Keith......just checked out your vids! Your nephew is too cute! Nice vid!
Depp looks so stupid, and so his character ALONE is reason enough for me to stay clear of this poodoo pile!!!
I am one who actually likes this movie, a LOT! It's fun. It's got great visuals....the Cygnus is one beautiful ship....and John Barry's score is terrific! Sure the science is far fetched, knowing what we THINK we know about Black Holes. I personally do not think they are holes at all. But, like Neutron Stars, they are Super Dense Matter, probably the size of a city block, spinning at tremendous speeds and if you could get past all the radiation and tidal forces, you would eventually "bump" into an object, not fall down a hole.
The whole "hole" notion never sat well with me. I never liked that we went from a Neutron Star, one of the most dense objects in space, to a "hole". Sorry, I don't buy it. A "Dark Star" is more appropriate for what "black holes" really are.
Wrrlykam, agreed. Like so many things in todays world, we are moving towards less substance, more flash. LucasArts in their heyday were kings of the Adventure Game, a genre that is sadly pretty much dead, except for a few Indie games, and the oocastional AAA Title that pops up. Games today rely on flash, graphics, and very little story......much like todays movies. So sad indeed.
Despite all the bad press Tom gets about his weird personal life, he IS one hell of an awesome actor! I LOVE Minority Report, and also movies like The Last Samurai, and Tom's acting is always top notch! This one has me excited to see it, and I will be there opening day!!!
Incredible episode.....can't wait for Season 4!!!
Absolutely LOVED the book......but I don't see how this can be done, without the general audience laughing like little school girls with the dialogue coming from such young children. It works in a novel, because one doesn't have to rely on "acting" from real people. And , if they bump up the age, then it's not really "Ender's Game" and would have less of an impact than the book. That's what made the book so damned good.
Oh well. I know this happens with a lot of book to movie translations. Not many books can be a faithful to the source material as say, Quest for Fire! LOL!!!!
Speaking of Quest for Fire, DAMN, that is one BAD ASS movie! I saw it in the theaters, and came out of there with a whole new look on Humans. ;-p
As much as I enjoyed ID4, I just don't think a sequel is either necessary or plauible. We had to suspend disbelief rather drastically with the original, and I can only imagine the sequels. I mean, the aliens are WAY smarter than us to be able to travel the stars, and I think they would be hard pressed to make the same mistakes again. This time, they'd just wipe us out completely with their own Biological (instead of technological) Virus, and then just have their way with the planet. Besides, how many major cities are even left to "fire bomb" with their heat lasers?
This one looks good. Despite the negative press about Tom's personal life, I am still a big fan of his movies. One of my favorites is Minority Report. Tom was brilliant in that! He's one hell of an Actor, and I hope this movie is as amazing as Minority Report.
I agree Ole Wise One, I too want to go in as fresh as possible!

Wise, Diane Lane ain't bad lookin' either!! Even looking like she does in that pic, she's one sexy woman!!
