Back to the Future isn't the only franchise box set to be hitting Blu-ray in October. 20th Century Fox is set to premiere a new Alien Anthology in the U.S. and U.K. markets on October 26, 2010. IGN Movies is reporting the six-disc set will have 60 hours of special features and over 12,000 images, including material from the old LaserDisc "Legacy" release and the Quadrilogy DVDs. The studio also says that the four Alien films have been "reinvigorated for an intense Blu-ray high-definition viewing experience."

Previously unreleased content includes original screen tests of Sigourney Weaver prior to filming the original Alien, unseen deleted scenes, and the previously unseen original cut of "Wreckage and Rage: The Making of Alien3" (previously only available in truncated form).

This edition will incorporate the "MU-TH-UR Mode," an interactive feature that lets you access the special features on all six discs and provides an index of all available content.

The Anthology offers nearly five hours of additional video Enhancement Pods created exclusively for this collection, presenting behind-the-scenes footage, raw dailies and interview outtakes from all four films. At relevant points in the documentaries, you may access these pods to enhance your experience – or watch them on their own from the separate Enhancement Pod index.

The Anthology will initially be available in a limited edition with alien-egg packaging.

HOLY CRAP! Just look at all the stuff on discs 5 and 6!!!! I'm definitely going to pick this up when it comes out. Now if Star Wars can just get a blu-ray release similar to this, I will die a happy man.

axia777 7/15/2010 11:52:20 AM

 MUST BUY.  Nuff said.  :D

Darkknight2280 7/15/2010 12:00:17 PM

Would love to buy this too but its prolly gonna cost a d!ck and a B@ll to buy it.!

Yes Swisshammer a  BLU-RAY SAGA EDITION BOX set needs to be released!!!! Including original versions and "updated" versions on each disc!

tarb 7/15/2010 12:14:54 PM

been waiting for this since blu ray came out :)

Muenster 7/15/2010 12:27:09 PM

It's a shame that you have to buy Alien 3, and 4 to get all those goodies.

Skroin 7/15/2010 12:59:50 PM

I'm definately going to have to get this.

Sure Alien 3 is crap, but I'll still watch it again for how cheesey it is. I love how everyone in the movie has to practically curse with every other word that comes out of their mouth.

Ressurection didn't bother me. I kind of enjoyed it, actually.

And the features on Disc 5 & 6 is what seals the deal for me to get this.

ElBaz13 7/15/2010 1:00:12 PM

Sweet!

Heading off to the used DVD store to sell my 4 DVDs before everyone else does. :)

Swisshammer - George Lucas will never release a Star Wars Saga Blu Collection with all that content.   What he will do is break up the content and then sell it under the 15 different Star Wars Saga Blu Collections he plans to release.

littlemikey979 7/15/2010 1:33:59 PM

They threw in 'Parodies' on disc 6. I wonder what they are going to show. The only thing that comes to mind is the 'SpaceBalls' scene, "Water my ass!! You are dead on right hanso, ol'stick it to um' Lucas will release everything one at a time. Eps. I - VI one at a time, then IV - VI together, then I - III together, then I - III with the Clone Wars added in. The list could goes on and on. And we'll keep buying them hopeing to see Solo shoot first again.

"Wanna buy a death stick?"

ddiaz28 7/15/2010 1:52:02 PM

It's gonna sell for $139.99 US, for those wondering.  I'll sure as hell pay it.  I know it's ridiculous but I've never actually seen Alien and Aliens from start to finish.  Only ever in bits and pieces.  Can't wait to watch them all.  And yes, I like Alien 3, Resurrection, not so much.
