He's starting to do that Sam Raimi/Steven Spielberg/Bryan Singer thing of attaching themselves to every project coming down the pipeline, then not following through on anything.

Already knee-deep into his very busy theatrical schedule it looks like J.J. Abrams could be returning to direct the pilot for a new TV series. HR reports that Abrams is taking a hands-on approach to his Warner Bros. pilot, "Undercovers." He'll executive produce the possible NBC series and is in talks to direct the opening episode. If he does, it will be his first since the 2004 opener of "Lost."
While the announcement doesn't come with a plot concept, the new pilot has been described as a mix between "Mr. & Mrs. Smith" and "The Bourne Identity."

A cross between Mr. & Mrs. Smith and Bourne Identity? Other than an assasin angle, what does that really mean? I'm going to go with married agents on the run from the CIA. Abrams can definitely run wih that. Casting could be important here...
I'm a fan of JJ's but I'll have to wait for more info in order to become interested
