Trailer for New World of Warcraft Expansion - Aug 22, 2008 - 09:52am
Why bother with live action when they can do such amazing things with CGI? I can't wait for both the expansion and the movie. I have 100% faith in Blizzard.
Vader's Secret Apprentice in SOUL CALIBUR IV? - Jun 09, 2008 - 09:48am
Ummm... can somebody explain how Darth Vader can have an apprentice? That's just not something that can happen. There's always one Sith Lord and one Apprentice. Once the Emporer was killed, Darth Vader ceased being an Apprentice, and then he immediately died, so there was no time for him to have an apprentice. This is ignoring the fact that, hello! He's turned back to the good side in his waning moments. This is crazy. And stupid.
Disney CEO Faults Release Date for CASPIAN - May 29, 2008 - 09:01am
Hmmm... maybe it's because the first film was utter crap and people don't want to see the sequel. I even went into the first one with low expectations, and I STILL didn't enjoy it. It was a very "meh" movie.
INDIANA JONES AND THE KINGDOM OF THE CRYSTAL SKULL - May 22, 2008 - 08:41am
archbeam, you make an excellent point about the characters in Star Wars, and I 100% agree with Yoda - he counts BIG time! There are even more characters in the prequels that were also in the original trilogy. Obi Wan, Luke and Leia (as infants, and briefly, but they're there!), Boba Fett, and a small someone called THE EMPEROR! There were a TON of characters from the original trilogy that showed up in the prequels. Scott Mantz lost a huge chunk of respectability with that comment. Tsk tsk!
More on HULK and Norton Rumors - Apr 17, 2008 - 09:28am
If we learned nothing else from Lord of the Rings, we learned that the length of the movie does not detract from sales, as long as the movie is GOOD! If it takes 2:15 to tell the new story of The Incredible Hulk, let it be 2:15. Knocking it under two hours won't change anything in the box office returns, unless the trimmed 15 minutes makes the movie feel rushed. Trust Norton - he's a true fan of the Hulk. Let him tell the story!
First Look at Pixar's UP - Jan 28, 2008 - 09:14am
trazalca, I couldn't possibly agree with you more. Pixar has my interest and support no matter what medium they choose to use for their movies. It wouldn't bother me at all if this was 2D. As cool as 3D is, the WOW factor isn't quite what it used to be. That's not a bad thing to me. It's all about story for me.
Top 6 Reasons 2008 Could be the Year of PS3 - Jan 15, 2008 - 09:43am
Yeah, some of you XBOX lovers are starting to feel the pain now, eh? Your biggest argument when the PS3 came out was how expensive it is. Now that Sony has significantly chopped the price, you're grasping at flimsy straws. The specs on the PS3 are much better than the XBOX 360. Once developers tap into the power of the system, it'll blow the 360 away. In my opinion it already does. You 360 'heroes' have lost the cost war too. Building your 360 to match the specs of the PS3 makes your beloved system cost DOUBLE the cost of the PS3. 2008 will be a great year for the PS3. I'm excited about it.
Oh, and whoever it was gloating about the Blu Ray player vs downloadable content on your 360. THAT is a moot (yeah, moot, not "mute") point. In five years, the NEXT next gen systems will be coming soon, so it's irrelevant what format is being used in what system. I'm sure I'll still be playing Blu Ray movies in my PS3 past that point, and I'll have some new DVR out there to store downloaded movies on it. I'll worry about that when the time comes.
Go Sony!
HD-DVD Backers Switching to Blu-Ray? - Jan 10, 2008 - 10:01am
Not to say I told you so, but... well, I told you so. Aside from the fact that the Blu Ray player is built into the Playstation 3, I believe the format is superior to HD-DVD. The quality of the video is similar in quality, at least from what I've seen, but the fact that the Blu Ray discs hold so much more data is HUGE. Yeah, yeah, yeah, HD-DVDs are going to be made with more capacity, blah blah, blah, but do you really think Blu Ray isn't going to do the very same thing? Duh. This war was over before it even started. Go Blu Ray!
HEROES & CLOVERFIELD Cross Over - Nov 21, 2007 - 02:18pm
How the heck can you make ANYTHING out in that clip? I don't see anything that resembles part of a body of anything. I get that I'm supposed to turn my head to see something, but for the life of me, I can't tell what's happening! Where's Waldo?!?
HEROES: Four Months Ago - Nov 14, 2007 - 12:23pm
I'm still waiting to find out how they're going to explain how Peter's going to get his scar. With the healing power, he CAN'T get a scar. Unless he loses his powers at some point, gets hurt, then the scar settles in before he gets his powers back. I dunno how they could make it work, though.
Four Cast in STEPFATHER Thriller - Nov 12, 2007 - 11:10am
Ha! I have fond memories of this movie. Not only is it a very good thriller, but my brother and I, devious little bastards we were, were in charge of renting a movie one night while we were preparing wedding favors for my mom's remarriage (we were in our late teens). This was our movie of choice. We had seen it already and thought it would make fine entertainment for the evening. We thought it was hilarious. Not everyone felt the same.
LOST Cut in Half & Related WGA News - Nov 06, 2007 - 11:40am
LOSt isn't the onyl show that the strike is going to affect. Once the smoke clears and all the papers have been signed, things will get back to normal (for viewers anyway). Just be patient, and we'll get our shows back. From our perspective, the strike sucks because we're not affected by the crap behind the scenes that the writers have to deal with. Yeah, it sucks, but I understand why it's happening. We'll eventually get our LOST episodes - just be patient and watch movies until they're back.
Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 04:38pm
Phantom and Whiskey, I agree with you guys 100%. Sometimes I have a hard time holding back when I hear people say stupid things. I'm done with this nonsense. Bring on the Hulk!
Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 01:33pm
gauleyboy420, you're not helping yourself by spouting off like that. I don't feel like I have to defend myself to you. I'm just trying to lend another perspective to the discussion. How in the world can what I said be called 'hate mongering'? That's ridiculous! Grow up.
Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 11:14am
Oh, and this whole "this is gay" discussion is just gay. Come on, do you see people freaking out when kids sing Ring Around the Rosie because they're being disrespectful of people who had ancesters who suffered from the Black Plague? It wasn't used in a negative context, so get over it. Heck, I have a friend who's gay, and he doesn't take offense to that phrase. He even USES it for crying out loud! Don't be so sensitive!
Burrell is Doc Samson in INCREDIBLE HULK - Oct 23, 2007 - 11:11am
There's no way they're going to waste CGI budgeting dollars on Doc. He may get the long green hair, and some slight post-production enhancement in size (a la the shrinkage for the Hobbits in LOTR), but they're use life-size Currell for the part - pre and post gamma enhancement. Count on him doing some quick buffing up in the gym before filming, though.
Original Team Reunite For TRANSFORMERS 2 - Oct 04, 2007 - 12:27pm
I'm with the majority here. As a whole, I enjoyed the movie, but the Sector 7 crap, especially John Turturro, who overracted more than anybody I've ever seen, was just sucky and out of place. I don't recall the details of the cop scene, but after hearing some comments, I do recall feeling it was a bit... weird. As a whole, I wish they would stop dropping so many over-the-top attempts at humor in the big budget summer movies. It's just not necessary, and it does NOT "balance out" the movie. It pulls the audience out when the comedy bits are trying too hard, which they were in this movie - very similar to the humor in Independence Day, which would have been a much better movie without the stupid humor (IIIIII"M BAAAAACK! - good lord that was an awful moment). Stick with the theme and keep things from getting campy and the movies will turn out much more balanced. One example where a small laugh worked was when they turned the cell phone into a robot in the glass cage and it wigged out with its tiny guns blazing. THAT was OK, although I dont' know why they made it so all the robots that were created by the cube thing were all evil (i.e. the evil nasty soda machine). Some should have been good, like the Autobots.
Still, having said all that, I enjoyed it overall.
Lou Ferrigno in HULK & More Set Photos - Sep 17, 2007 - 02:12pm
I wasn't COMPLETELY blown away by the first movie, but I did enjoy it. There are enough really fun scenes in it that make it fun to watch. I think ILM did a fantastic job bringing him to life. I had no issues with the way he looked or the hulk dogs. I don't know why people whine about them. Like most people, though, I enjoyed the desert battle the best and was slightly confused by the final battle with his father. Overall, I liked it, though. I'm excited to see what they do with this one.
WARCRAFT - Aug 27, 2007 - 10:22am
First off, I love both Harry Potter and Warcraft, so my viewpoint isn't really tainted. I don't have numbers to back up my claim, but I'd venture to guess that to date, the Warcraft franchise has brought in more than $4 billion. The article says that it has "evolved into an entity that generates $1.02 billion dollars each year", which insinuates that they've been making slightly less money EACH year prior to this year. Considering Warcraft has been around for more than ten years, I wouldn't count out that $4 billion mark. They're referring not only to the video/computer games, but books, board games, cards games, action figures, etc. Having said that, it's a moot point since Warcraft will continue to generate money up the wazoo for years to come, while Harry Potter has almost reached its limit, since the final book is out, and only two more movies will be made. I think Warcraft will win the war, if it hasn't already, not that they're even competing markets since we all can enjoy both anyway. I say forget the "war." Just enjoy them both as long as you can.
WORLD OF WARCRAFT Details - Aug 06, 2007 - 10:51am
I don't get all the hate this is generating. If any of you have seen the cut scenes Blizzard has created for its games, you wouldn't be quite so condescending. I have HIGH hopes and expectations for this movie. Personally, I can't wait! If anybody can do a game-to-movie right, it's Blizzard.
Casting Call For The HULK - Jul 09, 2007 - 11:21am
Cappy, your question is answered in the very last line of the story (Tim Roth (Emil Blonsky/Abomination)). So yes, Hulk gets to smash something pretty big, but no poodles.
Cuthbert Talks CAPTIVITY Experience - Jul 05, 2007 - 11:43am
I haven't seen this film, nor have I heard any leaked spoilers, but twenty bucks says the killer is her co-captor, the guy she falls in love with in the other room. If it is, I'll be sorely disappointed with how obvious it is.
Raimi Speaks On SPIDEY 4 - Jun 27, 2007 - 02:19pm
How many times do I need to post this theory before people see the light? Doc Ock is NOT dead. It was made very clear throughout SM2 that Octavius had a constant battle with the AI of the arms when the inhibitor chip was malfunctioning. As soon as he lost consciousness in the lake, the arms would take over and pull him out of the water, and would be able to revive him. So, Doc Ock could still be part of the Sinister Six. On top of that, didn't any of you notice the newspaper framed behind JJJ's desk in SM3 with the headline 'Doc Ock's Body Still Not Found'? Yeah, folks. He's still alive.
Having said that, I think it would be a mistake to go with the SS for SM4 - it's just too much too soon. I LOVE the idea of having The Lizard and Kraven in SM4. Keep SM4 simple with those two, then introduce Vulture and maybe one other villain in SM5, then SM6 could feature the Sinister Six. That way, no time needs to be wasted with any villain origins in SM6 - just get to the meat of things. It could work.
DISNEY Stops The Sequel Syndrome - Jun 25, 2007 - 10:40am
I'm 100% behind this decision. Disney's name was getting tarnished because it was obvious they were whoring themselves out to make a quick, easy buck from the moms at Walmart being screamed at to buy the latest sequel. I watched Tarzan and Jane with my kids after it came out - thankfully a rental, not a purchase - and I was appalled at the quality. *I* could have made a better movie than this. It was a third-rate movie that appeared more like a bad Saturday morning cartoon (actually two patched together very poorly). After watching this, I refused to watch another straight-to-DVD release of a Disney sequel. So this decision is a very good one. Bringing in Pixar to run things was the smartest decision they could have made. Their movies will receive proper treatment now that they have smarter people in place.
SPIDER-MAN 3 - May 04, 2007 - 03:19pm
Did anybody happen to notice the newspaper framed on the wall behind Jameson in the first Bugle scene? The headline read "DOC OCK STILL AT LARGE". This supports my theory that Doc Ock did not die at the end of SM2. I've always said that once Doc Ock lost consiousness under water, the tentacles once again could take control and pull him to safety. Remember, at the beginning of SM2 in the operating room, the tentacles attacked people while Doc Ock was still unconcious. There's still the possibility of a Sinister Six movie - perhaps Spider-Man 6? That would be fitting. Think about it... :)
SPIDER-MAN 3 - May 04, 2007 - 12:04pm
I also saw it at a midnight showing last night, and I agree with the B to B- ratings. I don't think I've ever been this conflicted over a movie before. There were some scenes that were simply fantastic (helllloooo awesome fight scenes!), but there were also many cringe-worthy scenes that fell flat as, well... flatbread. I'm referring to the "evil Peter" scenes. I dont' know if Raimi went the right route by showing the effects of the suit through Peter's actions, at least not the way he did them. The dance scene in the nightclub wasn't COMPLETELY awful - it got its poitn across, but I dont' care for the dance itself. I think the worst scene by far was the Saturday Night Fever strolling by Peter, while he was winking at girls and acting comically cocky. I did enjoy, however, the girls' reactions to him, which was pretty funny. In my mind, they could have pulled it off better by making Peter more of a jerk and not just cocky. If he was just colder and uncaring rather than hokey and a show-off, it would have played better. I guess overall he just wasn't "mean" enough. The one thing I think they did nail right as far as the effects of the suit go is his second battle with Harry at Harry's place. THAT was cool.
There was also some pretty bad acting in the movie (Harry's butler was awful, as was Stan Lee's scene). Bruce Campbell, however, was friggin HILARIOUS. I loved that scene - great all around.
In my opinion, if they completely removed the Venom stuff and all sub-plots involved, this would have been a MUCH better movie. All the suit/venom/bad Peter stuff just did not work. If they concentrated on the conflict with Peter & MJ, Sandman and Harry, this would have been a brilliant movie. Introducing the meteor and black suit at the very end of the movie could have been VERY cool, and had a Venom/Carnage or Venom/Lizard combo for SM4, that would have been sweet.
With a few reshoots and reediting, this movie could have been fantastic, but as it is, it's seriously flawed with some incredible fight scenes mixed in.
Head To Head To Head – Gaming News Special - Apr 11, 2007 - 05:28pm
That shows character to take criticism like that. I'm impressed.
Have to admit, I'm also a little jealous that you have all the systems. I used to be able to do that when I was single, but I can't get away with it now. I'm happy with my computer, PS3, DS and N64 (for the kids), but it sure would be nice to have other systems. My wife doesn't "get" that train of thought, though, so I'll have to suffer without it until I can some day convince her it's worth the money. I don't care much about the 360, but a Wii would be nice.
Head To Head To Head – Gaming News Special - Apr 11, 2007 - 12:28pm
Actually, after listening to this podcast, I think it's more important to stick to a topic, or structure your discussion a bit more. This meandering chat among friends just doesn't do anything for somebody who doesn't know any of you. Not that interesting, sorry.
Leslie Bibb joins "Iron Man" - Apr 11, 2007 - 10:39am
She looks like a young Heather Locklear. That's a VERY good thing!
"Fantastic Four #544" Sells Out! - Apr 09, 2007 - 10:23am
What happened to Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman? I haven't been following the Civil War thing at ALL, so I have no idea at all what's going on. All I've heard is that Spider-Man went public with his identity and Captain America was killed, but other than that, nothing.
"300" Contest Winners - Apr 05, 2007 - 10:41am
There are two Tim's in the list. How can I tell if one of them is me?
February game sales jump 28% - Mar 16, 2007 - 09:01am
I'm not concerned for Sony yet. The next gen wars have barely started. The PS3 was built to last for about a decade. Sure, it's been a slow start, but things will turn around. Yes, the system is pricey, but for what you get, it's a good deal. Once they're able to bring the price down, which Sony might just have to do to bring it down to a level more people are willing to pay for, sales should start rising. Honestly, I have a feeling they'll bring it down to $500 for the 2007 holiday season. Also, once some nice robust games come out that show off what the system can truly do, it'll start raising eyebrows. I don't regret buying mine, since I bought it not only for the next-gen games, but also for the Blue Ray player. For my purposes, it's a good deal. In the long run, things will be fine. The life of the Wii will be MUCH shorter than the PS3. I guarantee it. Within a year or two, its flaws will really start to show and people will start complaining about it. That's the time the PS3 will shine like an awesomely bright star.
Jake Gyllenhaal joins "Shazam!"? - Mar 15, 2007 - 09:14am
Before even reading the story, I was thinking the same thing about Jake being the next Peter Parker/Spider-Man. He's a good actor, but I just don't see him playing Captain Marvel. Like everyone else is saying, he just doesn't have the build for it. I'm 100% Patrick Warburton being CM. He's PERFECT.
Rider Strong returning for "Cabin Fever 2" - Mar 14, 2007 - 09:28am
The first Cabin Fever disappointed me like no other film EVER has. I blame Ain't It Cool News the most for that, sicne they blubbered on and on about how awesome and dark and hilarious this movie was. I took my dad to see it, who's my horror movie buddy, and he won't let me live it down, even though he dragged me and my wife to see Scary Movie, which was equally awful. I won't waste my time with Cabin Fever 2. I wouldn't expect any more than we got with the first movie, which was complete garbage. Bleah. KJ got it right with this one (damn you!). Don't waste your time.
"Heroes" getting major changes? - Mar 02, 2007 - 01:45pm
The thing I love about Heroes, Lost and 24 is that there's no formula for every episode. Unlike all the CSI clones out there, we don't get a plotline that goes like this:
Conflict arises, main character investigates, main character confronts conflict and loses (or bad guy gets away), main character investigates some more, main character overcomes conflict, or loses, but makes a personal breakthrough.
Although that formula is proven and works if done well, it's refreshing to see shows coming out that deviate from that formula.
As much as I love 24 (and I DO love 24), I have to admit its one wekaness is that the major BIG BAD things always happen at the top of the hour. You'd think by now all the characters on the show would be ready for something REALLY BAD to happen when that minute hand hits 12. Actually, it's more like 11:59:55, so they get their tic-BOOM-tic-BOOM-tic-BOOM thing in at the end as the last few seconds click away.
Lost, as deviated as it gets at times, is still unpredictable, which makes it fun for me.
Heroes is right up there in my top three favorite shows. If it keeps up, it may become my favorite.
"Heroes" getting major changes? - Mar 02, 2007 - 09:57am
Heroes doesn't suffer from the origin storyline time-waster problem, because there really aren't much to the origins. People just kind of figured out that they could do special things. The way they handle it in Heroes is very efficient. Pretty much everybody got their powers around the same time and for the same reason - except for Claire, and possibly Hiro, who were children of people with special abilities.
I'm VERY happy to hear this news about season two. This way, no character should feel safe - anybody can go at any time, which adds a lot of tension. I definitely don't think this decision was made the way bdd describes it. so far, everything has happened the way they originally planned it. How difficult would it be to just continue next season where season one left off? Not hard at all - this was a decision made based on how they want to run the show, which is perfectly fine by me.
If Peter sticks around, there's no need to keep ANY other hero by the end of any season, since all of their powers can be utilized by Peter. This can end up being a cop-out, of course, if used too often, so that in itself may be a reason for Peter to die at some point. Eventually, he could just end up being TOO powerful, especially if he comes face-to-face with Siler again. His powers will double. This could spell doom for the poor lad, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.
I don't think Hiro will be expendible due to being the comic relief. We've already seen that he matures quite a bit and turns into a major sword-weilding bad-ass. Somebody else will have to come in to deliver the jokes. Hey, now here's an idea. Somebody can come along with a power that DEPENDS on bad jokes. We've all heard about comedians who lay bombs. Well, this guy (or gal) could literally create bombs from bad jokes. The worse the joke, the stronger the bomb. Could be amusing.
"How can you tell a blonde has been using a computer? There's white-out on the screen!"
Ka-BOOM!
"Spider-Man 3" clip coming with next "Heroes" - Mar 01, 2007 - 04:09pm
kjsucks6996, I hear ya, and agree with you 100% - hard to respond to a statement like that. SM3 will earn more than all of those movies, with the possible exception being POTC3. Die Hard 4.0 will bring in MAYBE half of what SM3 brings in. Ditto with Ocean's 13.
"Spider-Man 3" clip coming with next "Heroes" - Mar 01, 2007 - 02:00pm
theCOLLECTOR, you're contradicting yourself. You're saying the movie won't work because there are too many villains, yet you admit Venom takes up only about 5 minutes of the movie (I'd guess it'll be a little more than that, but if you don't consider the Eddie Brock storyline to be part of Venom, then maybe you're not far off). If onyl five minutes is spent with the Venom storyline, that leaves the other two and a half hours for everything else. Seems like plenty of time to explore everything to me. From everything I've read so far, the story focuses mainly on the black suit, Mary Jane/Gwen Stacy, Eddie Brock, Sandman, Harry, and then Venom, respectively in order of time investment. I expect we'll see a little more of Venom in SM4, along with The Lizard, and maybe a cameo by another lower-class villain for Spidey to take out as an opener or something (The Shocker, or Vulture, or somebody of that caliber).
In any event, I have high expectations for SM3. Only two months away! Woo hoo!
"300" - Feb 28, 2007 - 03:03pm
I'm in the theater opening day for this one. Every single frame of this movie I've seen in previews has made me drool. I must be an easy sell compared to Bryan, because I can easily suspend belief and reality when watching a movie, at least most of the time. Complete bombs like Catwoman and Batman & Robin fail too often to keep me in the movie, but I can find the good in most genre movies, and ignore the bad stuff. Usually. That's why I can walk away from movies like Daredevil, Elektra and Fantastic Four with a smile on my face. Are they perfect films? Even really good films? HELL no, but I enjoyed them for the most part. The rest I can repress for the length of the movie.
"Spider-Man 3" clip coming with next "Heroes" - Feb 28, 2007 - 09:49am
I'm with Pony on this. More importantly, and confusingly so, I'm also with KJ on this. SM3 is going to be a great movie. I have complete faith in Raimi. He's delivered for us with the first two movies. What reason is there to believe he won't deliver again? I'm VERY excited about SM3. I'll be there opening day, regardless of what theCOLLECTOR says. Buzzkill.
Go Spidey!
"Rise of the Silver Surfer" Poster - Feb 27, 2007 - 11:32am
I want this movie to be so good, but I'm not sold on it yet. I enjoyed the first movie, but not nearly as much as I hoped to. The FF was my favorite comic, and I've always hoped for a great movie about them. So far we haven't quite gotten there, but I'm hoping they hit this one out of the park. If they do a third, I hope they go with a storyline about the Skrulls. That would make an AWESOME movie. Facing the Super Skrull at the end of the movie would be so friggin cool. I guess we should take this one step at a time, though. Please get this one right, Story!!
Download movies to your PS3 - Feb 21, 2007 - 02:15pm
I'm sorry you feel the need to try and belittle me. May I be the one to point out that you're the one who started this. You weren't the one on trial here until you decided I don't have the right to state my opinion. I don't think I'm the one who needs to grow up here.
Download movies to your PS3 - Feb 21, 2007 - 12:59pm
First off, I'm not 'hiding' behind my computer. If I could se KJ face-to-face, I'd call him a moron then too. I've called people morons face-to-face, but only when it's true, just like in this case. The fact that YOU'RE turning around and criticizing ME from behind YOUR computer means you're hiding behind your computer too. What's the difference?
Telling someone he's acting like an ass and calling him an ass are the same thing. Get real.
Definition of a moron: "A person who is notably stupid or lacking in good judgment."
I think it works in this case. And now I'm talking about you, not KJ.
"Resident Evil: Extinction" Teaser Online - Feb 21, 2007 - 11:23am
Meh?? This actually looks cool! Zombies? Milla? A deserted Las Vegas? Bring it on!
My opinion of the first two movies isn't all that different than most people's, although I didn't *hate* the second one - it had some fun scenes in it. Overall, it didn't work all that well, but it's far from the bottom of the list. I suppose that all depends on what the bottom of the list is for you. I've seen some pretty God-awful movies, so the bottom of my list is pretty putrid. I'll at least see this one as a rental, unless the full-length trailer sells me.
Download movies to your PS3 - Feb 21, 2007 - 11:11am
theCollector, these forums are for us to post our OPINIONS. If my opinion is that KJ is a moron, it's my right to say that. Frankly, I think you are a moron too. Still, moron is not as offensive a name as 'ass', which you called me, so who's the teapot calling the kettle black here? That must make you a child too for calling me names. Grow up yourself, pal. Besides, my opinion of KJ isn't just in reference to this article - it goes back to numerous articles where his 'KJ's Take' comments have spouted pretty ridiculous opinions. Also, your comment about why I shouldn't post because I disagree with KJ's comments is ridiculous. The whole POINT of the forums is for us to post opinions. The fact that KJ was criticizing the PS3 for offering a service that frankly is a very cool one deserves blasting. Too late or not, Sony's download service is a nice idea. I think having that option is a good one, and I'm thankful that Sony is making that a possibility.
So, based on KJ's logic, the fact that Microsoft made the Zune YEARS after Apple released the iPod means Microsoft is 'too little too late' as well then, right? I don't agree with that at all. There's a demand for the service, and they came up with a solution to it. Sony is doing the same with the PS3, so kudos to them.
I have no doubts Sony will move up the charts with the PS3 over time. It's the most powerful system currently on the market, and its potential still hasn't been tapped. Once it does, we're going to be seeing some pretty amazing things on the PS3. I'm glad I have one.
Over time, I'm also pretty confident the Wii will lose its Wow factor, and the limited power of the system will become a major issue to people. At THAT time, the PS3 is going to start looking better and better to more people. Mark my words. Sure, it might take a couple years, but the system has a lot of life in it, so that's OK. Sony's going to be just fine.
One final note about the Blue Ray player in the PS3. I haven't had a single problem with it. It plays Blue Ray disks beautifully, and I've never had to save the movie on the hard drive to get it to work. This is the first I've heard anybody who had a complaint about it. More than likely, it's just a defective unit.
Download movies to your PS3 - Feb 20, 2007 - 01:50pm
I appreciate the support, Jedi. I'm getting pretty tired of people bashing the PS3. It's a great system and I have nothing but praise for it. Heck, even the standard definition DVDs look awesome on it. I'm excited about the idea of downloading TV shows and movies onto it - it'll give me the ability to watch shows I currently don't have access to - especially in HD.
theCollector, obviously I'm only going to defend my position on KJ's Take. There's a big difference between a news editor's professional OBJECTIVE opinion and his PERSONAL opinion. I don't care what he thinks personally, especially since his opinions seem to contrast that of most visitors to this site, based on comments I've read in talkbacks. If he has objective feedback that might speculate on news based on the facts involved, that's one thing, but his personal opinion should be kept to himself. He's apparently anti-Sony, and that ticks me off. If he wants to go get a blog of his own or an account on MySpace and talk about how much he hates Sony, fine, but on a movie news site, his opinion should be held in check, at least to a certain extent. It's very unprofessional. Besides, calling someone a moron is pretty tame nowadays. What you called me is FAR worse, not that I really care all that much since you're clearly a fellow Sony hater like KJ.
Oh, and for the record, I don't hate the Wii or Xbox 360 either. I enjoy playing those as well. I just prefer the PS3. Can't all the systems just get along?!?

As usual, KJ's Take is just a fourth-rate "journalist's" opinion. I use that term journalist VERY loosely.
Too late for what? The ability to download high definition TV shows and movies is something that sounds like a great idea to me. What would you rather do - download a low-res TV show or movie to watch on an MP3 player the size of my wallet, or download high-def versions to play on an HDTV? Ummm... that's a VERY easy answer.
Haven't the experts been saying for years that the future of media is downloadable content - for games, movies and any other digital medium? How in the WORLD does this make Sony's announcement "too little, too late?"
Another interesting note, according to EB Games, the PS3 60GB system was their highest-selling console the past month. Doesn't sound to me like Sony's doing all that bad.
KJ, sorry, but you're a moron. Your opinions are useless to me.
"Heroes: Distractions" - Feb 08, 2007 - 11:33am
I don't know why nobody figured out Nathan was Claire's father. That was my first and only guess. Since they were marketing it as a BIG SHOCK who her father was, you knew it was somebody we've already met. You know he's white, so the only possible options were Matt, Nathan or her adoptive dad. Forget about Matt - no WAY he was the father. Making her adoptive father her biological father as well would've been unexpected, but not very interesting. That leaves Nathan. That was the most obvious choice for me. Case solved.
I personally don't mind all the connections the characters have with each other. from the beginning they've been saying they're all connected anyway, so this just confirms it. Yeah, sometimes the connections seem a bit forced, but I don't mind it.
I was very pleased with how they've developing Peter. Clearly Claude has trained people with Peter's power before, and he knew Peter was retaining the powers he had absorbed before. That was a gamble, though - if Peter didn't fly on the way down, without Claire's healing power, he would've ended up as a big red splat on that car. Lucky for Peter.
I do like how Claude is training Peter. Obviously, he knows that Peter needs to remember the people he learned powers from in order to use them. By telling Peter he needs to forget them, he was forcing Peter to remember them. Have you ever TRIED to forget something? What happens? You end up thinking about it even more. Brilliant tactic on his part. I love this show!
"24: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM" - Feb 02, 2007 - 11:06am
This has been a great season so far - ESPECIALLY those first four hours! Wow!
The only characters I don't like so far are Palmer's sister and the contractor & his wife/girlfriend trying to find a new technician to rig the other nukes. The acting from those three has been pretty poor, and I hate hate HATE Palmer's sister's motivation. She's worried about her boyfriend, which is reasonable, but when you weigh that against potentially hundreds of thousands of lives, there's no comparison. Considering she's the President's (and assassinated President's) sister, you'd think she would understand the concept of sacrifice. I'm not saying she should like it, but the way she's approaching it makes her look like a selfish brat, which is inconsistent with the personality of her character.
Other than those three people, I LOVE this season so far. Jack Bauer RULES!

Each time KJ posts his opinion about an article, he makes himself out to look like a bigger idiot each time. He's QUICKLY losing any sense of credibility he once had, and even that wasn't much.
Platinum Dunes working on "Friday the 13th" remake - Jan 09, 2007 - 11:31am
I'd be surprised if they didn't stick to the main events from the first movie. Maybe they'll extend it a bit and show how Jason coped with his mother's death when he was still young. I've always been a big F13 fan. I was hoping, however, that they'd get to Friday the 13th, part XIII before doing any remakes. I suppose that's a lot to ask for from a fairly shallow movie concept. We'll see what happens.
Kiefer Sutherland talks "24" film - Jan 09, 2007 - 11:26am
I started watching 24 in its 4th season, and I never looked back. In fact, I watched the first season the same time I watched season 4 as it was airing. You'd think that would get confusing, but it really didn't. Since then, I watched everything but season 3 so far. I might start that while season 6 airs. We'll see. My reason for posting this? If you haven't started watching this show, but it intrigues you AT ALL, then start watching it immediately. It's my favorite show on TV. I would recommend you start from the beginning, because in later seasons, there are some major events that happen to characters introduced in the first couple seasons. There are things you'd find out that you wished you didn't know. Watch 24 now!
George Clooney joins "36" - Jan 04, 2007 - 11:11am
I don't mind writer's comments along with news stories, but not if it's an opinion piece. If they want to flavor up the story with their personal touch, that's fine, but to give an opinion like this just seems wrong to me. Writers should be a bit more neutral when it comes to their opinions. Regardless of my opinion on this, I have to say that the quality of the writers on this site is pretty poor. I'm constantly noticing typos, incorrect facts and poor grammar. And this is coming from somebody that used to WORK for the magazine back in its hayday. And no, I have no bad feelings for the magazine - I left on my own to pursue other interests. At the time I was still a big fan and even subscribed to it. It went downhill fast, and even faster when it changed to Mania. Oh, well. Good thing there are other sites to read about entertainment news.
MGM's talks plans for "The Hobbit" - Nov 15, 2006 - 10:40am
I was skeptical about The Hobbit being split into two movies as well, but this update makes it sound as if the second movie is more of a Hobbit sequel/Fellowship of the Rings prequel, which to me sounds like it might work. It might also bring in some more of the familiar characters from the original trilogy Jackson directed. Interesting stuff... we'll see what happens.
"The Buffy Files: Chapter 2" - Oct 27, 2006 - 11:30am
Yes, season two rocked. One of the best seasons from any show I've ever watched. That episode when Angelis returns and Buffy is devastated has so much raw emotion. It's tragic, and Gellar shows her awesome acting chops through that pain. I may be a bit fuzzy about how the magic works when a slayer dies, but it may have something to do with The Powers That Be trying to balance good & evil. The series Angel deals with The Powers quite a bit, so it kind of makes sense. What a great show!!
The Buffy Files: Chapter 1 - Oct 13, 2006 - 04:52pm
I think Seasons 2,3 and 6 were the three strongest seasons, with 5 coming in a close fourth. Obviously, there are episodes spattered throughout each season that are very strong, so each is worth watching for their own reasons. I'm also a HUGE fan of Angel and Firefly. It's a shame what happened to Firefly, though. That had so much potential.
Ali Larter talks HEROES - Oct 12, 2006 - 10:40am
chirop1, dude, go buy yourself a Tivo or a cheap VCR. There's no excuse to miss a show nowadays if you really want to see it. If money's tight, go the VCR route. You can get them dirt cheap now.
Chad Lowe joins 24 - Oct 11, 2006 - 11:26am
Likewise, I knew *exactly* what Chirop was referring to in his post, so your comments, jerwest, and especially your follow-up, came across as being really, really stupid. Stop now and save some face.
I would honestly be surprised if things didn't start off with Jack still in Chinese custody. Since they can't do flashbacks in 24, they can't easily explain how Jack escaped. The only way to do it is to show video surveillance of his escape, which would be hard to pull off. I'll be disappointed if the show starts with him already escaped. I want to see how he does it! He certainly wasn't released - they have (had) plans to cause some serious punishment to Jack. I doubt they intend to let him go free with his head still attached. I can't wait until January!
Galactus is in FANTASTIC FOUR sequel - Oct 05, 2006 - 10:15am
Why is anybody surprised that Galactus is in this movie? As soon as it was confirmed that Silver Surfer was in it, that was a given. I have to agree with most people here, though - the comic book design of Galactus will not work very well on-screen. I bet it remains mostly unchanged, except for the head gear and the cape/skirt thing. The head gear be reduced by at least 50% and won't have the wild bars pointing everywhere. It'll just be a fancy helmet. The cape/skirt thing will be removed completely. Just speculation on my part, anyway.
Why bother with live action when they can do such amazing things with CGI? I can't wait for both the expansion and the movie. I have 100% faith in Blizzard.
