All Hail PHARAOH Smith?

This is purely speculative but superstar Will Smith may be traveling back to Egypt in the near future for a spec called The Last Pharaoh. The reason we caution speculation here is because it comes from news by Sun Media that screenwriter Chris Hauty (Never Back Down) is touching up on the spec which is being overseen by Smith's production shingle Overbrook Entertainment. As you know, just because a superstar is overseeing a project, it doesn't mean he will star in it as is the case in a lot of Brad Pitt's Plan B productions.

But it's worth passing along to you...

Plot Concept for Pharaoh:
The film centers on Taharqa, who was king of Egypt (from 690 BC to 664 BC) and a member of the Nubian or 25th dynasty of Egypt. He was the son of Piye, the Nubian king of Napata who had first conquered Egypt, and the younger brother and successor of Shebitku. The story is about Ethiopians battling Assyrians for the throne of Amun-Ra.

All I see so far is Smith dancing "Dane like an Egyptian" style and throwing in a "All hell naw!"

Finally, a movie set in Royal Egypt/Africa with a black person as the lead. Hollywood pissed me off when they would do that (cast white in the role of Egyptian/Middle Eastern person). I mean sure it was to appeal to more audiences back in the day. But I think once the 90's hit this should have been done.

Wow, the Fresh Prince as a Pharoah...that's quite a promotion!

I can actually see the entire Smith family in this movie. Of course that might be an overkill, but, I wouldn't mind seeing Jada in some Nubian attire...

Yeah, it is good to see people of the right complexion in a historical drama. How many blondish and blue-eyed Jesus have there been?
Jada in some sleeky half nude garb...? Yes!
And Big Willie as the king: "What? The Greeks are attacking!?! Aww, Hell naw!!!
EDIT: I seem to remember about a year ago Smith bought the rights to the life story of a black archeologist who has had various Indy type adventures around the world. It sounded like a great idea. I'd love it if he got to that first before this or the Long Run idea listed in another article.

Just saw I Am Legend this weekend. Damn, that movie was good! Smith was incredible in it, too. He's nNot the first person I would think of to play Pharaoh, but he's a good actor, so I'm sure he'll be fine.

He is a good actor and deserves a milestone part just like arnold's terminator or sly's rocky...

Smith wouldn't be egyptian. The Egyptians weren't black. Smith would be from Ethiopia.
I think this movie sounds friggin awesome. Love the time, love smith, love this.
