ABC Kills V Episodes Online, Ratings Hit New Low

A double whammy for fans of the science fiction series

Fans of the series V are continuing to find that it's going to be a really hard haul for the show on a couple of fronts. With the second season getting underway and being just half a season, not getting a full commitment up front with only ten episodes starting in the doldrums of January, it didn't inspire a whole lot of faith. The second episode of the season, "Serpent's Tooth," has also given the series its second lowest ratings overall since it began in the first season.  This episode got just a 3.3/5 rating which matched "No ORdinary Family" which itself hit it's all time low, deservedly so with what many consider its worst episode yet.  V had an 18 percent loss from its season premiere last week and overall is now averaging a 40 percent smaller audience than ABC averaged in the timeslot a year ago.

Want to see how things could be worse for V fans? With a growing number of people looking to online episodes as they cut the TV cord, or just hoping to catch an episode they missed because of, you know, massive storms across the country that cut power or delayed travel, ABC is no longer providing episode only on its site or via Hulu. The company has produced only a single statement regarding it:

Fellow V fans,

It is with much regret that we must inform you that full episodes of V will not be available on or Hulu for Season 2. Just like you, we truly wish full episodes were playing here. But we also hope our detailed recaps will keep you informed and entertained should you ever miss an episode.

Best always,

The Team

This is bull crap! ABC how am I supposed to watch this when I have stuff to do on Tuesday nights. Thnak you for ruining yet another great show. Now I have to figure out how to watch them online without downloading them.

Jakester 1/13/2011 5:00:29 AM

I had to stop halfway through this week's episode.  Why do the aliens refer to themselves as "V's?"  Presuming the existence of a soul in the first place, how would it be possible for aliens to "grow" them just like human skin, as it is implied that they have a soul as a consequence of living in human skin.  Stupid.

LocoLobo73 1/13/2011 6:16:24 AM

yeah I think the show has already jumped the shark , they are going to destroy the human soul , yeah ok , WTF are they doing, please abc put this show out its misery or just show entire episode of  Vanderhoot undressed, that would work.

Jakester 1/13/2011 6:24:52 AM

Vandervoort and Baccarin would be why I watch the show.

That boy is a total douche and he's putting the bone to Supergirl?!  PLEASE!

Wiseguy 1/13/2011 11:59:24 AM

Mayhem get yourself a tivo and problem solved.

ABC is just trying to bolster its ratings so I have no problem if networks decide to pull this move. They pretty much rely solely on ratings for advertisement dollars, unlike cable networks that get subscribers fees.

redeem4god 1/15/2011 1:00:59 PM

Look, Yes @Mayhem you could TiVo it but why? This is not a great show it's complete utter CRAP! @Wiseguy: these networks get revenue from advertisers on their website, from advertisers on their network station and from contract negotiations from hulu. Its' not free for hulu to to air this stuff on their websites or else Hulu's library would me much larger. why else do you think they are limited to a handful of episodes.

For crying out loud is everyone a moron and does anyone else do their research. stop assuming. This is simply a ploy, a move to FORCE  up ratings by only having one median in which to find the source. ABC is hoping that if you can only watch it on their network it will increase ratins failing to see the bigger picture that ratings aren't falling because viewers are going elsewhere to watch. Viewers aren't watching because it SUCKS!! plain and simple. You couldn't pay me to download this for free via bit torrent. it really is that bad and to think they stopped flashforward over THIS!!

Chris, from all understanding it is not ABC's fault. Apparently, Warner Brothers is not allowing ABC to put them online which I think is a huge mistake. The uproar has been tremendous.  We need help saving this show!!!!!

oh and to add insult to injury I have found that the last 3 episodes I have tried to record on my DVR womthing screwwy (technical term) was happening. It records the 1st 3 mins or soo then the picture freezes and then its the last couple of minutes. Its not just my unit either, I have confirmed this with several friends and with Verizon tech support. ABC is purposfully interfering with the signal so that you CANT record the episodes atleast not on a DVR. Not sure about Tivo's but since they work on the same way then its most likely.

So guess its time to break out my old VCR! ..hope I can remember how it works...crap! hope I can find some VCR tapes!!!

This is just bullshit! And ABC, I HOLD YOU COMPLETELY TO BLAME! And truth be told, all the networks are operating the same assinine way. When I was a kid things were different. A new series was given ONE time slot, not bounced around, pre-empted and especially not run four eps at a time and then 4 weeks of reruns, It ran straight thru , in the same spot, which allowed for viewership and continuity. In the Summer, the same series ran again, so the eps missed could be seen, and ARE YOU LISTENING NETWORKS, veiwership could and did increase! I must admit ABC has pissed me off for some time now, series I liked have been cancelled before a good chance was given for them to catch on. Anyone remember 'Sports Nite", great cast and excellent writing, but no, ABC didn't get instantaneous ratings success, so shitcan it! I am so surprised Castle has lasted! Detroit 1-8-7 will be shitcanned, and that is sad, cause given time, it could hold the mantle that NYPD blue held. We live in a busy world, and I guess the network execs are too busy Yachting and jetsetting to understand that shit happens in the day to day world that may prevent our butts being glued into place every week at the same Bat time! I hate to see V killed, we got Old Diana, and Marc Singer, I was waiting for Julie to show, Maybe as the FBI chicks Mom, but I guess that won't happen. and now we can't get any closure, what a crock! ABC you suck! Was that too negative? Or not enough, I wonder?
