AGE Ices the B.O. Competition

ICE AGE: THE MELTDOWN lead the weekend box office with a stellar take of $70.5 million in ticket sales. INSIDE MAN slipped to to second weekend with $15.7 million.

ATL came in third with $12.5 million. In fourth place was FAILURE TO LAUNCH with $6.6 million and V FOR VENDETTA rounded out the top fivew the $6.5 million in sales.

Of note to Cinescape readers, SLITHER opened at eight with $3.7 million, while BASIC INSTINCT 2 tied for the number ten spot with just $3.2 million.

Here are the estimated ticket sales for the past weekend:

1. Ice Age: The Meltdown - $70.5 million ($52.8 million)

2. Inside Man - $15.7 million

3. ATL - $12.5 million

4. Failure to Launch - $6.6 million ($73.2 million)

5. V for Vendetta - $6.5 million ($56.8 million)

6. Stay Alive - $4.58 million ($17.3 million)

7. She's the Man - $4.57 million ($26.8 million)

8. Slither - $3.7 million

9. The Shaggy Dog - $3.5 million ($53.9 million)

10. Basic Instinct 2 - $3.2 million

10. Larry the Cable Guy: Health Inspector - $3.2 million ($11.5 million)

Hey Hollywood...Sharon Stone's not sexy anymore...damn, execs get paid too much. I'm hoping studios start noticing Nathan Fillion more...he's just too funny and charismatic not to get more more parts.

One of my fav Stone films was "The Quick and The Dead" I don't know why... perhaps it's Gene Hackman being Gene Hackman... Leonard getting killed... and the conviction she had in doing that film... it was just good old cheesy fun. Also, #4 post, it was the Golden Globe that she won, not the Oscar, but I have more respect for the Golden Globe's anyway. Many people were shocked to see her win this and not the Oscar (which went to Susan Sarandon for Dead Man Walking) I can watch Casino over and over again. Dead Man Walking... no.
