Add another future listing to the credits of "Smallville" creators Al Gough and Miles Millar. The creative team which left the CW show last year before moving onward to more theatrical projects has a new supernatural to direct titled Salisbury, based on a spec that they wrote. The duo are also writing a Disney project currently titled Jungle Cruise based on a theme park ride and Robotech as well. Their most recent effort was penning The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor for Universal Pictures.
No real plot concept to pass along to you Maniacs as it's currently being kept under wraps. All we know is the title refers to a fictional town in which a supernatural element exists around what will be a young cast. The budget is going to be near the $40 million range.
I think that if they go more of a POTC feel with Jungle Cruise, and not a "Haunted Manison" feel, it could work quite well. I remeber walking in to the first POTC movie prepared to hate it. I was like, "how the fuck can they make a good movie based on a ride?" I was wrong. I loved it. I like Smallville, but always wait until I can buy a season at Best Buy for $14.99 before I watch them.
