Aged INDY Picture Revealed

Director Steven Spielberg snapped a picture of Harrison Ford donning his old Indiana Jones gear and has put it up at Indiana Jones.com. Obviously, the picture is taken after an action shot because Indy has bruises and looks like he was dragged behind a tank (which wouldn't be surprising for Indiana Jones). The last time he wore the outfit was nearly 20 years ago in Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade.

He doesn't look all that different. No doubt about it, actor Harrison Ford keeps in good shape and planned ahead for this film.

Indiana Jones 4 (current title) is hitting theaters everywhere on May 22, 2008.

So he doesn't look too bad slumped in a chair. But will he pull off the look for the whole movie? I'll admit this picture makes me feel a little better about the whole film, but not by much.

And as I mentioned in another Indy related news item, I still have serious doubts about this movie. The Fifties is not a great period for a Jones movie, the age of adventure having definitely ended by the time of the Red Scare and hoola-hoops. We still don't know who the villain is this time around either, do we?

He looks, he looks...well he loos old, but he is, so that`s cool. He is still badass Indy. What I find funny, about movies like this is, well, its been like 20 years and you`re still wearing the same old clothes. If a dude walked around wearing clothes from the 80`s right now, people would laugh at him.

What are you saying ponyboy76...I still wear some of the same clothes from the 80's. I get looks from people...sure...but in a good way. There's nothing like getting attention wearing a nice Member's Only jacket..some parachute pants...and Fila hightops.

Still looks good. If it's age rightly done it might not be too bad of a film. That computer movie of his last year sucked because he looked like a grampa married to a hottie and little kid. Did not seems right to me.

It's amazing what you can do with makeup and digital retouching.

He looks great, and this movie's going to be a lot of fun. I disagree with TheSleeper about the 50s not being a good age of adventure. There's all the UFO and Area 51 stuff, Commies running around, the Cold War, technological advances, etc...

I can't wait to see this movie.

I love Indiana Jones and am really looking forward to this.

But... what kind of man is wearing exactly the same shirt, pants, and hat from 20 years ago? The hat I can see. Besides being his trademark, a hat is something that can stand the test of time. But otherwise, it looks like he got dumped in the middle of nowhere with a suitcase he packed in the late 30's...

No, I'm not saying the movie will suck or anything, but the picture stirred some uncomfprtable thoughts.

That's his "work outfit." It doesn't have to be stylish. Now if we get a shot of him at the school (which I'm sure we will) and he's wearing the same suit... then I'm with ya on his outfit being dated.

eagle97 • Jun 22, 2007, 08:05am •
Keep in mind this man is an archaeologist. He lives in the past, so is it any wonder that his wardrobe is a little "out of date".

CappyMorgan • Jun 22, 2007, 08:15am •
Oh, I don't know, the clothes are not really dated for the 1950's field work. I don't think the fashion police monitor a guy who is chasing after artifacts, fighting off snakes and bad guys. Imagine the outrage if he didn't wear the old outfit. Plus, he looks great. He looks like an older and weathered Indy. I'm sure there will be a few jokes playing with the age issue (not to mention his "dated" look since he has a cool, hip son.) I think, so far, it all sounds like fun. Oh, the villian is rumored to be Kate Blanchet.
