The Winter of '84: Runaway (Article) - 12/17/2014 9:24:20 AM

I am sorry, but there is no way this movie is worse than 2010, which came out in the same time frame.  A lot of people remember this fondly, while almost no one remembers 2010.

The Fall of '84: Supergirl (Article) - 11/24/2014 6:29:08 AM

Are we ignoring Elektra?  While a spin-off of Daredevil, that is also a female-led film.

And Buffy the Vampire Slayer is arguably the most successful super-heroine on the screen.  Though it only broke out in the TV show.

The Fall of '84: Night of the Comet (Article) - 11/18/2014 10:32:13 AM

Catherine Mary Stewart was the wholesome B-movie Queen of the 80s.

The Fall of '84: Missing in Action (Article) - 11/17/2014 1:21:26 PM

Most of us who grew up in the 80's knew people who had been affected by Vietnam, it is saddening that it took years after the end of the war for the dialouge to really be started on the condition of our vets.

And it is a dialogue that we are not having about Iraq/Afganistan.  With Vietnam there was a draft, so you had people affected from all walks of life.  The latest conflicts have only drawn people from very specific social classes so it is easier for us to ignore them.

Book Review: The Slow Regard of Silent Things (Article) - 11/11/2014 6:35:00 PM

This review is really positive sounding for a B- score.  Are you just reflecting Rothfuss's "not for newbies" comment?

The Fall of '84: The Terminator (Article) - 10/27/2014 11:49:18 AM

In a comparison of low budget films:

While it would come out a year later, Reanimator was filmed right next door to this movie and borrowed some of the cast and crew.  Schwarzenegger's stunt double is the door-stomping zombie in the morgue.

Mania Review: Ouija (Article) - 10/24/2014 8:12:54 AM

So is it better than, worse than, or the same as Witchboard?

Predestination Official International Trailer #2 (Article) - 10/22/2014 8:44:22 PM

based on the short story “All You Zombies”

What??  There are no temporal agents in that story. Except for presence the time travel, this isn't even remotely close to that story.  Are we claiming all time travel movies are based on "All You Zombies"?

If Ethan Hawk has a sex change and goes back and time to have sex with himself, and then give birth to himself, then we can say it was based on the Heinlein story.

Doctor Who: Flatline Review (Article) - 10/19/2014 7:45:23 PM

The last two were written by the same writer.  Mathieson clearly needs to get invited to write more.

31 Days of Horror: Suspiria (Article) - 10/14/2014 4:21:38 PM

The Goblin soundtrack for this film is awesome.  One of the best horror soundtracks ever.
