After watching the trailer for Aftershock I have but one question. IS this a Grindhouse film? Now many would would argue that a true “Grindhouse” film is from another time. That the modern one’s miss the boat. It looks to have the moniker of a true Grindhouse film. Depending on your preference that may or may not be a bad thing.

Synopsis: Eli Roth presents a terrifying disaster thriller from groundbreaking director Nicolás López, where an American tourist discovers that surviving a 9.5 earthquake is nothing compared to the hell that follows.

Aftershock is written by Eli Roth and Nicolás López. The film is directed by Nicolás López.

Aftershock arrives in theaters May 10th, 2013.

Ha that actually made me laugh a bit. I may give this a shot.

In all honesty I thought Roth was going for something more grounded based on the big quake that hit Chile a couple of years ago. I wonder but assume that a lot of Chileans will find this a bit offensive. Probably the way some would feel if they made a horror schlock about 9-11

Well I'm assuming this takes place in Chile, think I read that somewhere. Yeah I know I shouldn't assume

I have to agree with you Wise... I was thinking the same thing and you make a terrific point about 9-11. I can't watch any of Eli Roth's films - I think the guy is just disgusting.

Nothing even remotely entertaining about this; no thanks!

Wiseguy 5/2/2013 8:12:10 AM

Which makes me a bit ashame of my first sentence especially once I started thinking of it in comparison to 9-11

This looks interesting, human nature will always be the downfall of humanity so, always interesting to see it come true in movies.

Shut up Meg!

Interestingly enough, I always see how disasters seem to bring the best of human naturee out in us. If you haven't seen the movie The Impossible, about the tsunami in Thailand, I highly recommend it.

People's first reaction isn't typically to grab guns and weapons, what I see is people rush in to see how they can help. Are there always a few idiots? Of course, but they are definitely the exception.
