Adult Swim Removes Moribito

After having the first ten episodes of Moribito: Guardian of the Sacred Spirit show on Cartoon Network's Adult Swim, the series was pulled after an additional encore run of ten episodes. The series was originally planned to be release by Geneon Entertainment in the US but the home video release transitioned to Media Blasters after Geneon shuttered its doors in 2007. Media Blasters' John Sirabella explains what's going on:

"Just so you folks understand we do not handle the TV distribution of the program. As you all pointed out the deal was done previously and we picked up the DVD distribution. This is a matter between the CN and the producers. If they can work it out than we will be happy to do the work so it can get the remaining episodes on TV otherwise we will handle the DVD distribution."

I am stating to get tired of adult swim switching shows up I liked this series but knew once they started replaying the same episodes so quickly it was not going to be on long.

I hope they keep bleach on  we are not even half way through the episodes yet (but Adult Swim did pull this last year too)

Yeah, it would seriously great if someone would show their anime at a decent hour, these anime shows beat the hell out of most of what they show in primetime.  They meaning pretty much every channel.  IFC has some cool anime too, thy did Samurai 7, now their doing Hell Girl and Witchblade.  But damn after midnight on Tuesdays, are they sadistic opr d theyjust hate people who don't have TiVo.  At least AdultSwim's punishing schedule is on the weekend.

And yeah, i do hope they keep Bleach around, thy've some cool stuff happening and we haven't even gotten to the Arrancar story line yet.  but it seems to have weathered most of the schedulionbgng sytorms, so hopefully, the Network regonizes it as a product of value.

And after Memories of Nobody scored a theatrical release, albiet only two days, or nights, removing from the schedule now would make about as much sense as ditching Death Note.

I've not been following this development avidly, but I've heard that Media Blasters is actually halting DVD production indefinitely, in part due to the loss of TV exposure.

I guess big-box retailers are cutting back shelf-space in general to make room for solid sales performers, and Moribito just hasn't been doing that well (which is a shame as it's a fantastic production).

Anyway, here's hoping that Moribito can see its entire run released, even if it's on a prolonged schedule (which, actually, I can't see happening since a slow schedule also tends to have a negative impact on sales).

For what it's worth, I also thought the Walmart "exclusive" was really pretty skeezy.
