As if the previous 7 casting announcements of next season's HEROES wasn't enough these past two weeks. Variety is reporting that two new castiing additions have joined the 2nd chapter of NBC's hit tv show.  Dianna Agron (VERONICA MARS & SHARK) has been cast as a cheerleader in presumably the storyline relating to Claire's character. Dominic Keating (he stars in the upcoming BEOWULF and starred on Star Trek's ENTERPRISE) has been cast as an Irish mobster.

These two new characters, along with the other seven, and the returning actors from the first season, it looks like there might be too many people in the new season. But they're probably all going to be supporting characters, with the original ones still leading the new season. Either way, I'm waiting for the show to come back, and the spin off show whenever it airs.

I agree, AlpineWoods. If the producers aren't careful they could turn Season 2 into a redux of 24's Season 6. I don't want the cast to be fighting for screen time the way Jack and Chloe were suffocated by all the other supporting cast members. I'm willing to hold my breath and hope for the best, but I am still concerned.

I just hope this new cheerleader isn't going to be a bad guy, and somehow be the Sabretooth to Claire's Wolverine...or worse, the Evil Leaper to Claire's Sam Beckett.

There are going to be two new cheerleader characters, one played by Agron, the other by the girl who played the daughter in "How I Met Your Mother". The rumor is that one of them will be a lesbian. Agron played a gay character on "Shark" so maybe it'll be her.

Or maybe it won't be her. Playing a gay character in the past has nothing to do with if she'll do it this time.

Two worthy additions to the show. Keating was good on Enterprise.

Somehow I have a feeling that Dianna Agron will play a rival, a nemesis; if you will, to claire's character. It will be interesting to see how they [producers] will add Dominic Keating to the show.

Hmm. With all the new casting for the next season, I wonder if Tim Kring is still going ahead with the six-episode mini-series that would let us viewers choose the new character.
