Known as "the merc with a mouth," Deadpool is a wisecracking killer-for-hire with a healing factor and a penchant for sharp objects. He's a product of the Weapon X program and has been portrayed as a villain and an anti-hero who breaks the fourth wall as often as he breaks bad guys' heads.
Cursed with an abusive ubringing and terminal cancer, Wade Wilson joined the Weapon X program and was granted a regenerative healing factor extracted from Wolverine. His cancer was cured but Deadpool was left disfigured and mentally unbalanced.
Wade Wilson was the son of an abusive and alcoholic father. As a result, he turned to juvenile delinquency. When Wade's father was killed in a bar fight by one of Wade's friends, he dropped out of school and had a brief stint in the military before becoming a mercenary. Wade made habits of only accepting jobs in which he felt the intended victim deserved death and of undergoing plastic surgery to take on a new identity when a mission failed. Eventually contracting cancer, Wilson became a test subject for the Canadian government's Weapon X program. His cancer was halted due to the implantation of a healing factor taken from fellow Weapon X agent Wolverine. Wilson was subjected to a battery of tests and horrific torture, eventually emerging scarred and unstable. He resumed his mercenary activities only to eventually return to, and once again leave the service of the Canadian government.
Deadpool possesses a superhuman healing factor that works in direct proportion to the extent of the injury he receives. This power has allowed him to regrow limbs and vital organs and makes him immune to most poisons and drugs. An added result of this ability is that Deadpool's muscles are far more resistant to fatigue than the average human, giving him increased stamina. In addition, his reflexes and agility are superior to even the most highly trained human athlete. He is an expert in hand-to-hand combat and a master marksman. Deadpool is also skilled in the use of bladed weapons and is fluent in German, Spanish and Japanese.
Deadpool uses whatever weapons the current assignment calls for, most often utilizing a combination of blades and guns. He is also in possession of a teleportation device and a holographic image inducer that can disguise his identity.
