Rogen Still Wants Chow for the HORNET - Jun 04, 2008 - 11:37pm
Yeah, NotAFan, because Jet Li was just so great in "The Forbidden Kingdom"...dude's entirely overrated, IMO. As for "fatboy" Rogen...maybe it's just that I myself am so much fatter, but I really don't see it. He's not skinny by any means, but nothing that either couldn't be worked off or hidden with a girdle. Worked for Riker for most of Star Trek TNG after all. And for those of you worried about his transition from comedy to action...well, what did YOU all think when you heard that Beetlejuice was playing Batman?

I am also puzzled as to how "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" got an A- here and "Iron Man" only got a B. I don't usually TRY to nitpick every movie I see, but this is INDIANA JONES. So sorry to disappoint all you EQUALLY whiny people out there that are telling those of us that weren't blown away to stop whining, but the cheesy parts were just too cheesy for me to enjoy the movie as a whole.
I was somehow able to forgive the nuclear opening, but I have to agree with the rest of my fellow whiners that the vine scene was just ridiculous. For me it wasn't the fact that Mutt was swinging from vines, but that 1.) the thought didn't occur to him until he saw monkeys doing it, and 2.) that when he got EXACTLY where he wanted to be (back in the action with the chase scene) all of his loyal monkey minions attacked the evil commies.
While I'm on the chase scene...okay, I guess it wasn't exciting enough that Mutt was sword fighting the Russian bitch while straddling both Jeeps...let's see, what can we add to bolster excitement? I know, let's have him get in the balls by some plants! Yeah, that'll be GREAT! NOTHING spices up a perfectly good and exciting chase scene/sword fight like some classic testicular humor.
I'm also pissed off that I wasn't wowed by Cate Blanchett like I have been in every other movie I've seen her in. I got the distinct impression throughout the movie that she was reading cue cards...it was like Kevin Spacey as Lex Luthor all over again.
Don't get me wrong, if this movie had been anything else OTHER than an Indiana Jones movie, I might have enjoyed it for what it was. For example, had it been another "Mummy" or another "Tomb Raider", I probably wouldn't scrutinize it so much. But don't get on my case for whining after I waited nineteen years for another Indiana Jones movie, and they deliver a movie that is only on par with "Temple of Doom." At least "Temple" is sandwiched between two GOOD movies. "Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" was "Phantom Menace" all over again.
Top Maniacal Rumors: Pitt Wielding a Mighty Hammer? - May 16, 2008 - 10:18am
Last I heard, the whole story for the "Thor" movie was going to take place in Asgard, not on Earth at all. Has that changed? If not, then there's no reason to bring Dr. Blake into the equation. Anyway, I know Thor is beefy in comics, but I never thought he was Hulk big.
