Mania Review: Stoker (Article) - 3/1/2013 7:00:14 AM

Great! Now, can we get a grade for this review?

Continuum: The Politics of Time (Article) - 2/27/2013 5:25:16 AM

This episode reminded me of the PS3 game, Heavy Rain. The tech and investigative procedures Kiera uses reminds me of Agent Norman Jayden's "ARI" device, the music was suprisingly similar to that used during certain scenes in the game, and of course since this was filmed in Vancouver ... there were copious amounts of rain in practically every scene!

This was a very good episode. Even I didn't see the end coming (I thought the killer was the assistant), and the reveal about Kiera's husband was a shocking surprise. Sometimes this show goes places I would never expect from a SyFy show. Very interested in seeing how the remainder of the season plays out.

Continuum: Times Up Review (Article) - 2/21/2013 6:02:24 AM

JDK008, I would imagine this has to do with the show originally airing in Canada and having different timing when it comes to commercial breaks, if any. So for the US airing they probably have to work the breaks in suddenly in-between scenes that were not originally intended for them. I did notice this, too.

Spartacus: War of the Damned: Men of Honor Review (Article) - 2/11/2013 6:46:44 AM

Naevia is super hot!!! Although, not as hot as the previous actress playing her.

This episode did not sit well with me. But this might be because I know what happens next, historically. The pirates showing up just put a hard rock in the pit of my stomach, because I'm anxious now about what will eventually happen next.

Continuum: Matter of Time Review (Article) - 2/5/2013 6:11:54 AM

I was just about to call it quits with this episode. I felt I gave this show enough of a chance, and that this 4th episode would make or break it for me. But, finally, I do see a glimmer of hope here. You're right, the Kagame flashback went a long way toward making us see Liber8's side of things, and to maybe even begin to sympathize with the group. This sort of gray, complex layering is what we really needed. I'm still not sold on Kiera as a badass future cop. She's still too weepy at times, and at other times supsiciously cheerful. Can't quite get a good peg on her character yet, which seems to be more a fault of the writing for her character and not so much of the actress.

Still, I'm going to give this show an extended chance now. Maybe 2 more episodes to really prove its worth.

Eva Green For Sin City Sequel (Article) - 1/30/2013 5:59:10 AM

Hmmm, so they replaced Devon Aoki with Jamie Chung to play "Miho" this time? Ugh, I'm so sick of seeing Jamie Chung's face everywhere.

I loved the first Sin City, though, and Eva Green was awesome in Kingdom of Heaven, Casino Royale, and was the only reason I tuned in to watch Camelot. So this I'm excited for!

After Earth Trailer (Article) - 12/11/2012 6:19:19 AM

I'm pretty sure Will Smith dies early on, and that he's really a holographic projection with AI and intuitive responses pre-recorded to help his son overcome fear and become a man in the event of his death. At least, that's what this teaser is showing me. I could be wrong. Certain scenes, like the one of Will Smith walking out in the open with the spear-type weapon in his hand might prove me wrong. Then again, they might not.

Dexter: Helter Skelter Review (Article) - 11/28/2012 4:55:40 AM

It's blood spatter, not splatter. Weren't you listening to Isaak in Episode 4 a few weeks back?

Fall of 82: The Last Unicorn (Article) - 11/19/2012 6:12:09 AM

This was my very first time going to the movies. I was six years old, and I remember my parents and us kids standing in line outdoors at Times Square waiting to get in to the theater for this. At the time, the movie made almost no sense to me. All I remember are the unicorns in the waves and a scary, giant red bull (without wings). I can vaguely recall the title song, which I believe also played in the end credits. Or maybe just the end credits. Oddly enough, I own this on DVD but never got around to actually rewatching it again. This article makes me want to correct that oversight now.

Revolution: Ties That Bind Review (Article) - 11/15/2012 5:48:16 AM

Silent Killer, I don't think you or your wife were paying particularly close attention on this one thing. The reason they were able to set off that explosion and have all the guards conveniently walk away was because . . . it was a setup all along. Nora's sister was intended to be rescued so that she could steal the necklace and bring it back. Myles should have seen right through that obvious setup, sure, but I wouldn't necessarily call that lazy writing.
