Sylvester Stallone has been named the Action Star of the Millennium by the Video Software Dealers Association, the trade group from home video businesses. The group will award Stallone (ROCKY, RAMBO) with a trophy at their annual trade show in Las Vegas, Nev. this July.
The group seemed to make the decision in a world in which the films of Harrison Ford or Arnold Schwarzenegger did not exist, but no doubt the honor will be a boon to Stallone. He also beat out Sean Connery, John Wayne and every other action star of the last thousand years.
"As an actor, writer and director, Mr. Stallone has endowed his artistic achievements with excellence and has created some of the most memorable characters in cinema history," VSDA president Bo Andersen said to the Associated Press.
In unrelated news, of course, totally unrelated... the RAMBO trilogy will be coming to DVD in a boxed set May 28.
