Relativity Media chief Tucker Tooley and franchise producer Edward R. Pressman announced today they have attached Alex Tse (Watchmen) to flesh out the screenplay for their reinvention of The Crow, based on the comic book series and comic strip by James O'Barr.

Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later), The Crow adaptation will be a gritty reboot of the gothic iconic character Eric Draven, who returns from the grave as The Crow on a mission to avenge his wife's murder, so that his soul can finally rest. Bradley Cooper (Limitless) is attached to star as Draven. "The original film is known for its breakthrough visual style as well as its unique production design and cinematography. Fresnadillo and Tse are perfectly suited to bring these beloved characters back to life, and to create a world worthy of this modern classic," said Relativity.

Relativity and Edward R. Pressman Film Corporation will be teaming with Spain-based Apaches Entertainment on the production. The Crow is being produced by Edward R. Pressman, Jeff Most, Relativity’s CEO Ryan Kavanaugh, and Apaches' Enrique López Lavigne and Belén Atienza. Relativity's Tooley (The Fighter) and Apaches' Jesus de la Vega will serve as executive producers. José Ibáñez and Pressman Film Corporation's Jon Katz will serve as co-producers.

Tse is represented by CAA, Margaret Riley at Brillstein Entertainment Partners, and attorney Ira Scheck of Schreck Rose & Dapello.

I LOVE the original film, but unlike most people I don't hate remakes.....way i look at it is that it could be awesome and I can have two versions of the film I love.....and if it sucks, hey, at least I have the original and it does not negate it it anyway.....and Bradley Cooper is a good choice...I just hope he can kick ass like Brandon Lee.

I still think Crow is untouchable.  I liked the tv show however.  I think slow stories are better than a quick 1.5 hour romp.

the tv show was ok I just wont get to excited without a trailer to watch the movie

Can't beat the original...will skip this for sure.

Sorry Bradley is a horrible choice, but then again who could really Follow Brandon Lee anyway.

I mean he nailed the role and was such a great movie.

I've never seen the original entirely nor any of the sequels, it just didn't really appeal to me. And now with Bradley Cooper playing the lead I'm definitely staying away, this guy sucks

gutsmgee 6/23/2011 6:24:19 AM

If he wasn't so bulky, I think the guy who plays Conan/Drogo would make a great Draven, I bet he even looks a little like Brandon Lee in the Makeup.

I've said it before, I'll say it again: Bradley Cooper is gross.  I used to enjoy the hell out of The Crow.  And perhaps I will eventually find myself interested.  I just have serious doubts.  I mean - Bradley Cooper?  REALLY?  Ugh.  I just don't understand the appeal at all.  Very odd choice.  Not odd/interesting.  Just odd.  And gross.

Brandon Lee's performance is untouchable. (after just watching it again recently, I have to say I think his performance must have inspired Ledger's Joker to some degree...IMO)

Anyway, that doesnt mean a new Crow cant be good. It has the potential to be great. Ill wait for a trailer before i decide.

Im not sure of the Bradley Cooper choice, but we will see.

I think if Joseph Gordon-Leviitt trained a little for the film, he would have made a great Crow....

@gutsmgee - I agree Jason Momoa could be a great Crow as well
