after the last 2 wolvie updates, i think most everybody is done talking about this movie at least for a little while.

it s two way to see it, or they are preparing the franchise in case of succes, or the script is so weak they have to add casting to sales ticket...More they cast, worst it look to my eyes...

I've seen several posts from people complaining about the number of characters revealed so far, and I'm not sure why. Wolverine, Sabertooth, Kestrel, Silver Fox, and Agent Zero were all members of Team X. Deadpool was a product of the Weapon X program too. I don't know how Gambit connects, although I don't mind seeing him finally cast. I have no idea how Beak connects... talk about an obscure mutant to include. Overall, though, everything connects really well... What is a Wolverine origin story without Team X?

Well, remember this is probably an origin type flick heck its in the name, so there probably casting a lot of characters that will appear later in the film. My only concern is that the characters will not be fleshed out like they were in Electra, which was just awful. As for beak hes probably a side kick or minor character that will appear in the film. Wolverine always has some little tag along that follows him around and needs his protection so that makes sense.

I have no robem with the members of Weapon X showing up in the movie. Makes logical sense. I still object to Gambit being shoehorned into the movie. And while I like Dominic "Merry" Monaghan, I had to look up Beak on wikipedia. Dang, what a completely useless pointless character that has no business being in the movie. Only connection to Wolvie I saw in the wikipedia article is he ends up living in Wolverine's "shack" for a time.

The only thing I have to say about Dominic Monaghan being cast as beak is this: I always pictured DJ Qualls (The New Guy, Big Trouble, Road Trip) playing I think everybody should quit bitching about what mutants are and are not in the Wolverine movie. I'm betting that Gambit and Beak are more popular with average movie-goers than Mastodon and Maverick, and when it comes down to it, it's not about pleasing comic book fans, but pleasing your average movie goer.
monkeyfoot 2/22/2008 7:15:24 AM
All the various mutants here are probably very secondary characters appearing in maybe one or two scenes. If you were to look at just a list of mutants in the three X-men movies you would think they were crowded into every shot when most of them actually just walked in and out of a scene. Or my other thought is they may be thinking about a spin-off movie of the entire Weapon X team and not just Deadpool.
fft5305 2/22/2008 7:15:48 AM
I wonder if maybe as a part of the Weapon X program, they ask Wolverine to lead a team of mutants. It doesn't work out and most of them die, so they're only in the movie briefly. But it does show how Logan becomes such an outsider and a loner. It's a thought...

I think the cast sounds pretty good. I mean you can't have a movie with just Wolverine alone. that would be kind of boring. I think Ryan Reynolds is grat, and he is good in everything he does. Same with Liev Schriber. I think with the actors they have, as long as the script is solid, it will be a great movie.
