Adult Swim Bolsters Anime Offerings

The Adult Swim block on Cartoon Network for Saturday nights has undergone a rather dramatic shift as the network is, for the short term at least, not offering regular repeated performances over the course of the block. Instead of doubling up on a show that was previously broadcast, the schedule now is opened up to include more anime than ever before through it's late night programming block.

The anime schedule for the network is now set as:

1:00 AM - Bleach

1:30 AM - Moribito: Guardian of the Spirit

2:00 AM - Code Geass

2:30 AM - Shin Chan

3:00 AM - Fooly Cooly

3:30 AM - Death Note

4:00 AM - Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex

4:30 AM - Cowboy Bebop

5:00 AM - Big O

5:30 AM - Inuyasha

The return of several "classic" shows to the block is a positive as they are series that have done well for Cartoon Network in the past and they're able to bring in more viewers as well that have heard about it from friends. Though there's certainly reasons to complain about the late night schedule overall with its time, in the current DVR-heavy world, such problems are pretty minimal for the intended age group.

It's a step in the right direction. Put the classics and older shows on later and the new shows up first. I'm glad CN didn't abandon anime.

I would like multiple showings, though.
