31 Days of Horror: Suspiria (Article) - 10/14/2014 4:21:38 PM

The Goblin soundtrack for this film is awesome.  One of the best horror soundtracks ever.

Book Review: The 100 Greatest Console Video Games 1977 - 1987 (Article) - 10/9/2014 10:08:25 AM

They do this all the time.  Midway creates emulators complete with their greatest hits. These are available on various platforms (PC, mobile, etc.)

The biggest problem is the rights.  For some of these games, it is unclear who owns the IP, and so it is impossible to sell them on a new platform.

The Strain: The Master Review (Article) - 10/6/2014 2:00:54 PM

While it is Eph's story, it is not exactly as the books are written.  Yes, the scenes are all there, but the order has been completely screwed up.  And for this show, that matters.  The reason the first book succeeded was because of the tension build-up and release of the story.  Reordering the story looses all that.

For example, the first half of the book is a mystery.  The characters are trying to figure things out.  All of the mysteries were revealed in the pilot.  So the mystery is lost.  But then they did not add anything else.

Doctor Who: The Caretaker Review (Article) - 9/28/2014 8:58:21 PM

When he was with UNIT he would mercilessly mock them for "solving problems with shooting."  His friendship with Brigadier is in spite of UNIT, not because of it.

The Strain: The Third Rail Review (Article) - 9/23/2014 10:11:13 AM

The "I wish Eph would die" feeling is something that continues throughout the entire book series.  He starts out the first book as a moderately competent character, but because more and more useless as the series progresses.

In the book, Vasily is a much more likeable and competent character, though they seem to have made him into a bit of a psychopath in the show.

Mania Review: The Maze Runner (Article) - 9/20/2014 11:14:53 PM

This movie stuck me as a "Young Adult Cube." And it would have been okay if it had an unresolved ending like Cube does.  However, the info-dump in the last few minutes of the film really derails the film.

The Fall of '84: The Warrior and the Sorceress (Article) - 9/9/2014 5:25:12 AM

Is everyone else getting the nipple cover-up ads for this article?

Doctor Who: Into the Dalek Review (Article) - 9/1/2014 7:05:32 AM

I am convinced that Missy in Heaven is the TARDIS (as in Gaiman's episode The Doctor's Wife).  The TARDIS would have enough power to save these people, and the "boyfriend" comment from the first episode would fit.

The Summer of '84: Sheena (Article) - 8/19/2014 6:08:58 AM

This movie proves that Tanya Roberts was typecasted into her role in that 70s Show.

Dungeons & Dragons 5th Edition Player's Handbook Review (Article) - 8/15/2014 2:33:51 PM

I can understand complaints about 3.x being rules heavy.  There are strong arguments for a narrative system like 1e.  It is not better than 3.x, just different.

But there are no arguments for 2e.  2e is a rules-heavy system with poor game balance made by the mathematically illiterate.  Every time a game designer makes a new 2e kit, God kills a kitten.
