ABC Takes Stephen King TV Series

Network taking on THE KINGDOM series for fall 2002 season.

ABC has chosen to pick up 15 episodes of THE KINGDOM, a supernatural dramatic TV series that will be executive produced by Stephen King. Based on the 1994 Lars von Trier created Danish TV miniseries, the program to come will focus on a haunted hospital that sits on top of an ancient cemetery. The doctors there refuse to accept that anything unexplainable going on in the hospital, including a ghost ambulance that arrives at the hosptital's ER every evening.

King will write the initial 15 stories, which is being created for the 2002-2003 season, with word that he will leave the finale in the 15th episode open for further storylines.
