Personally I'm excited to see a fresh aproach to Star Wars. The Clone Wars TV series has shown that the whole Star Wars Universe has MANY MANY stories that can be expanded upon and with them going in the direction of AFTER RoTJ, we have SO many possibilites for new characters, new plots, new adventures than being confined to what the Prequels gave us.
JJ Abrams directing it means nothing unless the STORY is crappy, and the PLOT is trashed simply for FX and the Star Wars name. We have NO IDEA yet what will transpire, so to jump all over Abrams at this VERY VERY early stage is so silly.
I still would like the see them use the story arc from Vector Prime and the subsequent books involving The Yuuzhan Vong. The entire series was BAD ASS to the MAX and we could even have Luke, Leah and Han as the OLDER CHARACTERS they are without it feeling wrong, since the actors are OLD! They could even minimize their roles, and bring in the Solo children, the Jedi Acadamy, and so forth, and expand on the NEW heroes of The Republic!
KD, we all have our opinions, but what I was referencing was that any time JJ's Star Trek is brought up, the haters hate. It's like what you told me you hate seeing from me: Whenever Chris Nolan's Batman is talked about, I go all Hate Monger on The Dark Knight every time. You said it was pointless for me to keep repeating what all you already know about how I feel about The Dark Knight.
THAT is what I am trying to get across here: All the JJ Star Trek Haters have posted enough about WHY they hate it and we've seen it all before. No need to continue with the same ole rhetoric again!
To all the Abrams Star Trek haters....get over it. Star Trek was REBORN from the dying embers that were the last two TNG movies and horrible Enterprise TV show. So what Abrams did, even if not perfect, brough life back into a DEAD FRANCHISE, at that time. I have friends who HATED Star Trek, but now dig it thanks to this film! It spurred their interest in the "other" Star Trek's and now they enjoy them. Says a LOT for such a "crappy" film, huh????
I'm all for this!!! Yessss!!! There's NO WAY Episodes VII VIII and IX could be worse than I or II. They should be AT LEAST as good as III since ole George "I can't direct actors" Lucas isn't doing them!
Bring it ON!!!!!
Can't believe Renner stooped this low for a movie!
Ole Wise One, are you thinking with the right head??? LOL!!!!
I'm a long time Trekkie/Trekker and I really enjoyed JJ's Star Trek! am SO psyched about this sequel! I can't wait!
Wish: I agree wholeheartedly with your observations!
Uh, no. Enough already! Can we say MILKING THE FRANCHISE????
I'm there for sure! Can't wait!!!!!

Axia777....that IS sad news! The EU Books had so many great stories. Oh well. Lets hope the story arc they do come up with is AT LEAST as exciting as the Original Trilogy!
