Doctor Sleep Trailer (Article) - 6/23/2013 8:56:55 PM

I read mostly thrillers, political thrillers, espionage stories and such; both fiction and non-fiction.  Stories about military, combat, spies, that sort of thing.  Tom Clancy is my favorite and recently I've gotten into Vince Flynn and Brad Thor.  I never really got into King or any of the other horror novelists, which is interesting since I love horror movies.  This one sounds intriguing.  Might have to pick it up.  Hopefully it'll be offered in a Kindle version.

Jurassic Park 4 Plot Details (Article) - 6/23/2013 6:27:54 PM

I've said it before, I won't believe it til I'm actually sitting in the theater and see the title screen...

As for that "mystery dinosaur" causing all the havok, I'd love to see the Allosaurus.  Badest of all the badasses back in the day, yo.

The Rock for Terminator 5? (Article) - 6/23/2013 6:19:56 PM

Yeah, I just don't know.  Obviously I'll watch whatever they decide to put out (at this point I think the suits have figured that out with this franchise), but another time travel back to the '40s/'50s to terminate Sarah's parents?  Doesn't seem very original.  I would be a lot more ok with that idea if they did kind of two stories in one movie where it goes back and forth between what's happening in the '40s/'50s and what's going on with the war in the "future."  Just pick up where Salvation left off and incorporate what's going on in the past and tie it all together.  Maybe show what happens when someone in the future gets killed in the past and like disappears in a puff of dust or something.  Or maybe some like flashbacks kinda.  Or something.

Everyone get all that?

And, wildwestie, I think you're right about the truck.  LexCorp was certainly on the tanker truck though during that final battle.  Couldn't really miss it as it's coming right at you.

I mentioned something in a previous comment the night I saw it.  Did anyone else think that scene where he was walking up to the house after saving the oil rig guys was a nod to Hulk?  I know Hulk is part of Marvel, but with all the different Easter egg...He comes walking up with no shirt on, ripped pants, and looking for new clothes on a clothes line.  I dunno, maybe it was inadvertant and/or I'm just reading too much into it, but it certainly jumped out at me immediately.  Just wondering if anyone else caught it.

Schwarzenegger for Zombie Film? (Article) - 6/23/2013 5:30:21 PM

Well, obviously I'll check it out.  Like Wise said, it's Arnie, and I'm a huge Arnie fan...Which is why I'm afraid to watch The Last Stand.  I really wanna watch it, but I'm afraid.  I heard it's pretty bad.

Schwarzenegger for Zombie Film? (Article) - 6/23/2013 11:16:43 AM

The premise sounds kinda lame.  And haven't we had enough zombie movies recently?

And you're right.  I've complained some in the past about movies maybe not being loyal enough to the source material.  BUT, it's never caused me to hate or dislike a movie.  Or at least it's never been the sole reason. Take The Hunt for Red October for instance.  Wasn't completely accurate when compared to the book, but I loved the movie.

Wise, I wasn't only refering to people on this comment board.  I was just making a generalized statement.  I've read complaints on other sites and articles and also heard it from a couple people firsthand too.  But there have been a couple people on here who have complained because the movie strayed too far from source material.  Again, it was a generalized statement and wasn't aimed solely at people on Mania.

I just feel sorry for people who are taking this WAY too seriously.  It's a movie.  It's a movie BASED ON a comic book character.  It's not the comic book.  Again, if you want the comic books then READ the comic books.  Don't bother watching the movies.  I'm an avid reader of novels and I've seen several of the novels I've read get made into movies.  Every single one of those movies is different from the book.  I don't cry about it though.  I enjoy it for what it is.  I understand that what's on paper can never be completely and accurately translated to film.  That's the whole point of reading the book!  Why should comics be any different?  Perhaps it's just pretentiousness, which is what some of you often accuse movie critics of being...

This is one of those situations where I am so damn glad that I don't read comic books so that I can just enjoy the movie for what it is.  A MOVIE!  And it was grand...
