Schwarzenegger Talks Terminator: Genesis (Article) - 3/3/2014 9:09:45 PM

I mean, I'm excited about the movie (always ready for another Terminator), but he didn't really say much.  Nothing too exciting here.

Mania Review: Stalingrad (Article) - 3/3/2014 11:35:09 AM

It was good, but not nearly as much action as I was expecting.  There were several parts that I found rather cheesy, especially when dudes would just start screaming in slow motion as they fired off a full clip from their automatics and machine guns.  It was literally every single gun fight scene.  And for a movie that's called "Stalingrad" I expected longer and more intense action sequences and battle scenes.  It was mostly just a story of the guys holed up in the building and coming together and taking in the girl as kind of a little sister, or a daughter in a couple of their cases.  And of course the German officer falling in love with the Russian girl and how she was shunned because she was boinking a Nazi.  The IMAX was incredible, especially the opening scene with the exploding fuel tanks and dudes running through the flames and catching on fire and charging the German machine gun emplacements.  But I agree that the 3D was unnecessary with the exception of a few parts; the part with the plane being shot down and crashing on the roof was pretty impressive.  But yeah, it seemed superfluous for the most part.

Overall I think I'd agree with the B grade.  I'd maybe give it more of a B- just because of the several cheeseball parts and the fact that I think a movie that's supposed to be about the bloodiest battle in human history should have more action and better battle scenes.

Ok, awesome.  I'm headed out to see it now.

So wait, is it not subtitled?  He says it's all in Russian and German, which I expected of course, but he makes it sound like I'm not gonna be able to understand one iota of the dialogue.

I might go see it tonight.  Got a drug test for a new job in the morning and it'll keep me away from the bars and outta trouble.  Lol!

But seriously, I saw the poster at the theater a couple weeks ago and immediately wanted to see it.  I'm a big military/war history buff, especially WWII, so this is a must-see for me.  My TV is tuned to Military Channel or Military History half the time that I have it on.

The Birds Remake Coming from Michael Bay (Article) - 3/2/2014 10:09:57 AM

They also had Indiana Jones, Spider-Man (Tobey Maguire's), Superman IV costume, Dark Knight, The Matrix, and one of my faves was Uma Thurman's yellow jumpsuit from Kill Bill.  It was one of my favorites because of the shoes.  On bottom of the soles was stamped "FUCK U," so it would make a print in the dirt or whatever.  Something I don't think you see in the movie.  I thought it was hilarious.  I started cracking up when I saw it and had to point it out to my mom.

Now, addressing the story.  Whatever.  I guess it was bound to happen, but I wasn't expecting Michael Bay to tackle it.  At least it looks like he's not directing.  That's one speck of hope right there.

On a side note, I saw the Hollywood costume exhibit when it was here in Richmond.  Very cool, and they had Tippi Hedren's costume from The Birds in a little part of the exhibit that talked about Hitchcock.

Whoa whoa whoa, rkngl.  Tap the brakes, back the truck up.  Don't you dare say that that Colin Ferrell lump of steaming cow pattie was better than the original Total Recall.  Hush your mouth, just hush your mouth!  There's a reason why the original is an 84% on RT and the Colin Ferrell crapfest is 30%.  Not saying I always agree with the critics, but, again, there's a reason for such a big discrepancy.

But alas, to each his own.  I just think Paul Verhoeven is arguably one of the greatest directors of his generation.  Very overlooked because of the type of movies he makes, I guess.

More Matrix Movies?! (Article) - 3/2/2014 9:52:32 AM

Dammitall!  I just typed up like an entire book on my opinion and it got lost when I tried to post it!  Oh well, I'll get around to re-doing it, but I'm kinda spent right now.  It'll have to wait.

Episode VII Cast Update: Adam Driver? (Article) - 2/26/2014 10:48:29 PM

Shave his head, slap a fuck ton of makeup on him, and alter his voice and I could see him as a Sith lord.  Though I have no idea who the hell he is...

<shouting into the hall behind me> Jeeves!  Can you please tell me who the hell this dude is?
