It is said that absence makes the heart grow fonder, but After I Win certainly makes the case for masturbation.

What They Say
What happens in a boys' dormitory, stays in a boys' dormitory. But what if a mere crush develops into something else? Can instances of sexual self-indulgence still be considered as experimentation or are they already expressions of love? When the nights grow lonely at the dorm, boys turn to naughty stuff. While pleasuring oneself is commonplace in a house full of teenage boys, Kasumi is nevertheless shocked when he catches his roommate Hiyori engrossed in self-indulgence. What's more shocking is that Hiyori challenges Kasumi to stay and watch, that is, stay if Kasumi feels something for the older boy. Will he stay or will he go? Which option is more rewarding for Kasumi? One thing for certain, it's winner take all in "After I Win."
DMP's standard trim with eye-catching back and front covers. Itsuki's beautiful boys not only take over the front cover (Hiyori and Kasumi), but there a larger than usual picture on the back with dietician Nakatani sensei and student athlete Kusakabe. (Should Nakatani sensei be encouraging that kind of diet for an athlete?) DMP does want to remind the readers that they have other things for sale and uses seven pages to let us know what these are. In the author afterword, Itsuki mentions her fondness for "yuri-ples", which I'll let her explain, and her intent with the predominant sexual activity in the book.
Kaname Itsuki's character designs are very pretty. There is the cool school beauty, Hiyori Nakatani; the youthful athlete just on the verge of adulthood, Kasumi Amano; Hiyori's beautiful and pervy brother, Sawa, who conveniently functions as home ec teacher, school dietician and dorm administrator; Kusakabe kun, a troubled young athlete getting more than dietary attention from Nakatani sensei. No crude and vulgar semes here. Itsuki seems to be playing a game of who's-on-top with readers and says as much in her afterword.
Itsuki's artwork is very clean. This is not a sketchy style. The resulting visual calm of the character designs is not without energy - creative panel placement, restrained use of tone and good black and white balance makes the pages pleasant to look at with pacing appropriate to the material.
Text and dialog read well. Sfx are replaced and substituted.

Ah, the rarified world of the BL academy.
This story of Houka Gakuen's lovely young men is a slight one. School idol Hiyori has confessed to his roommate and kohai, Kasumi. After some initial misunderstandings, the couple settles down to masturbating alone, masturbating with each other, breaking in on each other masturbating, having others break in on their masturbation, and breaking in on other people masturbating.
Since Hiyori became too emotionally enthralled and "barfed" (probably too much you-know-what) when he Kasumi tried to do something a bit more fulfilling with their sex organs, Kasumi puts a halt to going any further with Hiyori until after Hiyori get over his nerves, and he finishes his big race at the sports center. Masturbation is, however, not part of the deal and continues. But Kasumi does win his event, and he and Hiyori finally get to do something other than masturbate.
Comic relief is provided by Hiyori's perverted older brother, Sawa, whose wide-ranging duties allow him to keep his finger in a lot of pies, so to speak. Itsuki gives him his own short story that shows that he may be a pervert, but not an insensitive or unprincipled one.
After I Win is an amusing but very slender story with some top notch art. There are some genuine laughs to be had here, but the story is often awkward due to the assumed need to fit in another masturbation scene or reason for another masturbation scene.
Sex here isn't particularly graphic. The masturbation scenes are almost chaste - no organs flashed, no bodily fluids, and often just a heavy suggestion of the act. The sex scene is similar, more informational than erotic.
If you like funny, you like pretty and don't want to worry about a complicated plot, this could well be for you.
