CLONE WARS Preview - Jun 04, 2007 - 01:22pm
metalwater, I couldn't agree more. I have to admit first off that I've enjoyed the prequels to some degree, in the the sense that I've always wanted to know just HOW things came about. I think that Episodes 2 & 3 did that to the satisfaction of most people, despite the whiny Anakin dialog. Still, there was something...missing about the whole series of prequels. The depth of the story was left lacking by stiff and overacted scenes by Ewan Mcgreggor and lack of acting ability by whoever it was that played Anakin and completely overshadowed by the animation and attempts at comedy that were inane. They could have been so much more memorable, but instead have become more of a toy factory than any of the original trilogy. It seems to me that Lucas, with all of his money and mighty ILM magic, tried to paint a story that was TOO broad and didn't focus on the plot. That is a true shame.
Speaking from a hopeful fan's viewpoint, I'd much rather see more Star Wars universe on TV. Don't start screaming at me just yet fellow maniacs. If you think about the level of sophistication that is available for a serial tv show or even a periodic mini-series on a major cable network, like-but-not-limited-to Sci-Fi channel, the possibilities are endless. Let's get some writers with passion that are willing to devote some keyboard time to the kind of action and story that fans demand. Let's let Lucas know that we're ready for LIVE ACTION Star Wars on every week. If shows like Star Gate SG1 and Atlantis, Star Trek, Battle Star Galactica, etc. can have an audience, then I believe whole heartedly that Star Wars can thrive there two. NO animated crap! True, it does offer a view into the universes that may not be able to be brought to life, but it's not what fans are truely craving (in my humble opinion).
Does anyone have George Lucas' phone number?
Indiana Jones and The Kingdom of Crystal Skull - Jun 04, 2007 - 12:59pm
I have to agree with popa. Harrison Ford's character will have aged a good bit, but his whit and intellect will have aged right along with the rest of him. Someday, when us young-uns are old and grey, there maybe more Indy stories to tell with a new actor. But as long as Ford is alive, there will be a huge fan base to watch him fight the forces of evil...even if it's depends.
Terminator Salvation - Jun 04, 2007 - 12:49pm
Bring it on! I love the Terminator universe and have been waiting to see more of the bleak future and what happens after the fall of Skynet, and all of the in-between stuff that has only been alluded to in the other movies. Let's see how the surviving humans learn to fight back and they have to go through in their struggle for existence.
That being said, let's see some more of the Colonial Marines from Aliens. That movie ROCKED! James Cameron has a fantastic eye for character and action. I wish he'd get back into Terminator or Aliens.
