New Captain America and Thor: Diversity or Cheap Gimmick? (Article) - 7/22/2014 5:01:24 AM

In the end this all comes down to pandering plain and simple, people have whined about the lack of minority characters, women characters, gay characters etc. and now in a lame attempt to bolster sales Marvel (and probably DC eventually pulls stuff like this).

Funny thing, outside of the collectors temporary boost (people who go out and buy issue one of these reboots and then stop ususally)  these kinds of changes ususally fail miserably.

For example look at the comics industrys attempts to appease the feminists who have whined about female characters costumes, so they redesign most the the core characters costumes to be less sexy and revealing, what happens most people hate the redesigns and not one comic with a female main character is really selling that well, most ususally sell around 50,000 units monthly according to sales trackers, and that is nationwide.  Also the ones that sell that much are the top tier characters the B-List superherorine titles sell even worse.  To add insult to injury few if anyone actually cosplays the new designs at Cons because most people do not like the new character designs, most prefer the old ones.

Also to note are the books that Marvel for the most part revamps in an attempt to appeal to minority readers ususally do not breakout and sell well either:

Marvels Ms. Marvel where Ms. Marvel is a Muslim teen only sold around 34,000 units in June, and the Spiderman Miles Morales comic only sold around 38,000 units, so none of these titles are really brining in the new readers like these companies had hoped.  Other examples would be the Fearless Defenders (a book made to appeal to female readers by a creating a team of lesser known Superheroines), which was a good book but no one bought it and it was scrapped after 12 issues.  Also to note would be the Mr. Terrific and Static shock comics which were made to bring in African American readers but were canned by DC  in under a year because of horrible sales.

Bascially stuff like this is a gimmick done to appease outspoken people who complain about the industry, but ultimately after a couple of months the appeal dwindles, people realize what the comics companies are doing and sales flop after a while.

Mania Review: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Article) - 6/29/2014 4:41:01 AM

Ha guess not but I have had to messages deleted for calling critics out for being whiney pricks who sadly have to realize how little their opinions honestly matter to most people.

Mania Review: Transformers: Age of Extinction (Article) - 6/29/2014 4:35:52 AM

LOL, is there some block on calling critics out for being a$$holes, with a major superiority complex on this page or something.  The reason I ask is I posted a paragraph talking about how critics are ultimately just butthurt they have to realize how little their opinions matter to people when movies like this do well.

Mania Box Office Report: AMAZING Spider-Man 2 (Article) - 5/5/2014 5:45:04 AM

Saw The Amazing Spiderman 2 this weekend, and really enjoyed it, I  don't get why its getting all the hate from some online, although despite what some are saying plenty of people enjoyed the movie, its currently sitting at around 60,000 viewer votes in imdb and has a rating of 7.6, so yeah despite what message board trolls are saying a lot of people enjoyed the film.  After the way the second ended I  am eagerly anticipating the third and they are assembling the Sinister Six a few pieces at a time.

That is one thing I  will say I  love about these movie that the Raimi films did not do was try and build up the universe of Spiderman more and keep the villains around (I mean seriously all the villains in the Raimi films got killed off with the exception of the Sandman in Spiderman 3) in these news films they have already introduced four villains and for all intensive purposes all of them are still alive (the one villain who you think died in the new Spiderman could easily return).   Then they also teased at other villains appearing next like Doc Oc, and The Vulture.

I  am now eagerly awaiting the third film which should come out in 2016.

Mania Review: The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (Article) - 11/23/2013 4:01:37 AM

Meh, I personally thought the first film was really dull, its basically just twilight with a Gladatorial Game thrown in, as well as the typical leftwing political crap coming out of Hollywood for years (poor people are ultimately good, those darned people who are not poor the Upper Middle Class and the Wealthy are the ultimate evil, blah blah bullsh*t).  So yeah I will definitely give this movie a pass, I only saw the first once in theaters and that was enough for me, this overhyped series (like Twilight) can just hurry and end in my opinion.

47 RONIN: Official Movie Clip #1 (Article) - 11/17/2013 12:30:02 AM

"Garbage"

And the first comment comes from an a$$hole.  The truth is this movie looks pretty awesome, a cool mix of Asian fantasy and 300 like visuals.

DVD Shopping Bag: Man of Steel Dilemma (Article) - 11/12/2013 3:47:03 AM

I am glad to see I am not the only one who did not mind the ending to the movie, I thought this movie was very good and enjoyable overall, and am really sick of the Internet whiners complaining about the ending, given how the movie did in theaters, WOM was pretty strong,  and the haters will just have to except that outside the internet  most people really enjoyed this movie.

The Walking Dead: Internment Review (Article) - 11/11/2013 10:12:59 AM

Who the heck lets people write these reviews, first it was Hanso's joke/recap review, then this piece of crap whiney I don't like the Flu story arc review, so I am going to give the episode a D rating.

Yeah well this season has been very enjoyable so far, just like Season 3,  I do not get where some of the hate for this show comes from.

Villain for Amazing Spider-Man 3? (Article) - 10/17/2013 9:17:06 PM

For the love of God Sony, do not put a villain as lame as Hydroman in the Spiderman movies, I  mean of all the classic villains not used yet someone seriously thought hey lets put in that guy who is made of water, bump Shocker, Scorpion, Mysterio, Tombstone, The Chameleon, The Hobgoblin, Venom/Carnage (do Venom properly), The Kingpin, etc.  Yeah lets scrap those losers for a winner like Hydroman.......LOL.

TOP 10 UNCOSTUMED HEROES OF THE MARVEL UNIVERSE (Article) - 9/25/2013 4:47:16 AM

Ummmm, yeah if you are going to mention Spidermans love interests and leave out Felicia Hardy/Black Cat, obviously you have forgotten a lot about the character since you last read the comics.

I mean Black Cat is the one chick that has basically almost broken up Mary Jane and Peter more than any other girl as  Spiderman and Black Cat do have an on again off again romance.
