Amanda Tapping Talks SG:ATLANTIS

Actress Amanda Tapping has talked to SyFy Portal about moving from the recently departed STARGATE SG-1 to the fourth season of STARGATE:ATLANTIS. Her character, Samantha Carter, a character who spent 10 years on the original show will now continue onward with the crew of Atlantis. While talking to Syfy, she reveals that her character will be much different than the "Carter" we're accustomed to due to her new promotion. She's certainly going to miss out on a lot of the action...

"It’s a much different role," she said. "I’ve gone offworld just three times this year, and it’s extremely hard. It’s especially frustrating for Carter to say that you have to go, and watch people go without her. I’m kind of lost without my P-90, too. She doesn’t go offworld nearly as much as she likes."

"I’m very happy with the way the character was being introduced," Tapping said. "Bringing Carter from 'SG-1' to 'Atlantis' was handled seamlessly.

"I credit the writers with making it a fairly easy transition for her. [Carter’s] discomfort comes from the fact that she is completely out of her element. She is a woman who spent her entire career taking orders, and is suddenly in a position where she influences people’s lives by the decisions she makes. In that respect, she is really struggling in some ways, too, to find that strength."

Trust me, by the time it's over with...all the actors from Stargate: SG 1 will be starring on Stargate: Atlantis...so it'll be the same show...slightly different name.

Hopefully, Carter will be able to tell all those scientists who talk too much to shut up. That is why I haven't embraced Atlantis entirely. There are too many characters who talk too much and get on your nerves, mostly the scientists.

They need to quite posting news on this series, it is garbage! 100% GARBAGE! How this is still on the air I have no idea, when are they going to realize most people hate this show? Don't even get me started on Flash Gordon, what is wrong with Sci-Fi? Oh and also they cancelled Dresden files, not great but way better than this dog vomit.

And if anyone tries to defend this, and especially Flash Gordon, I swear I will rip you a new one. That is all.

Leave Atlantis alone. It started off a little rockier than sg-1, but its certainly not terrible. During season 9 of sg-1, I thought Atlantis was the superior show.
And sorry to be objectionable, but my favorite part is the interaction of the scientists.
Quite frankly, I have very high hopes since they are swapping out what I felt was one of the weakest characters, Weir, with Carter.
And the reason it is still on the air is because there have been enough people watching it.
Finally, I don't know what website you are talking about, but Mania(formaly Cinescape) hardly posts anything about this show or sg-1.

My dog can crap out a better show than this garbage, and as far as I'm concerned one article about this show is too much. I don't see a lot of people defending this show, and mattcci you are obviously on the show's payroll, no one would admit he likes the scientists of all things. Plus SG1 always seemed like a rip off of Star Trek, at least to me. Don't get me wrong the show has it's benefits, like when I want to break up with a girl, I start watching the Stargate DVD's, it get's them out of the house real quick. Of course then she thinks I'm just a big huge nerd for watching such garbage, but hey, at least you don't have to have "the talk" then. That's right, women hate Stargate, if you admit you like it, they will never sleep with you again!

Holla back Honkies!
