolute foolishness to move forward without taking a cue from how Marvel did it.

its a better idea for the film period, it allows the proper amount of time for production. the 2015 release date left me feeling we were going to be handed a subpar product. Warner/DC can try and be competition all they want as long as theydo it correctly.  Both franchises can have huge successes regardless of each other provided the end result is worth it.  I mainly read Marvel as a teen, it wasnt until justice league and unlimited that i really followed DC.  I will see movies from both companies as i think many of you will.

I have a feeling that the DC crew is going to do a back to back to back filming of multiple movies to try and make a big splash. You heard it here first :)  - Rather than just throw it together for one film, there will be a plan that has multiple movies in it. It will aslo allow those Stage two Marvel movies to be over and maybe DC can go on a roll.

I saw this coming.  I agree that the more time they put into the production, the better the product will be.  My concerns are them using this time to cram a lot more stuff into this movie than it needs to be...

In the meantime I had an idea regarding the Gotham TV series...

The GCPD are on the trail of a notorious vigilante known only as The Wildcat...

Ted Grant is an ex-MMO champion who runs a gym in the East End, which is robbed by a gang who Grant takes down single-handedly. A twelve year old Selina Kyle was dragged along by the gang and Ted takes her in...

As for the "vision and scope are too big" that's the WB official response. There are rumours some of the WB bigwigs did not want to release the movie the same summer as Avengers 2 because they are very "similar". Meaning an all-star hero movie.

Smart move. I always said two super team type movies in one summer is too much.
It's funny how a lot of movies are now backing out of summer of 2015 now? Pirates 5, Star Wars 7 and now this.

This bodes well for Ant Man that was slated 2 weeks after the MOS 2 movie.

But 2016, we have:

Unamed Marvel movie: May 6
MOS 2 : May 6
X-men Apocalypse: May 27
Spidey 3: June 16

Four superhero movies in 6 weeks. Ouch!

Delay it, don't delay it. WB has NO idea what they're doing with their DC movies outside of animated so it's going to be a pile of crap. Very explosive & flashy crap, but crap.

Could the movie gods be at work and make it so that Ben Crapfest would need to bow out of the movies???

One can only hope...regardless, pushing the movie to a less busy period is better and more logical.

a sched. conflict with Affleck gives WB an opportunity to cast Michael Keaton as the Batman. Especially if the script calls for the older, more seasoned Batman. Keaton is over 60 I think, but looks great, and he'd be a great stunt cast.

Bad side: this won't work well for a Justice League franchise. WB needs to get its collective shit together
